yeah, i am facinated by it all, and i enjoy finding out about local history...my sister is the same, we keep saying we are going to go and look at all the local archives - but have never got around to doing it - it's a bit hard now i live with slip in London!!

There's always a background to ghost stories. You rarely have much of that in UFO stories.

I've only heard one "real" paranormal myth about a church about a mile or two from my house. The Aquia Episcopal Church was built in the late 1600s. It's still around and it's protected because it's considered a historical site. The graves there are really interesting as they date from the late 1600s to the present. Quite a few historical studies were done there about the art on head stones and how they changed over time. Anyways, the myth is that the place is haunted by some lady that was killed there. She came down from Alexandria in the mid 1700s and was killed in the church. They say that the floor boards were stained with her blood and her skin was hung on the walls. Ever since then the church was supposedly haunted.

A few years after Washington's death, a couple kids went there to see if there really was a ghost. One of the kids dared the other to hammer a nail in the bell tower (where the ghost is supposed to live). The friend doesn't come back and the other kid decides to check on him. They found the boy's coat nailed to the wall and the kid that had gone up there was found dead.

During the civil war a few confederate soldiers stayed there. They didn't know that quite a few union soldiers were heading down there to tear the place apart. The ghost of the lady scared them out and ended up saving their lives.

I've been to the place quite a few times and there is no denying that it's spooky. I don't think there is a ghost there but it does have a very interesting history.

I do not believe in ghosts, as cool as it would be. But then I've never had any of those freaky experiences that believers have had.

More I've never heard of. Still good though. Who are suspects, if any, in the killing of the woman in the church?

There was supposed to some "crazed" maniac going around and killing people for a sometime in our area. I'm sure that's bs though. All the deaths, however, are real and are on record.

Indeed. I think there are similar areas. Apparently, there may be a vortex in a forest in one of the northern states where people are dissapearing.

I've also heard of the Mary Celeste, though I'm not sure if there's a ghost connected with it.

Sheffield (UK) has several old buildings in the city that are supposed to be haunted by Mary Queen of Scots. From 1570 - 1584 she was held in Sheffield; and is said to be seen still at: the Manor Lodge, Queens Tower, Sheffield Castle and Lees Hall. There is said to be underground tunnels linking many of these places that she still wanders through.

This is just one of many ghosts, sheffield has quite alot of supposed haunted places.

Indeed it does. We have the most haunted pub in Britain, apparently (just opposite Meadowhall Retail Park).

neon mentioned something about "Norwich University". This can't be in the UK because Norwich University doesn't have a Northfield hall, and in fact isn't, and never has been, called "Norwich University". I guess there's a Norwich in the US?

|<atana - you mean the Bermuda Triangle, not the Mary Celeste? Volcanic activity is thought to be responsible for the effects of the Bermuda Triangle - the ocean there is saturated with carbon dioxide, which lowers the density of the water, causing ships to sink. It's also thought that a higher concentration of carbon dioxide in the air causes sudden turbulence which could cause planes to crash.

Pluckley, Kent, is the most haunted village in the world, with 13 ghosts (including the obligatory Lady In A Red Dress and White Lady).

It's a military academy in Vermont. Or it appears to be.

Introducing Norwich University
Military School and Traditional College
Norwich University is the oldest private military college in the United States. Students who enroll in the Corps of Cadets follow a disciplined military regimen, while civilian students lead a more traditional collegiate lifestyle. Both groups reside on the Northfield campus, attending classes and participating together in sports and other activities.

Has anyone ever herd about goodleburg cemitary, its a old abortion home in western NY, its supposed to be one of the most haunted places in the US. first time i went to it was at a party and i was drunk and then they start tellin all these storys. my friend who lives on the road said he has herd weird things and stuff. i only like about 5 mins away.

I don't know if this is paranormal or just a retarded CD player, but here goes.

On friday night I was sleeping, as you do then I woke up just as my CD i was listening to before I went to sleep was finishing, I went to turn the CD back on, but it didn't work so I tried a few more times(about 100!). After about 3 minutes I gave up and went back to bed, then about 20 seconds later the CD player started making weird noises and then on the CD player I heard a womans voice say "ski"(I wasn't quite sure if it was the CD player or a voice from somewhere in my room) I was scared ****less! I couldn't sleep for another hour. My dads house is pretty old, I think it was built during the 60's and its in an industrial area that has lots of old buildings and houses. I also have heard other noises in my bed room, but I never really took notice of them. Oh yeah, after I heard the voice, my step brother started making weird noises in his sleep.

Do the big eyes flying in the sky watching every move I make count? I mean, they've been following my every move since I was born maaaan.
