What do you do if you have been diagnosed with Leukemia and have been given a year to live?

This 20yr old decided to travel Europe and get the ultimate thrill by riding on the back of trains. He is the only person to ever ride the German ICE bullet train which travels at 330km/h!!

Although it is an incredibly stupid stunt, you have to admire his guts, and the fact that he wanted to spend his last year alive experiencing life to the full.

R.I.P Trainrider.

Great Stuff! If i was ever diagnosed with something like that i would go out of my way to enjoy that year, Maybe not hanging on to the back of super fast trains but there are still quite a few things i need to tick off the "to do before i die" list.

It is extremely sad that the guy above died but im sure he lived the last year of his life, albeit a short one, extremely happy and to the fullest that he could.

When it eventually comes to that time for me to pass away, i wouldnt want the last thoughts going through my mind to be "why didnt i do that" or "i wish i did this". I just want to be able to sit there and smile reflecting upon all the great moments ive had in my life. Im guessing thats a similar attitude to what the guy in the train video had.

R.I.P. Mr Trainsurfer, Your an inspiration* for us all.

Spec....

*i dont condone trying to hang on the back of a 330km/h train

Poor guy.

I love questions like that (if you had one year to live what would you do?)
and i love the cool, stupid, (and sometimes very odd) responses people give.
if some guy said he wanted to ride the ICE train like that...
i just wouldn't believe him

if i had a year to live:
1. kite surf
2. visit europe
3. drive the V12 Vanquish and Ferrari Enzo

poor guy, may he rest in peace 👍

sad story, but i also don't want to die with the thoughts Spec mentioned, to be sorry that i haven't done what i wanted to do!!

i think id want to know i was gonna die.

rip dude

I'd watch A spongebob 24-hour marathon (Wait, I'm doing that now).

I'd really do many things that I would have never done before, and spend a lot of time with my family.

From,
Chris.

...makes a helluva commercial for the suction cup manufacturer.

"Our product has been rigorously tested, and is capable of holding a 160lb male to the back of a 330km/h train"

...stupid stunt, but still sends a message.

Wow.

That's something truly spectacular. While I wouldn't want to be the man that had to clean the mess up if things went wrong, I can't say that he shouldn't have done it. I can't imagine he could have affected that many people* if it all went wrong.

*Of course his family and friends would be affected, but I'm sure they would have seen why he did it.

Put a lease on a Saleen S7 with insurance ($9,000/month)

Go to that Highway in Europe that has no speed limit, and of course, bring the S7.

Use the car that I actually own at a nearby road course and drive like I would an Escudo Pikes Peak in GT.

Empty the neighbors gas tank and fill it back up with water, let them wonder what happened to their '84 Civic, and give them a "professional analysis" and say that they should junk it.
I would probably say that "the harmonic balancer, inter-hydrologic systematic controler, and their 19 inch subwoofer had gone bad because of poor care of their fascia and rotational chromatic rollers."

Secretly get into Google headquarters, act as an employee, take a dive in their indoor pool, and find out what their working on.

If I knew I was going to do soon no matter what, I think the last of my do-it before-I-die actions would be taking up something that could likely kill me, for the same thrill reasons Trainrider did.

It's only stupid if you have something to lose.

Wow great find Dunc, good for him I say, why bother slouching around the house when you know you have only a year to live?

Many people say they do, but he truly was living life to the full.

If I was diagnosed with a year to live,I'd probably make a big bomb,go to a NAZI convention dressed in a SS uniform, scream "DIE NAZI ****S!" and flick the switch, suicide bomber style.

Or I'd go to Tokyo and get(well, atleast I'd try to,lol) some downstairs action with them Japanese women as much as I can,and then do the aforementioned.

Wow.

Ok then. Remind me to stay the hell away from wherever you go.

And this, is why I don't go on GTP while drunk.

Stuff like that always makes me sad. Imagine what he's going through being diagnosed like that. Brrrr. I must admit I was a little afraid watching the video and reading the comments but I did.

^are you drunk? :odd:

I'dsee if I could have my insurance paid to me, buy a GT-R and die in a fireball while doing 250km/h with head on collision course with a Shell fueltruck. :trouble:

And kill the driver of the shell truck? You've pretty much missed what i think is the point of this thread.

The point being, yes this guy was reckless with his stunt, but he didn't put anyone else's lives at risk.

Hmm..

I'd go snowboarding with some friends in Utah, and then go to Bonneville and see how fast my Chevy would go before it starts leaking all over the flats.

R.I.P man in crazy-330kmph-train-video.

It really just goes to show that tomorrow is never certain, as I've learned from the passing of a much beloved member on NSXPrime.com recently.

What would I do?

  • Buy that Ferrari I've always wanted, and take it beyond it's limits on the Autobahn.
  • Fly a stealth-jet beyond mach 2.
  • Attempt to overcome the illness.

Kudos to him. 👍

I'd be gutted given a year to live. There's just simply too much stuff to do in life before leaving the world in one year. Although I must admit, riding the back of 330km/h train wasn't the first thing that sprang to mind...

RIP Trainrider.

  • Attempt to overcome the illness.
If you did that and succeeded however, you'd then have to pay off that Ferrari. :p
