OK....in both series I have taken the appropriate car and modded them to thier fullest (and as a last result even installed nitrous onto both cars)....yet I still cannot, for the life of me, beat these races. In each one the entire pack pulls away from me. ANyone have hints/tips so as to win these races??

I thought I was a pretty damned good driver in regards to this game, but these races are making me think twice....any help fellas?

I've noticed this too - Another thing that annoys me is that the picture when you select the race is bloody misleading, i entered a race(Cant remember which one), to make some quick money as it had a VW Polo as the header pic, but when i actually entered the race it had things such as M3s, SLRs and SL500 etc...

Well, have won the Opel Speedster Race already. Wasn't that hard. If you have fully tuned your car and if you have Racing Medium tyres. Then you should be able to win quite easily. I won the series with a Opel Speedster Turbo, but the normal Speedster seems to be better. Dunno about that, haven't tried it with the normal Speedster. But the normal has less weight and so it's said to be better than the Turbo.

Beetle Cup will be next up for me.:) Will buy a Beetle RSI for that one.:)

I know what you mean on the Speedstercup, but use racetyre/soft or racetyre/qualify and with a low gearratio, then just drive like a god 👍 .That´s what i did.Beetlecup whas easy just raced the Beetle RSI mildly tuned it should work out. :)

I won the Speedster Cup with a fully tuned Speedster Turbo as well. It's not that hard if your car is tuned to the max and set up properly. I've heard of the Beetle Cup too, and I guess the best choice is to max out an RSi.

Cheers,
the Interceptor

I just win that series 15 minutes ago, the hardest was the Infineon Raceway (I hate it) I race with soff race tires, ASM 1 TCS 2, Wings to the minimum resistance and that´s it I think and I am a average racer, on my license a I got 1 Gold, / Silver 7 and 72 Bronze.

By the way, Off Topic, what rally car do i need to beat the special condition hard to get the Scudo Pikes?

you will need the toyota rally car that you won on the second race on easy

Alright...thanks guys. I never even looked into buying the non turbo speedster. I'll look into that as well as playing around with the settings a bit and see what I come up with.

Well, why doing so difficult with a Beetle RSI? I just bought me a Beetle Cup Car, tuned it a bit and won very easily. Although my Beetle Cup Car wasn't very good in cornering... I did the same with the Lupo Cup, just bought a Lupo GTI Cup Car and won that series as well.

For winning the Scudo Pikes: Did it with my Subaru Impreza Rally Car Prototype '01. Have won all rally's so far with that car.:)

I won the speedster races no problem. All 200 a-spec and all first try except for one. I upgraded the turbo to the max and didn't even do any additional fine tuning. On the second race I even drove off the track and had to play catch up to win. I was expecting them to be much harder than they were.

On the flip side the VW Beetle races were a pain in the butt for me!? The races were all 9 a-spec points and I struggled with every one. Used the RSI not fully upgraded.

hmm...seems like the beetle RSI would be a better car to use than the cup car. im havin a hard tim with it as well.

If the rest of the field pulls right away, check your gear ratio (and adjust it accordingly) and set the nitro to 75% of the maximum power and use it right away after the start.
Good Luck 👍

I maxed out the Speedster turbo all but wing or nitrous, it was a good race from the rear but still finished well ahead of the pack. Give the back a little positive toe, a little extra camber to help with the corner entry oversteer. My typical LSD settings of 20/40/15 work good but induce some of the corner entry oversteer.
The RSI has the power but is heavy, so I did stage 2 weight reduction, all drivetrain including VCD and reduced power to the front tires. Also installed medium racing slicks. It was a slaughter, I plan on going back with a little less car for more competition.

ah, I will buy a RSI and tune it to the max. I dont care if it will be a slaughter. in fact, im happy to hear that it will be a slaughter, I could'nt care les about new beetles. I hate that race. the fastest it finishes and they give me my cool bug, the better.

Ok, first-hand experience, coming through...I'm was at around 82ish percent complete, didn't have time to do enduros, not good enough at M34 yet, forgot about Special Conditions, so I decided to clean up the one-make races. When I come to the Beetle Cup, I decide to use the RSI. It was an easy win with slight upgrades in GT3, so it should win no problem. WRONG. I bought the highest available turbo, all the weight reducers, and racing mediums. AND I WAS STILL GETTING BLASTED! These guys had obviously added some horsepower.

So I reset to get all the money back from the mods I bought, buy a Red Beetle Cup Car, get R3's and a stage 2 turbo, and reenter. The result was an easy sweep. Moral of the story: Get the Cup Car. Almost half the price and requires half the cash for mods.

I did the Beetle cup races with a Black Beetle cup car, changed the tires from racing super hards to racing hards and did an oil change.
Make sure you qualify in first place. Won the championship with 5 wins. around 90 points per race.
Is it just me or do others think that the AI drive better when you are offered between 1 to 10 points?

For the speedster, it really doesn't matter which you choose. Max it. If you drop the racing suspension to it's lowest, you get more stability & less lean on corners. Also, spread the gearing out about three or four to the right of where it is (racing tranny). You'll get a higher straight away speed. Worried about starts?? That's what the nitro is for. You can use it factory set when you pull out of a corner or from a dead stop like a supercharger... with the gearing spread a little wider, you won't need it on the straights. But racing tires are a MUST!

As for the beetle, I agree. Cup car is best option for the money. Change the tires to racing medium or even soft. And the custom diff is useful. You can set the initial torque a little higher and the accel higher to stop wheel spin and give more traction pulling out of corners, lower decel and adjust brake controller to make ANY FF turn on a dime.

We all have different experiences.

Speedster Turbo, maxed, wings with max downforce, nitro, long gears. Race hard. Easy win. For me the nitro was the difference.

Beetle - tried Cup Car (fully maxed) and could not get it. Tried RSI (fully maxed) - max drive to rear wheels - creamed the field.

Tune to max (everything including wing and oil). Use NOS at the start and when exiting corners (when your PAST the apex). Racing tires (R2 or R3)
Try these settings:

Max downforce

Spring 8.0/12.6
Height 85/87
Bound 3/4
Rebound 9/10
Camber 2.0/1.0
Toe 0/0
Stab 2/6
Brakes 2/12

Transmission auto setting 15

LSD---
Initial 10
Accel. 45
Decel. 20

NO ASM, TCS

after i maxed out a speedster turbo, (R2 tires, i always choose these racing tires), i was still having a bit of trouble. changed to R4, and all races were a breeze. dunno about R3, but it should be do-able.

only thing, it dropped the a-spec points from 165 to 124. R3 would probably get 145, and still be good enough for the win.

and yes, R4 tires lasted all races, never getting past yellow.

all races done with no nitrous, and starting in 6th place. (wouldnt have it any other way)

didnt even try that myself after looking at this thread, but probably impossible. the speedsters you race against seem to be as fast as your speedster with the higher stage turbos. you might just loose out of sheer lack of speed.

ok, so not knowing too much about this... is it posible that when you mod your speedster the ps2 mods the ai to keep up?

nope. considering that only the speedster and beetle races seem to have been picked out as being harder then the average race, i very much doubt it. but maybe tomarrow ill see. why not check yourself though?

With a wing on the Speedster those other cars don't stand a chance. Infineon has always been the easiest track to win on. I like those hillclimb parts and fly past the opposition.

I don't remember doing much to win the Opel Series, but I did fully max out everything. They never even got close. I think the trick is in gearing to get brisk acceleration and pull away from every corner at near redline.
