My What?
I Was hosting an online race tonight, street cars only(tuners and concepts allowed though) so I pulled out my Opera Performance S2000 and won. Afterwards many people told me it was a race car, I always considered it street legal as I know Kaz raced the exact same car in the 25 hours of Thunderhill, but I swear I read somewhere that it's also one of his personal cars and is in fact street legal. GT5 considers it a "normal" car as it allows me to enter it into the lasted 500PP seasonals(which don't allow tuners or race cars) and it comes with Sports Hard stock, not the Racing Hards you would expect if it was a race car. I did my research and only found an article on the car in Modified Magazine, but it contained nothing about if the car was street legal or not. What do you guys think?

I believe it to be street legal.

In any pp room I have been in having a race car isn't always an advantage anyway.

It IS street legal. No doubt at all.
Yes.
its a race car

Give proof.

I believe the Opera S2000 to be a sort of track day car that could be modified in a way to be racing-level competitive. It has potential, but has been left out for reason of street legality.

Also another S2000 Example: Amuse has the S2000 GT1, R1, and Street Version (of the R1)

I tried it in the 500pp seasonals and was denied as it's not a "Normal car". Seems like a race car to me!

because it is a tuned car, but tuned car is not necessarily a racing car and it can be road legal

really? then i should tell that to my neighbour who drives it to work every day..

Your neighbour drives the Opera S2000 to work every day? POIDH.

Incidentally, everyone is right - except anyone who's said it's not something. It just so happens that, just like the Schulze Motorsports N24 GT-R*, this car was created by a tuner race team (thus tuner) for a specific race in which it competed (thus race car) but it's still road legal as the race is for road legal cars (thus road legal).

It's a street legal, tuner race car.

*Or any of the rally cars - they have to be road legal to be driven on the public roads between stages!

If you are the room host then who cares what the other racers said? Kick 'em!

But, I do wish for a racing regulation that only allows Normal cars in online lobbies like the Seasonal races have.

the Opera is street legal in japan, probably not in my country tho. Japan seems to be kinda cool with street car rules. I mean the Amuse S2k is street legal too in japan if I aint mistaken. For me it's a race car, as are most of the tuned car in japan, specialy those made for time attack.

Some people need to realize that you can have a race car that competes in sanctioned races that is also street legal. Seat Belts, Headlights, Tail Lights... that's almost all it takes. If an Ariel Atom can be made street legal, almost anyting can.

I'll also say that if it has a roll cage, it's a race car. But, race cars CAN be street legal.

Exactly!!! As long as the car meets the states or countries guidelines for a street legal car, anything goes for the car. I know for my state, roll cages are not allowed, but I can do nearly anything else.

Street legal: Yes

The problem most people have is the front downforce adjustability - because when it comes down to it, that is what people don't like about the 'race' cars; the massive grip you pick-up vs. regular 'street cars'

is it street legal? maybe some places. from what i understand, it's basically a completely gutted car with a milk crate as a seat. (ok, i am stretching the last bit)

does it belong in a 'street car only' room? no. the distinction seems to be cars with front downforce <> street cars

ok my bad, not opera's S2000
but modified S2000..
i know it got more then 400 HP.

hahahahahahahahaha

My neighbour drives a Ferrari 458 to work every day.
Except it's actually just a Fiat Punto :-/

And I believe the tyres that a car comes with stock is a large giveaway to whether or not it's street legal, so...

Edit: I do not accept the argument that downforce = not street legal, it's the worst argument I've ever heard.

When did downforce make a car a race car, then a street car? If a Subaru has a wing that gives downforce, then its a race car, but sold as a street car? It makes so little sense. Famine has given the best answer to this.

Amuse is borderline - crazy, crazy fast car - but Opera? I personally wouldn't consider it a race car, close to a racemod though - would be the hosts call though; if he/she says don't run it, I don't run it.

Many times, the host's judgement is usually if they think they can beat it, rather than the fair judgement of "street legal". For example: A non "race car" host considers the Trial Celica to be a 'racing car', but not the Spoon CR-Z. I had previously beaten them in the race they set, then immediately claimed that it was a race car.

Never trust the host for deciding rules not adjustable in-game (unless they're GTP members, I always trust them 'gullibly':dunce: )

However, they really need a "Non-Race Cars" setting to go along with the rest (Modern Rally Cars, NASCAR, LMP, ect.). It seems the only thing that is missing from that set, and also a very obvious addition. Especially so since they have it included in Seasonal Events.

Roll Cage = Race Car. Race Cars can be Street Legal.

IMO, you people who are running these rooms need to have the title "Roll Cage Cars Only" or "Non-Roll Cage Cars Only".

Look, a wrangler with a roll cage... racing in Baja.

Roll Cage = Racing Vehicle
