So when is it coming; with each day that passes, it somehow gets harder to remain connected to other players' rooms. Anyone know if PD is fixing it soon or what?

Servers are a bit wonky lately, but there are a few things you can do to minimize problems.

1. Hardwire to your modem, and reset your modem before you start. Bypass routers.
2. Sync your clock and trophies.
3. Clear your system cache in the game.
4. Avoid mics if possible.
5. Disable custom music.

1. Connect cable from modem to PS3.
5. If you haven't used custom music then you're fine.

Also it's a known fact that if there's a lot of people in the room & a lot of people on mic's this can cause you to be disconnected

Sometimes the original room host makes a room on "High (or higher) Quality" with Mic settings on "High" settings and sets it for max participants. This poses a huge problem for the room later on as it becomes full. The more people in a room with higher quality and a lot of people with mics, the more lag and disconnects some people will experience.

I make it a rule to not enter a room with more than 8 people in it, or a max of 10 (6-8 if all with mics). This is only when I know everyone and we all have solid connections to handle it.

What I did:
Switched from our belkin router to bthomehub 3 router. Belkin sucks for games.
Used a wired connection, think it's called mains Ethernet.

No disconnects at all anymore!

Things have been screwed up bad since the PSN server maintenance on the 16th. I race from 2 A.M. to about 5 A.M. EST and it's next to impossible to race in a room for the first 1 1/2 hours. Me and a friend have also had 2 PS3 lockups this week because of the issues. I hope they get this fixed soon because it's very aggravating and I hate improperly shutting down my PS3.

I race at around 10p CST US and rarely have problems with myself. Lately there does seem to be tremendous lag when trying to choose a standard car. I don't think it's the update, as it's only been about the past 1-2 weeks, or so. I have seen people get dropped, but don't know anything about their set up or pre-game habits, so I can't attest if they've followed the aforementioned advice.

It has been really bad the last two nights. It has to be server problems/unscheduled maintenance because there was at least two times last night that no rooms showed in the lobby and then they slowly started building again. In one of the rooms it kept kicking the host over and over again. There were also major mic problems last night. Finally a friend started up a lounge and a few of us raced in it for a bit.

How do you do that again? My brains not working right now.

To Clear Cache: Options > Scroll all the way down > Utilities (or the GT logo) > Clear Cache. Think that's the directions.

Check your game disc. I was having the same troubles after the update, and was doing everything right. I popped the disc, and it was scored from the laser head. Applied a disc repair kit, haven't frozen or dc'd yet.
