Opening executables...without running them normally? (Possible??)

I am wondering if there is another way to run an executable besides just doing the auto-left click run? (This particular executable has a file inside of it I need to extract. Running the executable normally will not work when I am trying to extract the file I need)

You are looking for an executable decompiler, not another way to run an executable.

just something that i can extract a file out of an executable without having to actually run the executable file...where may i find this decompiler?
