Anyway, my friend is having a major problem in the online lounges..
Whenever he joins a lobby its all normal.. but if someone joins the lobby after he joins the lobby, he will get kicked out automatically from the lounge. Like in the lobby in hes screen everyone freezes in the lobby and he even cant hear if anyone is talking with the mics and has to reconnect to get all back to normal. He has to join again the lobby.. He has had the problem for a long time now and cant seem to fix it.
Any suggestions?

It cannot be about the connection, he has 5mb download and 5mb upload. And hes ping is about 7-10. Thats even better than mine (even me with my 5mb download and 1mb upload can host lobbys easy). So it definitely cant be in his connection!

you dont always get as good internet as your provider says, my mate is ment to have 6mb and only has 1-2

I have a type one connection and I think I might have this problem:

I like your avatar by the way.

EDIT: MAC address and Secondary DNS removed from the picture. Sorry hackers! :)

ill ask him about his NAT too..
NB. I'd rather remove the MAC address from the picture : )

I only just noticed that too. I don't want to get hacked by annonymous like they hacked sony, right? :nervous: . and NB?

How did you disable the UPnP I tried and can't seem to disable it

When you go to set up a new Internet connection and select custom it will eventually ask if you want to disable UPnP .

Thanks I will try that

Be aware though. If you don't have UPnP, and you have a wireless router without a PPPoe IP address then you will get a Type 3 connection, and you won't be able to connect to anybody. 👍 .

I am on a wired connection from my DSL modem, Would that still apply. I just checked and I still have a NAT1 connection

If you have a NAT Type 1 connection then you don't need UPnP. Having NAT Type 1 alone means that your connection is BEAST :sly: .

I have tried but it seems that I only ever get NAT1 when I do a test
NAT type 1, DL/DOWN 2.9MB, DL/UP 566.8kbps

UPnp disabled
Media server disabled

NAT2 is the best of those three.. try to get it.

No, NAT 1 is the best connection. It measn that you are connected directly to the internet or have a PPPoE IP address. Since I set up a PPPoE address for my router and got a type 1 connection, there has not been one lobby or player on GT5 that I wasn't able to connect to. But before, when I had a NAT 2, I could only connect to about 50% of players.

I believe that if you have a wired connection, you can only get a NAT Type 1 (which is good)

NAT Type 1: You are connected directly to the internet using a cat5 ethernet cable or have a PPPoE connection. This is the connection that is best suited for online gameplay.

NAT Type 2: You are connected to the internet using a wireless connection using a router that supports UPnP. If you have a really good ISP, then Type 2 can almost match Type 1 connections. Also can be obtained by using a cat6 ethernet cable.

NAT Type 3: This is the connection type that you do not want to have. You are connected to the internet using a wireless connection using a router that doesn't support UPnP. Having a Type 3 connection will limit the online features while playing online and in GT5, you can only join or create lobbies that have a fixed host. Very limited indeed.

I have wired connection. No wireless here.
And I have Nat type 2.

Add: I've also got the cat6 ethernet cable hooked directly into the modem router provided by my ISP.

Explain please? More info?

I don't know what the case is?

Are you saying I'd get nat 1 if I used a cat5 cable?

Quote of K1ngKlicK off another thread:

I thought you could only get NAT Type 1 by plugging your PS3 directly into your modem via a CAT5 cable?

I think something's off here.

Supposedly cat6 is BETTER than cat5.

At least it's advertised as such.

That said, I'm not saying it is better... But at least one would think it's the same if nothing else? I'm just saying why would you get a better connection with a cat5/inferior cable?

No, you don't.

Wikipedia
Category 6 cable, commonly referred to as Cat 6, is a cable standard for Gigabit Ethernet and other network physical layers that is backward compatible with the Category 5/5e and Category 3 cable standards. Compared with Cat 5 and Cat 5e, Cat 6 features more stringent specifications for crosstalk and system noise. The cable standard provides performance of up to 250 MHz and is suitable for 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX (Fast Ethernet), 1000BASE-T/1000BASE-TX (Gigabit Ethernet) and 10GBASE-T (10-Gigabit Ethernet).

Whereas Category 6 cable has a reduced maximum length when used for 10GBASE-T; Category 6a cable, or Augmented Category 6, is characterized to 500 MHz and has improved alien crosstalk characteristics, allowing 10GBASE-T to be run for the same distance as previous protocols.

TL,DR - Maximum connection speed, waaay ahead of what anyone's ISP could provide.

PS3 directly to (cable)modem without router - NAT 1.
Router with upnp / portforwarding / DMZ enabled - NAT2.

PS3 directly to (cable)modem without router - NAT 1.

AH, yes, see that's it CABLE.
I have DSL.

You need CABLE PLUS connect directly to the modem, to get nat1.

(As I suspected - has NOTHING to do with a cat5 or cat6 cable. Nothing at all.)

My bad :banghead: .

EDIT: But that wouldn't explain why I have a wireless connection and have NAT Type 1? I have a PPPoE IP address.

Physical connectivity to the router is irrelevant, i.e. if it's wireless or wired does not matter.

What matters is that you use your PS3 to dial in, entering your ISP's settings in the PS3 directly - no router in between to do that automagically.

I am having the same issues ever since the last update 2.04.I never had that before so I have kind of given up for now joining online lounges.
