Online drift point races like in Forza3?

Does GT5 need some sort of online drift scoring system?

Because then everyone on the internet would be able to drive like Michael Schumacher (1993-2006) and look like Brad Pitt if they were able to make such bold statements without proper evidence :)

I showed you evidence and you chose to disregard it.

Am I not evidence enough anyway? I know he's competed in D1, I've even seen him judge (and possibly drift) at JDM Allstars events. What's in it for me to back up his lies?
 
Honestly kid the real drifters on forza never went by points the real drifters had judges sitting at every corner and judging them not going off some point system so you are saying your a master drifter and you never had a battle thats sad kid just GTFO

Actually, I've been holding out for GT5, I will be rallying, and gripping more now that I'm buying a wheel. (Loved Rallying in GT3/4!!) I decided to wait to buy one for GT5 instead of Forza. Hopefully my impression will improve once I get it. I remember the difference my DFP made when I got it for GT4.

But mainly yes, I've been drifting on consoles since GT3 and racing for much longer. It's just too damn addicting. I find more often than not, I'll be drifting than anything else. Ever since I started playing racing games, we're talking Test Drive on Amigas back in the 90's, it's fueled a serious addiction. After all, everyone has their favorite style of driving.

Honestly, I enjoyed online drift races and the scoring personally in Forza. It was fun. You don't do competitions every day, I loved jumping online the public rooms and killing a few hours a night doing that. Not only that, but while having fun drifting online, I was also making money each race. I made quite a bit of $$ while just having fun. Can't do that in GT5! I'm not saying that it has to be just like Forza3's system, but some type of point system would have been nice, but that's just me. That "oohs and boos" in arcade mode drift is getting pretty annoying though. After playing GT5 drifting online I was bummed out because I'm so used to forza and the points system, it just felt like a huge bit was missing to me.

FAIL. drift points kill drifting, its all about getting a group of friends and getting some sick tandum runs in, having a good laugh with friends, chilling and making videos with your crew. ITS NOT ABOUT POINTS!!!!!

I agree, it's all about having fun. The only reason I played GT5 online is because of it's layed back atmosphere and friendly community. I found that when things get competitive, things tend to turn ugly.

I enjoy drifting just for the thrill of it. Not how many points I can rack up. But I don't object to anyone who likes that. But each to his own.
 
I really hope that this thread doesn't become a war. Both are completely different games.

You are missing my point.
Say you wanted to make a private room and hold a competition, there's no points structure which makes that virtually impossible.

You made a video for turn10? Congrats, that doesn't make you god, nor does it make your opinion hold any more weight.
I make drifting videos in REAL LIFE for FormulaD and other drift events. I even drift IRL.

Then do not act as if your opinion means anything concerning FM3 just because you're ranked blah. :dunce: Its hard to believe you're around drifting and do those videos IRL, yet you want drift points to determine a tandem battle.
 
The reason I put up my rank, was to show I actually spent some time drifting in Forza3 and wasn't just some beginner noob with no cred. 10,000 rank is FAR from perfect, but it does show I did give some good seat time.

And lets clarify things right now, I played public lobbies more than I competed, and I enjoyed the points system, as it was a way to have fun, see where you stand and make money for me at the same time. You don't always have ppl willing to judge while playing online drift events, but in F3 you didn't have to.

So stop beating a dead horse because this is MY opinion, not yours.

And stop trying to demean me because apparently it's the devil for liking any kind of point structure, because that just makes you come off as being childish :D :D :D

porschedrifter are you mad because GT5 takes more skill to drift than Forza? i heard some other xbox fanboys on the mic the other night saying how much easier it is in Forza, maybe because it's an arcade racer i'm really not sure...keep at it and you'll get better :)
 
I am just going to say this once and hopefully this war will end. Forza and GT have different game physics. Both of them take a lot skills to drift and race no matter what. So comparing both games isn't fair cause one does better than the other. Both are very good games and they prove that the consoles have a chance against PC sim. GT5 represents Sony and Forza represents MS. So I hope they continue to improve on the future.

I was dreading this day for a while. Hate to say it, but welcome to the maturity level of Forza players.

Also, now that I look at it. If those are "professionally" done videos for Formula D, I'm a National Geographic photographer for drifting.

Post yours up too I would love to see them. The quality of those videos are horrible, and they are pretty old with exception of the 4th one. But I'm not going to waste my time uploading new stuff just for this thread. I've shot for FD and Speed before but you do not get to keep the footage genius.

And you are talking about the "maturity of Forza players" yet you resort to trying to dis my videos.

And we resort to the "maturity of Forza players" because you called me a noob (even though I got 2nd in FMDA, you should know what that is) and called Slap a noob (even though he used to be part of BLKJ, you must know what that is). Now I hope you know where we're coming from.

I would but Flickr restricts the amount you can upload at a time. Photobucket is a nice quick upload.

and for the record don't peg me as a Forza lover, I absolutely loved GT3 (bought ps2 just for that game)/ preordered GT4 and played that for years, despised Forza 1/2, Forza3 came out and there was nothing decent to play, this was the closest thing to a racing sim for 360, so it just grew on me.

Well you cant expect to come in talk **** about the game and expect every one to just smile while you piss in every ones face. I personally hated the game when I first got it too, dont worry but it will kind of grow on you at least it did for me. I do miss the level of "tuning" that you could do in forza but there are things that GT5 does so much better.
 
I have been drifting on Forza 3 since it came out and me and my mates dont use the points, they are annoying and unrealistic. Points dont really mean much to how good you are. Just Drift because you enjoy it and have fun not because you want some numbers. The real test of a Drifter is probably tandeming and just being able to drift a circuit confidently not how many points he/she gets.
 
GT games have always gave you the satisfaction of owning a vehicle(s) of your choice unlike any other race game out there. It is more so with GT5. I mean i have played racers that cover the whole spectrum of the racing genre except for hardcore race simulators/simuladores :) and even though my fav racing game still is FI WGPII on N64 i've almost forgotten about it playing the likes of NFS Underground and the Colin Mcrae series but that impact Gran Turismo had made on me is out of this world. I know there are more FUN racers on the other console if you know what i mean but for a true car lover there is only one game and that's this one. Like that guy said its cool and fun with points and stuff, addictive but man at some point you have to grow up and pick up GT. I don't mean GT is only for the hardcore (and with this 5th installation even more pampers friendly) but IT IS for those who want to go the mile and master it. The skill progression is slow but rewarding. And it's more rewarding than Forza will ever be. ive played part 2 on 360 and it doesn't cut it for me. I'll be frank GT5 has so many cons that at some point i tore the game box apart and i'm a GT boy since GT2. I mean 800 dummy cars? maaan that's crap. But as this game get's under your skin you realise where those 6 years of development time have gone.
