Online NASCAR Event announced, also Online Maintenance

The NASCAR Online Event for Jeff Gordon in-game racing gear has been Officially announced! Starting August 29 at 11pm EST you will be able to win Jeff Gordon's racing gear.

Also Online Maintenance is announced, you will not be able to access ANY online Gran Turismo 5 services, the schedule is as follows:

Start: 8/23/11 10am EST
End: 8/23/11 16:00 (4pm) EST

Start: 8/29/11 22:00 EST
end 8/29/11 23:00 EST

Start 9/6/11 10am EST
end 9/6/11 18:00 EST

Start: 9/13/11 10am EST
End 9/13/11 18:00 (that's eight hours folks) EST

Will this event only be available during the 29, or for a while?
Also, is it going to be counted as a Season Event that everyone is able to join, or a time trial, or a special event you need to sign to?
ALSO, only one winner will be able to win the Gear, or several, or anyone who wins the Seasonal Event, Special Event? (or Time Trial)

The announcement at GT homepage indicates it to be a Seasonal with the gear beeing the reward for just winning it:

I thought it was the 24th that they were doing this NASCAR event? Damn maintenance. :grumpy:

I knew the NASCAR events were incoming because of that screen I saw while playing GT5.

However, there is a ton of server maintenance scheduled, almost to the point in where I believe the servers will be "fully operational".

With the busy Fall line up of games in route, I have a feeling GT5 is going to get only better. A lot better.:)
 
Looks like the durations and days for the maintenance are different for UK users (maybe EU as well?)

All these times are GMT. Don't forget we're still in BST in the UK!

24th August 17:00 until 21:00

30th August 03:00 until 04:00

7th September 17:00 until 23:00

14th September 17:00 until 23:00

edit: that announcement must be wrong as the server is now offline. I copied this from the in-game news which now can't be accessed :D

Nascar Seasonal... Win Jeff Gordon's racing gear??? Well... it's something... :sick: I think...
 
i think it will be similar to expert seasonal.
i wonder if you can trade the gear?

and we now maybe get a top gear event to!!
 
I'm happy to get more NASCAR events (also hoping for karts and rally!)
but i think these suits will get 'over used' and everyone will start wearing them online, so when someone wins we will always see Jeff Gordon...

Nascar is a right laugh once you get them on a race track as opposed to a bloody oval (trying not to grind teeth). I find driving in circles listless and to be honest quite ****e lol.

Shame they aren't bigger tracks like Nurburgring or Le Sarthe or Monza this time instead of Tsukuba & Trial Mountain (are the two tracks) Indy and Daytona the ovals - but that's just what I heard off the dog outside the corner shop earlier on tonight.

I'm not complaining because I'm happy to batter the DTM or Super GT or Supercar events all weekend he he.
