Only Japanese cars are listed with S2 as most real tire in the manual, why?

In the in-game manual the cars and what tire represents the most realistic experience is listed, but strangely enough, all the cars that are listed with S1-S2 as the most realistic are from Japanese/Asian manufacturers. What's up with that?
 
Most of the cars in this game are road cars, and the manufacturers of the cars put on road tires accordingly(N's). My friends STi comes from the factory with competition tires(S's), Japanese manufacturers seem to put racing tires on their cars for some reason.
