First off I know this has been discussed on here before but the threads dont appear to have any solution in them, just everone discusing the problem.

Now I know some of you must know what im talking about here, enter a room full of people everone is "apperntly" racing at the same time yet only a few cars appear in my race when there should be a full grid. This problem keeps happening to me and i dont whats causing it or how to fix it, GT5 is the only game i have ever encouterd this issue, I had no problem like this at all in prologue.

Most of these online problems for me happend after the 1.06 patch ever since then i keep getting 706 errors, random disconects, invisable racers. and before people who have never seen this before and ask "are you sure there not just sitting in the lobby not racing?" no there not, plenty of times a player who wasnt on track for me end up displaying the "I won" message or whatever they use and then the end of race timer begins.

Does anyone know what causes this or if there is any fix? Ive tryed all the simple fix's clearing cache etc..

Im on a Wired connection through a router (used to be wireless thought moving to wired would fix this but it didnt)
Nat type 2
Bandwidth is high

Any help at all would be realy appreciated and id perfer if people only post here if they have a solution rather than just discussing it again as i know many people like me suffer from this and its ruining mine and probably many others online experiance.

Been a common problem for the last few days. Don't know what causing it but entering the lobby's twice usually fixes it.

Clean your system cache in gt5, it use to help. And also, it depends on what connection/ network equipment people are behind. The basic lack of knowledge causes all these problems. The profanity is huge, especially those with 100/100 mbit running wireless while downloading stuff and have multiple users on the network. This combined with the poorly implemented online play is dangerous.

I Mean, everyone knows that you must have at least 500/500mbit and latency 0.2 ms to play online.....

Could someone tell me why you would turn off all driving aids for a race???
thanks

Because it real driving I see the aids as cheating, this is a real driving simulator game plus some of the aids slow your car down

Thanks for the bump but this has nothing to do with the topic... and cheers to the guys who did reply with help, but clearing the system cache does absolutly nothing at all to help me get rid of this problem.

Hopefully when PSN is restored world wide and we get the next GT5 update (1.10 i think it should be?) that might fix some of my online issues,
I could realy use the help of a internet savy guy to sugest how should have my connection set up in network settings and my router settings.

I imagine some of this is down to the psn being compromised lately. I've also seen suggestions that its all caused by your router, one user claimed that getting a new/different router fixed his issues.

I gave up on GT5 a month or so ago. Spend 2 hours online 2 race twice. Hope they do something about it but for now im done. Way to frustrating for a game. :grumpy:

I feel you mate, its incredible frustrating this game has to be the worst online experiance ive ever had and its so dissapointing as Gran Tursimo 5 is the sole reason for me owning a PS3

I guess the PSN problem could be part of the cause, but I was having these same issues way before all that happend as I stated all started back with 1.06 update and things never improved since then, just now its getting to the point of being so annoying I dont want to play it anymore so I decided to ask for help. Hopefully i dont need to buy a new router, I have no idea how to port forward or whatever, as I still live with my parents and the router is my dads so if port forwarding messes up the internet for him then I wont be able to do it. :indiff: I know for a fact that many, many people suffer from this issue and its realated to this game only as far as I know, there must be someone who has managed to solve this?

This has also worked for some friends and me.

I can't find the topic now, but someone also said "updating your router" solved his/his mates problem iirc. He had no idea what it meant, nor do I.

Hope you can fix it...

I've seen this since February when I got the game. One person in particular. We were in a race series but we could never see each other on the track. It was annoying and frustrating. Then we couldn't see each other in another racing series in March. We just remote race each others drivers now lol.

It has happened to me in my 1st race online, I didn't know what was happening, but as has been mentioned, exiting the lobby & re-entering definitely works. Also clearing the cache can help, but I've read that it's best to restart your PS3 immediately after clearing the cache.
It makes sense that sharing your bandwidth, with laptops PC's etc on your home network would effect gameplay, I'm guessing other peoples connection in the lobby would play a part to.
Hopefully the next update will fix this, online is my main reason for playing GT5 now.

its your internet speed or theirs. i had this problem when i had slow internet. since i upgraded i dont have any issues. Also if you have this problem or the 706 error, go to you network connection settings and reconnect your ps3 again. Another issue is people seting the quality to Highest which is pointless ans causes issues, set it to standard with chat off or to low

I just fixed this problem by bypassing my wireless router completely. I hard wired directly to the modem and have not had that issue in 3 days of online play now. I believe my neighbor was accessing my internet and was causing such a drain on my upload speeds. Not sure if that was it but it seems to have corrected the issue.

Hopefully im allowed to try and bring this topic back to life as I'm still suffering from this issue. To re-cap on what my problem is:
For example I enter an online lobby or room with say 12 people in it. I can see from the names list on the right of the screen 6 players are on track it's telling me what car they're driving.
The other 6 people have a constant loading bar under their names, which means I will not be able to see them when they enter the track nor can they see me.
When I am in the lobby I can see that they're entering the garage to change car or tune setups. (The car or spanner icon will appear next to the name)
But I never get to see them on track.

I dont know if this is a problem at my end or to do with GT5 servers, but considering the fact that GT5 is the only game ive encounterd this issue makes me think its a GT5 problem. But if thats the case then why does it not effect everyone?
My internet is'nt the best in the world but it is by no means the worst.

If anyone has any help or a solution to offer please do.

Im on a wired connection (Netgear Router can find exect model if that would help)
Nat type 2
From the ps3 connection test between 17mb-19mb download speed and 1mb-2mb upload speed

This has only happened to me with a bad internet connection.

Reset internet and reenter room problem solves itself. Of course it also seems to depend on if the room's settings are too high for the connection and how many people are in at once.

I've heard using a cable instead of wireless helps with connectivity issues online.
