I collect them because they were rare in 5, but I rarely use them. Only to replicate cars I've seen in real life, like this GT-R.

I painted my black edition in matte black, I'll upload a picture of it later.
Edit: If I can ever take a good one :p. Going to try today.
Plus, I wanted to make a poll .

It's usually for replicas. Sometimes though, I just want a matte car.

I'm kind of in that boat, as the OP says, I use them to replicate cars I see.

The only one I ever use is the matte black. And that one I use excessively.
Black and Red. Wish I had the blue one from the seasonals :(. A matte blue Lambo...

Back when I was younger, I played Midnight Club 3 ALL the time, I painted all my cars matte. Matte orange, matte silver, matte white, but my all-time favorite was matte black. But I'm not so crazy about it anymore:P I got matte black just to color rims, because some cars look real nice with matte-black rims.

Some cars look incredible in just the right light when they have a matte finish, particularly the darker ones such as Marrone Apus, Nero Nemesis and Matte Dark Red.

I use Nero Nemesis nearly religiously. I grind Nurburgring, and every paintable car that's won there now has that paint job. Once in a GREAT while a car just won't "look right", and it gets matte grey or dark grey.

That's another reason I paint them matte. If I want to replicate that "Illegal street racer" look from Need for Speed or Midnight Club.

But in the wrong light.... C7 in matte black can look purple sometimes.

Nero Nemesis is my favorite matte black, I also use it if no other color looks right (cause what doesn't look good in black?)

Where is the Nero Nemesis paint chip from? I use the LFA matte black.

I've always thought the darker matte reds look like frosty wine bottles, beautiful!

after the epic thread ongoing about aerodynamics and flat plates with / without diffusers - I say matte paint replicates parallel work the USN has performed on rough texture surfaces producing a micro layer of transitional turbulent fluid flow (air) over the car (submarine) which in fact makes the vehicle faster.

(("Whaddiya mean this is a game?"))

Does it really affect the speed in game, though? That'd be pretty neat lol.

I don't know about water, but I do know that matte paint finishes reduce speed through air by increasing drag - it probably doesn't have any effect on cars, but it was found to reduce the speed of aircraft in world war two. This was discovered when they used matte paint on night fighters.

What about racing stripes then? You should be able to offset the negative effect of matte paint with go-faster-stripes.

It looks great on some cars and not so great (horrible) on others. I have my Range Rover Evoque done in matte black with the glossier black trim and glossy black wheels... It looks awesome!

In real-life it's a P.I.T.A., as even rubbing up against it can buff it enough to make that spot look shiny. And once that happens, there's usually nothing that can be done about it.

Any wheels that are black, are matte black. I've a couple of missiles in matte black, and a 800bhp nutter R33, but that's about it.

I like matte reds and yellows aswell.

I don't know how many have picked up on this yet....but if you buy the Black Edition w/Bird '78 Trans Am, the pinstriping will be retained with a repaint, albeit in white (as will the super-chicken decals) and the specially-painted headlamp buckets will revert to normal. Much better, detailed look for the matte paintjob, IMO, but equally appreciable in colour.
