Hello all,

first of all, I do apologize if there is another thread on this.

Now, my question is this: as a host, is there any differences between online lobbies and My Lounge?

I plan on starting a race series on GTP, and I was wondering which one will least likely lose connection. In other words, which one is better for long races?

Cheers!

I think that 'My lounge' can only be joined by people on your friends list. Online rooms can be joined by anyone I think.

This. Online lobbies usually seem to be more stable when there are a lot of people also.

i race in aDTM series. all races are through my lounge about 20 to 25 laps.most of our racers have no issues. a couple have disconnected but that is because they are having router problems.

my lounge is the way to go.

good luck:)

if you have a bunch of friends you race and they know the time you are racing. my lounge is by far the best. they just go to profile then (your) profile, then (your) lounge and join. easy. only for friends list people though.

if you want to race random people (or your friends dont check your lounge) you need to set up in the lobby.

hope that helps.

If you're in an Open lobby your friends can still go to your profile and join it.

This worked for me.

I run a race series for friends, we tried using private lobbies - at least 2-5 people per night couldn't join. Moved to an online 'open' lobby and alot more people could join in.

Also, you can kick people out, helps keep the house in order and means any 'gatecrashers' can be dealt with if they start acting like ***** or break the rules.

I thought you can kick people out in My Lounge and Online Lobbies...

Hmmm, I'm not sure, I've had people come into my private lounge causing carnage, tried to kick them but the option (which is there in online open lobbies) isn't there.

If there's another way, I'd love to know........anyone???

I've hosted large races in my lounge with no connection or disconnect issues. Even had some Aussie friends in the race too.

I believe you cannot kick anyone who is currently in your lounge. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. I friended someone I thought was clean, only to find that once he was in, he started driving like an idiot (backwards, etc). When I tried to boot him, I clicked on his name, and there was no option, as there is when I open a public lounge. I had to wait for him to leave, then unfriend him.

If you are hosting a race series and don't want random people entering, and you having to quit your practice or qualifying session to boot them, then My Lounge is the way to go, no question. I've only been in one series but it was done in a private lounge for many practice and race sessions with no problems.

In a race series I'm taking part in we tried to use My Lounge but some random people on someones trade list entered the room and couldn't be kicked. Also, some people kept changing the regs and starting the race to suit themselves (all aids on and unlimited cars allowed when it was meant to be no aids and Ferrari F1's).

I'm a newby and still trying to learn some things. From the previous postings, it sounds like there is no way to boot someone from your own lounge. Is that correct? We have problems at times with friends of friends following each other in and starting trouble on occasion. I don't want to unfriend the original friend, but don't know how to "bbot" the trouble makers from my lounge. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Never believe anything until it is officially denied!
