One problem I hate about gt4

Is the camera. The camera movements imo are unrealistic. I look at the camera movement of Ridge Racer Evo and it makes the game look abit realistic, if I look at it from a distance I might think it was real due to the camera movement. What do you all think?
Gt4 already has the photorealistic look but realistic camera movement would make the game look even more realistic.

What? Camera looks fine in replays imo, I dont get what you mean. How can a camera look unrealistic? Oh and RR E is meant to be crap anyway.

What I'm saying is the camera in the replays moves too perfect. See when I saw the camera movement in RR E it was shaking and looked like a real life person was holding it.

camera angle in gt4 will be fine only camera angles i dont like on the game are the test course cam angles but thats it

The one thing I hated about GT3 was only two camera views. And both were like almost every Ridge Racer (R: Racing Evolution is NOT a Ridge Racer game. The credits even said "From the makers of Ridge Racer").

I mean, you basically need three views at least. "Jarrett and LaBonte Stock Car Racing" (I hate calling that game that) had like... maybe 5 camera views. "Le Mans 24 Hours" had 4.

But with GT4, it will need a better camera view. Just look at GTs 1 and 2.

I actually liked the camera work in GT3. If you've ever watched Formula 1 or world superbike on TV, you can see where alot of those camera angles came from (especially the moving ones).

The cameras on the test track oval thingy were brilliant!

The thing with the cameras is nearley all of them are on stands or tripods, so there isn't actually anyone holding them, they don't shake when you wath the BTCC, FIA GT or F1.

i would like to see a lot more sweeping overhead shots, like from a helicoptor. the stationary tripod shots just seem to get bland after a while, i want a dramatic movie angle.

The one thing I hate about GT4 is its punctuality. It is late late late.

I think GT3's cameras were great, Its not entirly as if you were watching it on tv no, but its still good in my opinion, but if they made the ones "on track" shake a little then it would be cool, other than that I wouldnt care if they used the same ones from GT3..

i liked the views other then the ones that looked like they were flyin directly over the car

Oh, but the game has photorealistic graphics, once you've got that what more could you want? [saracasm]

We should stick to the cameras here, so this thread doesn't go the same way as others have.

IMO, the camera needs to shake just a bit, like someone is holding it.

So, do you also want the cameramen covering today's racing series to stop using tripods also? Maybe once in awhile simulate a handheld camera but not all the time. And GT3 did improve on the realistic camera movement. Check out GT1 and 2, the camera is always perfectly following the car, whereas in GT3 you'll see the camera not track it perfectly just like a person would. So they have been working on it, and I'm sure it will improve some in GT4.

From what i've seen in Arwin and Race Idiot's GT4P videos, the camera views have improved on GT3 and now seem even more realistic.

Shaky camera's are (as said by various people above) like watching a home video recording you made at the track with your Sony Handicam or whatever.

Believe it or not, the less shaky it is the more realistic it becomes.

I think its fine the way it is. In GT:P the camera work seems more realistic & the heat haze isn't as overdone as it was in GT3 :)

shake your tv then, maybe thats the effect you want. i did and i thought i was really there.

It doesn't have to look like a video - it can look like you're actually watching the race, in which case it would not shake.

Did you try the different camera settings during the replay? Try it sometime, and you'll see the camera shake around a bit.

During the replay press the start button. Then, select the "double car" icon for the MODE setting. Next, choose the AUTO icon for the TARGET setting. The car will go "out of target" from the camera once in a while, and the camera shakes around a bit like it was being shot by a real human.

EDIT: Actually, setting the single car icon for the MODE works too. The TARGET is fixed to the manual position. So, I guess you just need to put the MODE to something other than that "course" icon.

Thxs for that info. The zooming in and out is realistic and I love it.

You're welcome. Notice, you can turn other features off that appear on the screen, as well. I turn everything off, leaving only a GT3 icon to appear occasionlly in the lower right corner. It looks great in 16:9 aspect ratio.

What kind of tv do you have that supports 16:9? I got a 42" gateway plasma.

Is yours the EDTV, or the HDTV?

Mine is the Sony model# KD-34XBRHD2. It has the intergrated HD digital tuner, which makes my TV a "TRUE" HDTV set.

HD.

Ouch, $4,000 for a HDTV-ready TV, huh? Wow. My set was the same price, but it's a CRT with no DVI or HDCP. I had to pay an extra $500 on top of that for the matching stand, the tax and delivery cost. It cost that much because I bought it over two years ago, back when they were pricey.

Is your HDTV-ready set HDCP compliant? In other words, do you plan to watch satellite HDTV programming, or future HD-DVD or Blu-Ray (PS3) movies? If it is not HDCP compliant, you wont be able to watch these sources in HD. It will be downconverted to 480p.

HDCP is 480p only.
I don't know much about tv's but is LCD better than plasma. I think I saw a 42" LCD screen at best buy that cost more than a plasma. It was like 5,000.

Yeah LCD is better, I've heard that with plasma the crystals need replacing every so often, I was tempted to get one a while ago but after hearing that I decided not to, the picture isn't the best either, there still good though.
