only one word... INTENSE

First of all I like endurance races, that were the most intense and fun races for me in GT5. So I hoped for the same in GT6, but after I heard there are no real 24 hour long races in GT6 I was very depressed. Today was the day I unlocked the S-License races, so I gave the 24 minute races a try and what can I say more than the first race I finished has blown me away. Never in a racing game I have come across something intense like this - the 24 minutes of Nürburgring. I started the race in a SLS GT3 and after the first half lap I was 10th position and lost 1 second sector to sector to the leader so I thought drive this race home and try again next time with a better car. But suddenly it started to rain and so at the end of the first lap all drivers pitted except me. I stayed on my racing hard tires and was on the GP circuit toe to toe with the leader who came out of the pits. So going on the Nordschleife I was in the lead and the gap to the second McLaren GTR grow and grow to about 30 seconds at the end of the lap. But this second lap was scary as hell. I didn't see anything in the dark and with the rain and my car that was so hard to control that I thought I can't handle it through the second half of the lap. But I escaped this lap and with the start of the third lap the rain ended and my gap slowy grow but not by very much. But I thought me no problem drive it home easy but than I realised my fuel was very low and it was a handful to bring the car back home with not more than a bit of fuel in it. All in all that race was very intense and I won it with no pit stop. It was a great feeling, thank you PD!!!

You know, I found that racing hard tires actually perform better in the rain in this race than the actual rain tires do.

That is the same as GT5, however if you go to Arcade or OnLine mode and switch the grip to Real you will find racing tires are much more effective on wet tracks. The game events do not use the Real setting for grip level.

I had a pretty good go on that one too. Rain was about 50 at the end of lap one so we all stopped and I stuck on the full wets. At the end of lap 2 it looked a bit done so I stuck on the racing hard again but one car stayed out on the rain tires and I spent the last lap reeling him in. Was good fun.

They really do need to adjust the tires in the rain. The wets are quite a bit worse feeling than the racing ones.

Yeah, I suppose they don't. Even so, slicks should not be better than rain tires in the rain! I'd have thought they would fix that with the new tire model.

Hoping you said that wrong. Real grip makes slicks better in rain?

Beautiful! I did that race a few times with different cars upgraded and stock. I also enjoyed the challenge of the 10 laps of Suzuka race. With a stock gt500 car it's very challenging.

In GT5, with the "Real" setting, and depending on the exact compound, the slicks were worst, followed by sports, then comforts, then the race wet tyres (in the wet, obviously).

With grip reduction set to "Low", the grip is only determined by compound - racing softs are always best.

I expect GT6 is the same.

I don't know if I can agree with saying Racing Softs are the best in the rain because from my experience the racing intermediates work much more effectively from 30% and on up. With softs in this race I always found myself drifting and sliding under braking.

Yeah, and then you do the '10 Laps Of Silverstone', hoping for some rain to help you catch these McLaren´s ... But the weather remains un-britishly brilliant :irked:

But I´ll find a way sometime, anyways it´s nice to be challenged!

My Audi R18 made the Mclaren's rage quit.

How did you do 3 laps with the sls without stopping for fuel?

Maybe because half of the race was wet and I had to be gently on the throttle. My second lap was just a bit under 10 minutes because the track was 100% wet, so I think I saved the fuel on this lap. But it was very close to end to ran out of fuel.

I also drove the 10 laps of Silverstone, a very challenging race. I drove with the Deltawing (a great car to drive, so much fun and you can threw it into the corners). With the Deltawing I don't need to pit so I thought I can win this race but the McLaren beat me by just 5 seconds. Next time i will drive this race on racing softs and the McLaren should be a piece of cake to beat, hopefully.

So far I tried the Z4 GT3 and SLS GT3, with the Z4 I managed to come as close as 14 sec. to the leading McL by lap 9... and didn´t even finish not because I gave up on the win, but because the RS compound was worn out 0/3 in the front and 3/1 in the back, making it almost impossible to keep a straight line, not to mention turns.

I think if you are really carefull with the tires and fuel while at the same time consistent lap times around 1:54. ..., it should be possible to win Silverstone 10 laps with a GT3 car.

That Fina McLaren is very quick on Silverstone. He runs RS tires and gets up the road pretty well. The other McLaren is not to difficult and is running RM tires.

I ran this race 4 times before I won it and when I won it the Fina McLaren was not in the line up. I pitted twice and still won by 18 seconds but given that the Fina was winning by 30 seconds over the car I beat I think i would have came up short again had it been out there.

The closest I came with the Fina on the track was I managed to catch him and pass as we were lapping traffic on the last lap. Once we got past the lapped cars he was all over my Ford GT and I was doing everything I could to make sure he did not get inside me in the corners or get a run on me, came down tho the last corner where I knew I had him so long as I stayed inside but I failed to notice how worn my rear tires were and maybe a bit due to the pressure of this F1 on my tail I applied to much throttle and by the time I managed to gather it back up he had gone past me for the win.

Was a very interesting race and one that I will be trying a few more times

For the Silverstone race (and every other Super 650PP race) I used the HSV-010, no adjustments. Racing hards, pit halfway through, won by ~9 seconds. The wear on the car is low enough that you could use mediums if you wanted.

The 24 minutes of Le Mans are great, too. I used the Bentley EXP Speed 8 and I thought that it's gonna be a straight forward race, but no. In the first lap I got up to 7th or so, in lap two to 3rd. All the way through the lap I came pretty close to the first two cars (Peugeot 905, Audi R8), but then it started to rain and I directly made a mistake at one of the chicanes. In the Porsche corners I catched up to them, and then I saw that my tyres (still racing soft) are down. So the others and me went to the pits, and I got up to second place. I made a mistake again, this time at the first corner after the long straight and I was third again. I tried to catch up, and right before the last chicane I had the chance but I had the a bad corner exit and I got third.

That was the best race I had in a Gran Turismo game! ;)
