There's a thread for "Worst You've encounntered online", so I thought I mught create a thread with a bit of cheer, for the most brilliant, unexpected and hilarious moments.

Mine is running NASCAR online, and slightly annoying this guy who thought 20 laps races were 1 lap shootouts. So I was down low off of turn 4 against the yellow line, and he tries to go below the yellow and wreck me. Of course I moved over slightly and he clipped the pit entry... Pitting Himself!!!! . Funny thing was the reactions of guys on mics following, including the room host, laughter drowning the V8 roar for an entire half a lap. Classic!

Feel free to share your experiences!

Mines first practice V8 challenge race at Monza, on the second chicane I was slowing down only to see JB n Moe clip each other onto the grass and both overtake me on the chicane going backwards   How they didnt hit me ill never know :)

Pushing a fiat 500 up to 300kp/hs in a bugatti :D the reaction of other people as we over took them on mulsane straight was hilarious :D

I was racing a 600pp race at suzuka east in my RM Elise 111r.
I was second behind a guy in a Tommy Kaira zzii. I was on his tail the whole race. On the last lap i was getting very close to him, but on the very last corner he gave to much and spun right in the wall. He tried to crash me while he spun, but he missed. I was laughing all the way to the finishline:D

I have an RS6 Avant which is painted Matte Pink with Lime Green rims. I was drafting this guy in a Z06. As I overtook him just before the high speed left-hander after the Nordschleife back straight, he exclaimed over the mic "WHAT THE F@£$!?" and proceeded to blast into the grass because he was that distracted XD

5 lap race at Rome. I'm in my Integra Rm and there's this, how do I put it nicely, aggressive chap in a GTR, obviously this meant he was 1 million mph (even though it was a restricted pp room) and he had just about everyones paint job on his front bumper... except mine. I tailed him for the entire race then on the last corner he went into the wall abit and I floored it, shot past him and well you can figure the rest :D He went into a rage fit for about 10 minutes before the host said he'd run out of laughter and kicked him XD

Racing on the Nurburgring in a tight 3-4 car pack, and staying consistent enough to maintain the short distances between the cars to make it look like a train for the rest of the race.

Also, having that one rammer miss you because you decided to turn in just a little earlier or brake just a little later.

I was drafting someone on a straight and he ate the next corner, he wen't straight, didn't even try to brake or corner. After the race I asked him what happened, he answered "I didn't want you to get my slipstream". You can't be serious lol.

Racing in a V8 Series race, braking as two guys fly off (both series admin's if I remember) at the Fuji hairpin having got a monster slipstream from me

That exact same thing happened to me as well. Gedi and Johnboy both came to appreciate the run-off.

Running in a shuffle room doing 3-4 laps around different tracks. I got stuck with the Merc 300SL. Everyone else was in the Prelude/3000GTs and newer cars. Well on the last lap in Daytona Road Course I got into the draft going into the back straight. With a little tap from the guy I passed before the chicane I was able to get from 10th to 5th place and ended up taking 6th when a line of cars was drafting me. Everyone was having a good laugh at how this 1950s car just flew around the chicane like it was a X2010.

going into a VW bus room too late to get into the race, so i did the next best thing... gave the live play by play... they said it was the most intense race they ever ran, and laughed for the next 5 minutes

Enter drift room with friend.
Pull out tank cars.
Proceed to tandem drift.
Listen to all the laughter and, "wtf" comments.
Grin :D
Repeat

8/10 of my online experience, for me, fall into the category brilliant.

I really do enjoy online racing, so much more challenging and unpredictable than the AI. In fact I'm not quite sure why people have such trouble finding clean public lobbies. It simply astounds me how many posts are in the "worst you have dealt with online" thread compared to this thread and how worked up people get about what could have been a silly mistake. Sure there are malicious rammers but most of the contact I experience is people making genuine errors in judgement and to be honest I find it fairly easy to find a clean room.

I tend to mostly shuffle race though and most shuffle rooms (not labelled dirty) seem to be full of good racers/racing.

The below was a fun race, three of us broke from the pack and were pretty much feet apart for the rest of the race with some nice [forced error] overtakes both on the straight and through the bends.

I fluffed the final chicane but places didn't matter after a cracking race.

This one at Suzuka East was also great, I was racing with some great Aussies so there was a little bit of lag but we all managed to stay pretty clean regardless. Most of the race we were laughing out loud at the size of the bleedin' truck making it's way through the pack.

Mine would have to be the 500pp room I joined back in the Spring. We're doing 5 lap races around Rome and everyone is using 2-door sports cars. For no apparent reason, I decide to pull out my Dodge RAM and de-tune it down to the 500pp mark. I expected to pull away briefly off the line, and my hope was that my truck would be big enough to simply block everyone from passing me.

Course, little did I know that the thing would actually turn better than most of the cars I was racing against. How and why, I don't know, but it became absolutely hilarious to see this giant pick-up truck be more nimble than low-slung sports cars.

This was my best trolling moment.

I kept a Ferrari man from passing me. Everyone probably knows the power gap between these cars. It's a bit unfair. Although it was quite easy to read his movements so I call it a stalemate battle! The last straight was his cue to overtake me and so he did. He didn't quite make it to the finish line though

We were well into a NASCAR race at Daytona. We were behind the pack because another guy had purposely spun me out. I got my car together before the same guy did and pulled a lead ahead of him, so he cut the corner, literally missing me by a few millimetres before being slammed by the rest of the pack.

