So I got GT5 a bit late because I only recently got my playstation. I play it occasionaly ... everyonce in a while Il get into that addiction phase and log hours on this game. The problem has been that I just cant get a good online experience out of it. Whenever I search online, there arent enough races going on, most have a lot of ping so it wont let me join them ( I live in Lebanon- but have NAT 2) and those that I can join are usually ones I dont want to go into because Im not familiar enough with the track or the cars that are racing are different than the ones I have ect. Il often join anyways and buy a new car or retweek one I have, and just get used to the track but theres often a long wait for a race, only 3 or 4 people racing, and its just not as enjoyable. When I compare the online experience to first person shooters like battlefield its just miles apart. I mean why dont htey have a search functionality? For example, search for a specific track ... a specific car or PP rating ect ...

So The purpose of the rant above is not me ranting, but explaining my difficulties. Any one have any tips that they use to overcome that and get a good online experience. Also has it always been 3- 4 players per lobby or did I just join too late?

Most of the serious racing takes place in organised series on forums like GT Planet. Have a look at the different clubs & leagues in here, & the race series in the other forum, & see if anything takes your fancy.

hmmm .. is there anyplace for someone who isnt that good? Im really an amature at best right now ... I have a few good races but I tend to be inconsistent and will crash often on unfamiliar tracks so I dont want to ruin races for more serious gamers.

Yes, there is. This series is suited towards all kinds of beginers, & they'll help you to improve as well.

👍

You're welcome, happy racing! :D

ORDL are looking for members mate, despite being a beginner there will soon be a tier for racers like yourself. Pop over to our intermediate thread, we are all racing there until we have enough members for the league to expand.

Has the zombie apocalypse started?
 :sly:
We need a zombie apocalypse race series! :D ;)

Most of the best racing you can find, stresses clean racing over all else.

I know for myself, I don't win very often, but I have found friendly, clean racers to race with, and it's usually exciting and fun, whether I finish in front, out back, or somewhere in the middle.

This is a good set of rules that pretty much explains the stuff that most consider "clean" racing.

Not all races on GTPlanet forum use this list of rules. But chances are, if someone says "clean", those guidelines are the types of things they're talking about.

If someone says "dirty"... I have a list of things here:
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=261562
look under "Prohibited", and you'll see a list of things that clean racers shun!

For example, it doesn't take any skill or speed to exercise track etiquette.
Most people won't get too annoyed with you, if you hit another car by accident, but give the position back immediately.
Everyone messes up from time to time, what you do when you bungle it is what's important.

In other words, as long as you're not a total kook nutball, you should be able to find some racing with people in this forum, that suits your interests & experience level.

If you're scouting in the public lobby, here's a good guide for that:
