Impulse Trick
Hello. Today, me and bunch of people (around 11 or 12) were all cruising at Sarthe. Out of random, the lobby and froze and almost everyone was prevented from doing anything. We each had to turn off and turn back on our PS3's. My question is, how could this have happened? Could it be hacking related? I doubt it was because of the host's Internet connection but that could be a factor. Has anyone had this happen to them lately?

"Overhacked" cars have been reported to cause this scenario. However it has happened with no such cars in the room as well.. so.. possibly?

There was a guy that joined the lobby and typed in chat "IM FREEZING THIS LOBBY!" and it subsequently did.

is that possible for someone to freeze the room on purpose? :guilty:

It could possibly have something to do with hacked cars. Or maybe It has something to do with this secret menu? I'm not really sure what that is so I'm not sure if it could be a contributing factor. As far as changing tires that doesn't really seem like it would completely freeze a lobby. The only thing I could think of is if they were switching to "Super Soft" hacked tires.

Yes. 👍

Although I have not experienced it personally, I have read a few times that this issue can happen if a player changes to a non-standard tyre such as supersoft or a (c) or (v) type tyre.

I tried all these tires in a lounge and no one froze ....

Second thought, that can't be it. We had the tires restricted to Sport Soft or less.

Quick question was it a fixed host lobby?

I'm not exactly sure but I think it's when a certain person has to be the host. If the host leaves the lobby will close.

Yeah fixed host is when if the room creator leaves the room will close. Is that what they room was set to?

No I don't think so. The hosts didn't leave the lobby straight up froze everyone's game.

Hummmm for now on you might want to make sure it is a fixed host or not in the future. If you have this problem in the future this might confirm when they can do this to you.

A few of my friends said they were in a fixed host lobby and this happened. I just want to make sure before I assume it has something to do with it or not.

had same sort of problem, changed to open lobby problem same, players cannot see each other, black screen for some, disconnect from server

I had a strange experience last night. :scared:
I had been in an open lobby/room for quite some time, everything was running sweet.
I had changed cars several times, messed with set-ups etc..then I changed (or tried to) again and the screen froze at my garage screen.
It would not exit, change car or anything. :grumpy:
In the end I turned the PS3 off in disgust. 👎 :guilty:

So how can this be prevented. Some jerk came into our room Friday night and locked up everyone's PS3. He then got on the mic and began bragging and laughing about the lock up. The only thing we could do was power off our PS3's.

Also, how can I report this person? I can't seem to find the grievance report icon that used to be in the XMB (i think). I'm not 100% sure who it was so I want Sony to look into the matter. One of the guys in the room was a level two and had only played GT5 so I'm thinking that was the person.

It would take the whole room to report him (on the xmb grief report) for Sony to even look at. Some people use a computer program to do it

Thanks for your replies. Tonight I talked to someone else that was in the room and he thinks it was another user. The next time it happens I'll grab a pencil and write down the time, track and user names and file a report. I would probably be wasting my time unless they ban the machine...

No problem. And also. They probably will only give the person a suspension (if and i mean if they even do that)

I have a feeling it is something kind if network flooder. Be amazed at all your can do with network tools on a PC. Shame people use it for stuff like this. They may think it is trolling, but a real troll doesn't need to freeze rooms.
