I was wondering if there is a easier way to connect to GT5 online. It is usually slow and tedious to get online.

Do you guys have to wait for long periods of time ?

If you are talking about joining someone's lobby online, then yes it is slow for everyone. Usually it will join the room once the loading bar reaches 1/4th:indiff: however if the loading bar decides to past the 1/4th and continues going, well you might as well reset the game because you will most probally be stuck. It's like that for me and I know a few other friends that have it like this. I think its like that for everyone, not sure though

yes it's horrible. multiplayer menus, constant loading, etc... are pitiful

why i don't race online as much as i could. sometimes i sit there for 15 minutes or more before even racing 👎

I usually go from GTMode screen to a online drift room in about 2 mins. It really depends on your connection as well as the rooms connection. If you find a room that has full (or some) bars, it will load up faster. If the room has no bars, expect some load times.

The biggest problem and the thing that takes the most time is actually finding a good room. That's why its good to have a lot of friends that like to race in similar lobbies. Then you can just connect to their room and bypass the whole public lobby search.

Same here. And the worst is (like a few hours ago) that you have to wait a long time and then suddenly everyone gets kicked from the server in the middle of the free run. Then wait again just for someones PS3 to get frozen, not because of them but because the online thing.

That's why honestly I find online pointless except for the seasonals and if I get invited in a private room.

For some reason if i join a room where everyone is on their mic it gets real slow. Even if the connection is good.

Connecting to a lobby takes about 3 minutes for me (Broadband 16Mbit) but I get random disconnects at any times.

The disconnects really spoil the fun.

My PS3 is set up to have a fixed IP and all (needed) ports of my router are open. It always shows NAT-Type 2 whatever that means.

Another thing that annoys me is that while the lobby is loading it should be possible to meanwhile select a car or adjust settings but it isnt. I always have to wait until the lobby is completely loaded.

And during loading it always shows the status "free run" although the status of the race is unknown until the loading is complete. Why doesnt it show "requesting status" until the status of the race is retrieved?

The Network coding/setup/servers obviously still need improvement.

Whatever is wrong, is not on our side. I have a wired connection to my PS3 with a solid internet service (except when it's cloudy since it's sattelite) and I have no problems with any other game except with GT5. It seems that internet speed is not the issue since I know people who are running a quarter of a meg (yes, 256kbps) and they have to wait the same amount of time that the ones that have a 10mbps service.

I work on ship as engineer and we have sattelite connection on board of the ship. The speed is slow but I could play a lot of games online ( GRID, GTA4, MXvsATV Reflex) without any problems. I was connected to GRID lobby in a few seconds even if the room is full. I dont know what is wrong with GT5 but
they must rewrite all online coding system from scratch to be playble. Too many screens while loading, confirmations, searches.
