Was sitting here thinking about how my Dad and I used to take the open wheel cars from GT3 and race around the short oval, not sure whether it was the Motegi oval or not.

Anyways it got me thinking, I would love to see the old open wheel cars from GT3 to make another appearance in GT6. I think there were 3 different open wheel cars.

Sure, as long as they are remodeled to premium quality, with better sounds etc... though I still don't get why those didn't appear in GT5.

I'd really like to see them return, but updated to Premium. I'd also like to see some more F1 classic car knockoffs, perhaps from earlier periods.

I wouldn't want them back. The thought of wheel axles staying put after ramming into them turned me off open wheel cars in GT.

Do you mean that if the cars hit each other's wheels going side by side in a corner, that there is no wheel jumping and no major drama?

I don't remember those cars, and I don't drive X1s or FGT.

I wanted to see them snap. It looks cool seeing them snap and let the tires fly.

There's always the chance of PD shocking us and fixing that.

I'm all for it, especially as I've never tried the NTSC-only ones. I actually wouldn't care if they're standard or premium as F1's don't have any of the premium features anyway (when was the last time an F1 had windscreen wipers or headlights?). Cockpit view and damage should do the trick.

That's damage modeling. It would be cool if full damage were on.

My question is, do GT's open wheel cars bounce off of each other like real open wheel cars?
Or is it like banging a couple of sedans into one another?

The latter. Even the F1 Ferraris, with their unguarded, premier wheels won't barrell roll at the most bone-crunching tackle.

I'm all in for old open wheelers, the best would be to see atleast a few of them from each era, say from 60's to 90's and why not even older if they could make!

Why?
So kids can put racing soft tyres on them? :)

This is the problem with "historic" and "classic" cars in gt. They should have different tyre choices, historic road and race tyres. Not that that would go down well.
"I paid 15 mill for a Vanwall and it won't turn!!!!".

Still, they probably wouldn't make the suspension as soft as it should be either.

Why? Well i've driven the GP37 mod in rfactor and it's a downright blast.
And i don't really care what kids are doing to their cars, it's their loss.

But i kinda agree and i know they probably can't make them authentic enough but you can never know... or maybe i'm having my hopes too high. :D

It's pretty well known the damage and collision modelling in GT5 is sub-par. Hopefully it's fixed in GT6, but even if it's not it shouldn't deter the cars from making an appearance.

Why wouldn't you want them back? Who doesn't want to drive what are essentially Senna's F1 cars? There was nothing more amazing than blasting around Monaco in those cars back in GT3.

It would really be a big plus for GT to get these back, those really were special cars. Having races between them all was amazing..

Have never driven GT3, but to have more than one open wheelers in the game would be great!

How about real ones, too:
- Ariel Atom
- Ford FF (is this correct?)
- Lotus T125
- ...

Most people that put Racing Softs on everything wouldn't use those cars much, anyway. Certainly not stuff like Vanwalls and Maserati 250Fs.

It would be awesome if PD made a fictional 50's beercan car for the few that would use it online, with proper tires and all. One time I did a few races with friends, with fully tuned Caterham 7s on Sports Hards (although Comfort Hards or Mediums are probably more realistic ), but it's just not quite the same... There's not enough torque, and the Caterham sounds awful fully tuned. Still loads of fun though, especially Monza without the first chicane. :sly:

I like the idea of having historic tires as an option though.

Also, why not make one fictional GP car from each era going back to the 1920s?
