i have been in several threads descusing 4wd drifting. some are aginst it and some are for it. i personaly started drifting FR's. then i shifted to MR's then to 4wd drifting i personaly favor all wheel drive drifting but i can do fr and mr drifting. who elce here drifts in 4wd, and what is your stand point on all of this?

So you are actually starting a thread to continue closed thread discussions?

Really; i can give you the outcome of this whole thread.

- first there will be people who kindly reply
- then there will be people who shout that AWD is not drifting; its sliding!
- then there will a hundred post with rubbisch statements for both sides of the discussion
- then there will be mods.

Sorry if i dont reply to you OP.

For in-race drifting as a way to clear a corner, I prefer mid-ships. For trials, such as the seasonal events, I prefer FR. I don't discount the excitement or skill needed for adequate 4WD drifit, its just not my Cup o tea.

thank you for being the first person not to totaly yell at me on this web site i appersiate your post

A small reminder. If anyone goes against this post will be reported. As for my opinion on it, its fun. I do not see anything bad about it and we use to do it all the time in GT3/4.

So true. Before the days of D1GP, FD etc. drivetrain swaps were pretty much unthinkable therefore you drifted what you had. It's definitely a wilder ride with more speed, snappier steering and crazy angle if you're good enough.

With the improvements in physics and other features in racing games these days I have completely switched to rear wheel drive for the fact that I think it looks so much more exciting and scary knowing you only have two powered wheels to get round corners but from GT1 to GT4 I loved whipping out a GTR and blazing through Tsukuba and Fuji.

As long as the wheels are spinning and spoke is churning I don't care what drivetrain we all use. Its a game and its for fun and entertainment. So why do people get mad at an arragement of pixels? I do not know.

I dont have anything against AWD drifting whatsoever, but my stand on it is that they shouldnt be mixed. As in, a RWD lobby should stay that way, just so everyone has an oppurtunity for clean tandems. If people wanted to use AWD, a "mixed" lobby would probably be best.

Like I said, I have nothing against AWD, I personally love cruising the little suckers, but after drifting FR for so long, everything else just feels like catastrophic understeer. ;)

I have nothing against 4WD drifting. When I'm drifting in lobbies and someone in, lets say, a WRX STI comes in, I just let them be.

Every room i enter they always have atleast 1 person with a AWD car. People make fun of him/her for using a car with "training wheels" they say. But i dont mind it. Gives me something to practice with and get my skills just that more perfect.

i have seen you be for you are a leader of a drift team. in your team discription it said your team dislikes the use of 4wd and you wont take 4wd drifting members. i thought you would be aginst this topic when i saw who you were.

Yes but those were not my lobbies i had no say so. But In my lobbies i prefer RWD only because they are Easier to maintain a tandem with.

Maybe he dislikes it in a competitive situation like most teams?

Yes but i am actually thinking about changing that rule. Because if i am wanting my lobbies and competitions to be more real. In Formula d and D1 they Use all drivetrains. Such as 4WD, AWD, RWD, FWD so why not right.

you know if you change that i would love to join your team but i must tell you im rearly on PSN

For all haters of AWD I have one name... Ken Block.

Yes he maybe annoying, yes he may drive a fiesta but damn I have never seen such precision driving since Colin Mcrae. Yes he may suck at rally but on tarmac and in Gymkhana you have too say he is awesome and dayumm that's cool.

i love that guy he his the face of 4wd drifting!

I drift shopping carts on supermarket, so what?

Doing this is more fun than watching Ken Block do Gymkhana.

I intentionally kick the rear wheels out if the cart's carry a lot of stuff so I can corner faster.

I'm pretty sure all D1 and FD cars have to be RWD. Some of the cars have been converted from being AWD, like some of the Team Orange cars, but Im almost positive they all have to be RWD.

There might be some other little league that allows FF or AWD but the big boys stick with RWD.

Im am really thinking about doing it. But there is a problem with you not being on. I want my members to make sure they have a 90% attendance rate. Unless its due to common issues (children need attending too, family events etc.)

I love Ken Block, i have a few shirts and looking into getting some shoes and a hat to match the set.

If FD they so have subarus and they do what we do and transfer 90% of the power to the rear wheels. And as for FWD Here is a video of a D1 EF civic.

He used to be my hero, then he went and bought a Ford ...

I have no problem with 4wd drifting, just not my cup of tea, I'm sure I share this opinion with a good few people in a good few drift teams on here.

What I do hate is people bashing me out the way constantly online, 95% of these people are in 4wd cars. That's where my pure hatred towards them stems from.

But if your not going to be stupid and forget you have brakes, then I got no problem with it.

Not sure I worded that correctly, you get the idea.

The classic drifting and the drifting competitions should keep RWD only.
4WD cars are totally different to drift, it doesn't work when you want to drift tandem with another RWD car.
4WD cars are alot of fun to drift! No doubt, the insane angle at entries and the speed is fascinating. I'm talking about cars with a powerdistribution of 40/60 or 50/50 because the fact that some people do the 10/90 thing and claim it's the same like RWD is annoying. This is the only thing that's getting on my nerves. It's like a traction control for drifting!
4WD drifting isn't fail, it's fun but everybody who's drifting 4WD cars should respect that the real purustic drifting is done with RWD cars and they should swap their car or leave the lobby when theres no 4WD allowed.
Drifting real 4WD's (around 45/55) aren't that easy to handle, it's still a a challenge. But if you do it please stay away with the 10/90 stuff.

That's my opinion, accept it or not. I don't care.