Burst out laughing.

I was hosting a match online in the "open" lobbies with my dad(he plays GT5 on his PS3 to:p I got him hooked) and we had been playing for a few hours and a lot of people were in the room(about 10), so we decided to squeeze in one more match, so I let everyone vote on the course they wanted and Deep Forest won(epic track) so I pulled out my Corvette Z06, and set the laps to 10, as sort of a grand finale:p All ten laps, I had a great clean battle with someone in a fully tuned Subaru, he would pass me, I would pass him back, and this went on forever, and then finally the last lap came, and me and him were on our into the final corner, he braked a bit early, so I tried to out brake him, and I ended up over shooting the corner and went onto the grass and he managed to take the win by just a hair, talk about an epic and funny match, all I could do was laugh.

Another match I was on the Nurburgring, again in a Corvette, this time my ZR1, two cars in front of me were battling for second place, coming into Wehrseifen, the two of them crashed into each other and spun, so right as they were spinning back around, they were blocking both sides of the track, so they only way to get past them was to go right inbetween them, while they were spinning! So I risked crashing as well and went for it, and I managed to make it through! after the race, they both typed, "dude that was awesome!"

This thread really should have more replies than the "Worst you've dealt with online" thread. I've had many more positive experiences online than negative ones. Lately I've gotten into shuffle racing which is really great fun.

Just today I've had more good races than I can count. In one of them, I received the Vectra on High Speed Ring and had an epic, CLEAN 5 car battle, where I won by 2 hundredths of a second and the 5th place car finished within a second of me.

Then not too long later I got a Mini Cooper S on Nurb GP/F, and had a 4 lap battle with some guy in one of those Delta hatchbacks. We were constantly swapping the lead for those 4 laps until we were side by side on the last chicane and both braked a little too late, and some guy in a Toyota that was about half a second behind us swooped past us both to take the win. I wasn't even mad because it was such a great race.

Drifting an EK9 Civic on the long circle curve in Cape ring when a Mustang SVT Cobra oversteers in front, causing me to pass him and leave him in shame. LOL

I finally manage to catch up with the guy who was in 1st place on the big straight on Nurburgring.
He tried to cut me off many times but I pulled out a ninja move and I passed him from the opposite way he was going to block. He spun out crashed and left the lounge.
I was laughing all the way to the finish line.

My most brilliant: My near win in Indianapolis with my green FTO Super Touring Car :) I ended up 4th, but it was the best race I've ever had online... BTW... I don't play online a lot...

My most hilarious one: Any shuffle race... :) They are extremely fun :D

I've had many a fun race in shuffle mode, there are too many ace moments that I can't really put any into writing.

Other races I've had:
Running in a 420PP room (I think it was anyway) most guys were running Spoon Civics/Integras (although the winner ran an RM Elise which was disallowed in the race). I was driving my trusty CR-X which was a bit down on power on the Civics and Integras in a straight line but much quicker in the corners. We had a 5-lap race at Rome, and on the final lap I found myself in 3rd tailing the 2nd-placed Civic down the back straight after I got a good run out of the hairpin. Didn't have enough speed to pass in a straight line but I moved to the extreme outside of the track before the narrow kink at the end of the straight. As the Civic braked and turned in, I carried on straight, lifted and turned in. I managed to run clean around the outside - without hitting the wall - into 2nd place. That was my most brilliant move I think. Unfortunately, the Civic driver, who had been clean and fair all race, punted me off at the final corner and I dropped to 5th. That was very unexpected. :grumpy:

Another one was a 500pp race at the Nordschleife which featured the usual smattering of NSX's, detuned 458s/Gallardos and so on. Being slightly strange, I of course promptly jumped into the Matte Pink '90 Nissan "Optiumus" Primera. (Has 360hp and weighs less than 1000kg) And beat the lot of them, which caused much hilarity when I was accused of cheating :sly:

A simple 3 lap race around Cape Ring Inside. Akmuq and Driftking had led the entire race with me tailing about a second behind, and at the final section of the final lap, they crashed... Needless to say, I won, and was amused big time :p

thank you very much for creating this thread.. I was very angry at the game about 30 minutes ago, but after reading every post in this thread, i had a big grin going and caused me to want to hit GT5 again

Raced online last night with a friend, he was extremely dirty in one race and I have no idea why, the room was restricted to 600PP and there were no tire restrictions, despite my protest.. anyways it was a 3 lap race of Tsukuba and I brought out my SLS, and he had his Jaguar XKR, his car had racing hard tires and mine had only sports softs(I refuse to use racing tires on street cars) any ways, much to my surprise I manage to get into the lead until turn two when he bumps me off into the sand, I had sports tires, so I didn't think I would be able to catch him because he had racing tires, but I managed to catch back up and stuck with him until the end of the race, when on the final lap he went to wide into the last corner and I floored the SLS hoping I could squeeze past him cleanly, unfortunately, the SLS, being an SLS, broke into a slide:p I managed to slide right in front of him without any contact and win the race by half a car length!
