How many of you are absolutely sick of the penalties awarded by Gran Turismo when racing online.
I can see what Sony are trying to do by making the racing fair and even but all they are doing is killing the greatest game ever made,
I have my own karting race team (MAW Motors Racing) and i know its not proper track racing but its the next best thing, and one thing you learn about a race track is that some people are amazing some are **** and others just shouldn't be allowed within 60 miles of a race circuit but that's life. Crashes happen, people run wide and cut corners and people brake down.
The whole idea of penalties in racing is ok but only if the actions taken by the driver have gained them an advantage. Its then up to that driver to decide for themselves if they made up time and it should be up to them to back off slightly to lose what they had gained.
If you ram someone or drive dangerously you go through a series of warning flags before you are asked to leave the race, you also get points on your racing licence for being a complete arse and they are the same as points on your road licence, if you get 12 you are banned. This would be a far better way of dealing with the idiots, if they cant log on they cant cause problems
For instance i kept beating a French bloke last night so he got a little mad and tried to ram me off the track, which is fair do's in my mind, i know im better than him and if he has to cheat to win then that's his problem. But what really annoyed me was that he rammed me several times and i was awarded the penalty, then when trying to catch him up i overshot a corner, ran wide and ended up in the gravel, i spent 10 seconds getting out to then find i was given another penalty for taking a short cut??????????????????????
If SONY reads these Forums PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get rid of the penalties or give us the option of choosing if we want them or not.
Have a look at LIVE FOR SPEED (LFS) on the PC, its not amazing to look at but the way you race and play online is certainly something sony should look at, i also think the driving physics are more realistic than Gran Turismo. So if a cheap nasty open source game can get it right why cant Polyphony
