Ok guys, just wondering what you consider to be the optimum HP for a fun car....

For me it is about 300 hp. Any less and the car struggles too nuch on the hills, any more and you loose the skill in corners opting for the point and shoot. I find a car with about 300 hp and a loose(ish) rear end is pretty good fun, paticularly if it is RWD :)

300hp is optimal for a FWD car, you really don't want any more than that, and some FWD cars can't handle that much.

Depending on the car, I'd say 500 hp or so for AWD and RWD.

1000hp Skylines, Supras, and the like are for people who can't drive anyway, so they don't even notice how horribly they handle.

I like to have around 450hp for anything AWD or FR,MR. I dont like FF and I dont waste any money upgrading them because they will never be able to do anything spectacular.

neon_duke...thats your own opinion...i been playing all the gt games(but GTC) and I've loved the skylines...they are a great car if you know how to tune them and run them around the track....thats not for people who can't drive....this is a car for some who wants a challenge in there driving ablities.

Many excellent cars in gt3 are 276 hp and reach about 300 after the oil change: NSX, RX-7, Skylines, Evo's, Supra, etc.
i also think that they're about the most fun to drive, specially for pleasure driving and great for drifting too!

Yeah thats about it for me too, and the car is vanquish.

You don't know how to setup these cars. in fact, maybe you don't even know what the brake is there for.
In GT3, I drive a 1051hp R34 on the Cote d'azur without any understeering problem like many whines about. Mistral 78 laps enduro was exciting on that car.

FF-200-250(a rare few can handle more)
FR-350-550
MR-500-625
AWD-500-650

I dont like to have much more hp than that, on each type of car, anything more and the car is off balance, unless the car has crazy downforce and can handle extremely well to match the HP.

I am an addict to perfection and do to that fact the "fun hp's" depend on the type of car I am driving. A car that I would probably spend the rest of my life with and never ask for another, which is impossible, should be FR and about 500-550 hp.

A yellow Skyline R34 with white yokohama rims.

Racing suspension.

A little over 350 horsepower.

God!!

 hehe... but meme what is your ideal horsepower??

MR/AWD = 550 hp, thats myn :D

CAMAROS!! HELL YEAH!! after my years with the Gran Turismo series, i've developed my own racing technique which has thus far proven quite successful to me. I rely heavily on torque-steering and drifting the car.. the emergency brake was badly designed in the game, so my secret lies within the TCS. Mind you guys, I'm screwed on the races with tire damage on--thus, i adjust back to GT3 standards, using the slow in fast out technique, but i've come to notice that Camaro's handle EXCEPTIONALLY well for my driving style. following them is the BMW, and soon after are the more popular Japanese cars and other american power cars. the Camaro SS with 600 HP would probably sit upwards of my favorite car just for the fun of driving it... my favorite car to rape the competition with would be my RX7 LM. :)

for unexperienced GT'ers...

when i say slow-in-fast-out, i mean the 'brake straight and accelerate through the turn'... y'all get my drift. to execute my turning technique, drop the TCS to 2 or 1... zero works too but allows for way too much tire spin (useful in learning how to control the car). try to avoid using the curbs on the insides of the turns as they whip you around too fast, but cutting in without braking as much, then accelerating as hard as you can while you turn will over-spin the tires and torque-steer your car.. the trick is controlling that steering and not having to countersteer at the end of the turn. makes for QUICK turns and high exit speeds in a lot of cases, and allows me to destroy my friends in 2P mode :)

So basically speedfreek you turn into the turn and let go of the steering wheel and adjust your acceleration and brakes to turn the car. doesn't that sound like drift racing? Anyways I have to say that ideally speaking, personally I enjoy a FF car with anything from 270 to 300 at most. The FR & MR can be anywhere from a range of 450 to 650 depending on the weight and steering ability with the car. With a AWD gotta be in the 500 range somewhere. For Torque steering aka drifting, I enjoy the ZZII with I think somewhere around 990 hp, it works the greaest on those 180 degree turns.

I think 787b Raybrig NSX and Zexel/Loctite Skyline GT-R, all stock of course, are the most of fun.

As for FF cars, slightly souped up spoon civic type-R is the best.. I don't think any car in GT3 has 16K redline....

Also Subaru's 22B is fun to drive when it has around 350 - 400 HP, its probably one of the most versitile cars in GT3, because its pretty good on Track and you can pretty much school everyone with it in Rally Mode. :-)

well, i think that FR and MR cars should have 300 to 600 hp. it always depend on how heavy the car is and what track you are racing at! I don't use TCS and others, so to much power results in spinning out and loosing time.

thats what you think
if ya know how 2 control the spinning, i don't mind extra HP at all :D
besides, i never start my cars in 1st gear... well cept for the REALLY low hp ones *eg daihasu for lightweight k cup*
cuz if ya start at 2nd gear..... u get more speed right away... well less acceleration, but ya catch my drift....
and if its an INSANELY overpowered car *eg escy * i start it in... 3rd..... or meybe even 4th.. :D
