Alright me and a friend of mine that is also a member here at GTPlanet, were talking about how to make online racing better besides the 'ol private rooms..to make the racing much bigger, and not keeping racing to yourselves, we need licenses. Like the same in GT4. And every other GT before that. In order to race with the Big Dogs, you need to pass hard tests. They won't be hard if your a good driver..It will be hard to the drivers that take up space in the races we have now.(Punters) and so on..:scared:....

Also, what do you guys think about endurance races online?.I mean like get a friend or two or three and switch off and claim the prize every month or couple months.24 hours of Le Mans, 24 hours of Nurburgring,9 hours of Tsukuba online equipped with complete weather changes, damage, and the guy actually jumping out of the car and the second driver jumps in, also you friend who is taking over for his shift. I don't if this would be even possible but, what do you guys think of the idea though?💡

I think that would be an awesome idea.

I especially like the idea of licensing to race at certain levels of the online racing venues. Not only that, I would like to see races set up for those that have all Silver ro all Gold licenses - that would really thin the herd. We really need some way of controlling the entrants to the races we are in or are hosting. There are a couple that I would have banned this week.

I would also love to see some 2 hour, 3 hour races that would be A-Spec only. Longer races would be fun, but working stress and distractions would take their toll on anything longer than a couple of hours.

Nice idea but once private rooms come along. And as long as they are fully customizable,
races length,PP points, tyre restrictions, car class and of course passwords.

We'll be able to pick and choose who we race with, set up regular race events etc.

Not sure about a full 24hr race. As sxboyd says 2hr 3hr races would be good. I'm sure most of us have other commitments ( there is life outside of GT5P ).

The driver swap would be a nice touch though. As would fully animated pitstops.

I was thinking the same myself the other night, With game saves being out Noobs can just get themselfs a nice hard earned car easy and go online, surely this would reduce people with poor driving skills online?

Couldve posted it in the same thread though, could you not?

He told me to post it and I posted it, and it looks like he forgot and posted it himself.:dunce:..o well..

I think online licenses would just test the driving ability...not the driving ethics, or what strategy is used to win. I have raced many "punter punks" who pocess very good driving skills, but still resort to running other racers off the road in order to pass and win. Even though they probably didn't have to use such tactics to get ahead. Some guys just seem to think think that is fun, unfortunately.

I've always liked the idea of teams and 24 hour races. Two or three man teams and do 24 hours at Lemans (Sarhte) Nurburgring, and there are probable other courses that would lend themselves very well to 12 or 24 hour teams events.

I like the idea of licenses too. I'm pretty tired of bad drivers knocking me about, or crasher/bashers doing it on purpose. Of course, as another posted noted, if we get private rooms which allow us to password protect them, or exclude bad drivers, and allow us to set the number of laps or time limits for the events, that problem will be solved.

Licenses will work for about a day or two after launch. Then some tit will post a save online and that'll be the end of that. If they reg them online then it'll rule out things like setting up new accounts to put 'GTP' in your nick and the like.

Private rooms is the way to go and fixing the penalty system so it actually punishes the guilty and leaves the innocent racing.

Yeah. That's the finishing blow for Online Licenses. O well..the Endurance part isn't bad neither. Once you past a certain point in the race, you can't quit or back out.

Not if they do what SOCOM FTB2 for the PSP does, the saves have your MAC address in it and if the ps3 has a different adress then it will error out and not work.

I believe that Burnout: Paradise does something similar with save files. If you attempt to access the save data while logged in with a different PSN account, the game won't let you load the data. This PSN store version of GT5:P won't let you play the game on a different account either, but the Blu-ray will. Perhaps this could be used to prevent posted game-saves, but it would be irritating for those of us with a regular PSN account and a GTP_ account.

MAC address does not change with PSN accounts. It's built straight into the hardware.

Right - something similar. While SOCOM won't allow a different MAC address, Burnout won't allow a different PSN account. Burnout saves online and offline progress for each unique PSN account on its servers, and the savedata can't be accessed by another account. I guess what I said was kind of vague and confusing. I didn't mean that they were the same, but they both restricted access to savedata files.

this is a pretty cool idea... kind of like America's Army... where you have to "pass a class" to be able to play different events/use certain weapons.

The idea of allowing players to play only with their level (or below) of "success" in tests (bronze, silver, gold) is also very good. rFactor does some very good test drives as well, teaching the player to safely pass other cars and so on... without the game getting too technicall (and scare potential buyers away) of course.

The approach can be very close to an MMO in the sens that sometimes, you just don't have the level to reach a certain "zone" and you need your friend's help to "level up" ... in GT5, getting help or joining clans would also make a lot of sense in that respect... some testes could also require more then one player to learn Drafting and similar features.
