I want to ask you guys something, since you've all been playing this game for much longer than me:
Is it normal to have your car behave (very) differently from the free run to the race itself?
I kept going to the kitty litter during the frst lap at Suzuka because both the braking spots and the speeds that I was entering the turns were all different than they were on the free run, like I had N tires instead of S2's...

Very common. There is a mysterious boost, no one is quite sure how it works but it affects speed and/or braking distance and/or grip.

Also some people (myself included) think there is some kind of tyre effect where they don't heat up until midway through the first lap and then degrade slightly toward the end of the race. Obviously with the boost effect this is hard to prove, even to yourself.
 
There's also the "dirty tyres" effect which happens when you go off circuit and return, for a while, the performance of the tyres is reduced until they are clean again.
 
last week I had a racer called PITUSS (pt) in a black evo tuned. All he did in his races was ram ram and ram. I brake tested him a few times and punt him off to the litter just to teach him a lesson. I've been racing him lately and his driving style has totally changed, does not ram anyone with a GTP tag but anyone else is a differnt story again
yeh i have noticed this as well. i also noticed this with another guy in a silver rx7, he let me past even when he was on the apex of the turn, he got off the line and let me through. the same can not be said about the guy behind me though lol, he got barged off like a bit*h. it looks like people are noticing that we give respect to all racers and maybe they're some of them are giving us some back. :)
 
I tend to make a lot of allowances for rear end shunts, going into corners or being pushed out on an overtake. A lot of the time these could be down to braking mistakes or loss of car control - that's not necessarily malicious. Eventually, tho, the shadow of a doubt is removed and the gloves are off from then on in.

The one time I don't give second chances is zig-zag blocking on a long straight, like heading into R130 Suzuka. Anyone tries that just one time and I'm more than happy to sit behind and use them as a piece of mobile armco to help me round the corner.

yeh same here, most of the time it is Lag.

Some good racing there! Timppaq you are very fast, It was great watching you and Rudi battle it out, I was hanging in there good until i made a trip into the kitty litter on turn 1, lap 3. :dunce:

Yeah, sorry to duke_of_pendle, I braked a little too late a couple of times and accidentally shunted, sorry if you felt I was being too aggressive. Nice driving btw, couldn't quite catch you through the rest of the race.

Also, sorry to Monza_GTRP for several shunts, all of them because of other idiots, the first, on the first lap, was because of an idiot shunting me from behind. The second one on the second lap was because of the idiot who decided to drive back onto the track right where I was, and I deflected off him into Monza, again. I think I had a third minor tap somwhere too.

I'm headed out to Suzuka PP600, I'll be on either the 15 or 10 min rotation, depending on quits and such. Hope to see some of you out there.

I'm still trying to learn a lot right now (ranging from driving with the wheel to dodging punters), but I'm getting better and it feels really good to have great races with people you recognise from here. :cheers:


Also, a couple of great races with GTP_Stotty (which won every race that I was also participating with him), and 2 more with GTP tags, that unfortunately I forgot their names.

I think I'll join you, PP750 is crap as usual, some idiot called MadCatz2000 or something rammed me a couple of times and then failed at brake testing me in a later race, so he kept quitting as host when I overtook him.
At least i had a laugh watching him brake test me and epically fail just before the 130R, I wasn't even behind him when he tried it, I was half overtaking :lol:

I'll be going to Suzuka PP600 with a red EVO X Tuned ('n00b car', but I'm just learning the ropes, so it suits me) at 5:30pm (it's now 4:25pm here). If we do race together, try not to make much of a draft as you lap me. :D:tup:
What car are you currently using?
 
Wont be racing for a while people, im downloading battlefield bad company demo, and will be playing that quite alot :p

Slackers, Get back behind the wheel! Ha Ha, only kidding! I just had two races and there was only me and GTP_mr_VOLCANO, I pulled over in the first race after being blocked, and side swiped by some random evo guy, Nice I thought, Then next race get punted off, Am 24 secs behind, I manage to catch back up to them all, 2 sec gap, get punted again by another evo. :crazy: :ouch:

Back at XX:00. Hope to see a few more gtp drivers.
 
Hey, guys.

Just had my first online experience today. Tried the game yesterday for the first time, and also the first time I've played with a wheel.
It's been hard, but I'm improving...

Tried the basic Golf V GTI race at HSR, did 5, won all of them (despite all the punters).
Just tried Suzuka 600 (won by our own GTP_Stotty), finished 5th. The tunning I made for the burgundy F430 still needs a lot of tweaking. The car was dancing all over the place... :dunce:

Hope to see you guys online (at least until you fade on the horizon...) :)

Lol, just tried out a tactic that backfired on Suzuka :)
Last lap, 1st place, straight after spoon.
It's easy to be slipstreamed and overtaken there, so i had an idea.
Don't push full throttle, so that the person in 2nd had to overtake.
I then would just slipstream and overtake again before the next left so that i would be in the lead entering the chicane.
That maybe would have worked, if i didn't miss shift and put it 1 gear to high.
I was lucky that i could keep my 2nd spot, because mr volcano was right behind me.

better of using 130R as you're point of come back, take the best line you can to exit spoon as fast as possible to make the pass as awkward as you can. Then they'll likely overrun or brake to early for 130R.
