What is your favorite oriental food? Oriental food could mean any asian food such as Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, etc... I know the majority of you guys would say your favorite is Fried Rice or Lo Mein.

I am chinese and my parents own a chinese resturant down here... It seems like some american people do love Chinese food. I rarely see any asian people at my resturant since we live in TN mostly its only americans.

Well my favorite would have to be Kung Pow Chicken which is chinese. Its great! I cant just describe it but man i love it. Kung Pow Chicken include chicken (of course), beans, and nut all in a specal sauce. Thats my favorite.

Please dont kill me you guys but Lo Mein and Fried Rice isnt my favorite food... its alright I guess, i do eat it occasianally.

What are your favorite oriental food?

I'm not a fan of chinese cuisine. Well, except for this stuff:

(It ruins the effect, but I probably have to warn you to look away if you're a wuss and can't handle a little joking.)

Yum yum.

Ignores the 2 numpties above

Kung Po Chicken is fantastic.

 Good one Klo! Its not only Chinese food do any of you like Sushi? I just cant stand those... my parents love them but me NO WAY! Ill fry those motha****a!

I Usually order about the same things If I go eat at the local Chinese/Indonesian Restuarant.
Nasi Ramis, Foe Yong Hai, Babi Pangan & Mi Fang.
I probably spelled some of that wrong though :)
((Edit: If I'm in a festive mood I might get some Deep Fried Shrimp or Peking Duck))

Other than that I like Indian food, as I prefer spicey to sweet & Sour wich is most of the Chinese food you can get here.

Of Japanese food I must say I'm rather fond of Suki Yaki... but the Sake might have something to do with that :D

Thai food (makes sense, since I'm half Thai). And for pete's sake, my mom was the Home Economics professor at the University of Bangkok, so she better know how to cook good Thai food! :D

Chinese is okay, but it's usually either over-flavored or under-flavored. Japanese food takes too long to prepare, and I can't have too much of it.

I love Chinese and Thai. I love the fresh spice in Thai food - the way it's more searing and a fresher taste than Indian food (which I find to me more aromatic and more insistent in its spice).

As far as Chinese goes, I love noodles, and a good Char Sui Chow Mein is difficult to beat.

I also adore Peking Duck with pancakes and plum sauce.

And Deep Fried Shredded Beef.

And Baked Salt and Chilli spare ribs.

The only Chinese I don't like are the sweet dishes, like Sweet & Sour, and Lemon Chicken. Otherwise, I love Chinese food.

Chinese food alot of time are over- flavored but that can be solve with a bowl of WHITE rice... All the seasoning will go on the rice and damn it will be perfect.

I went to Thailand last year... and man they have some good ****. I love Thai food. There hot soup im not sure if you know the name or not but its red and damn in thailand its so HOT! It was burning my mouth but that is how i like it ;).

Shark Fin Soup is the Best soup ever! Cost alot but its 👍 You cant get real Shark Fin Soup from your local chinese resturant ;).

Home cooked chinese food is very different from what you eat at the local resturant. We use white rice only no fried rice (only once in a while i perfer white). My mom always cook some kind of beef/chicken in everything she mostly cook it with some vegitable in some seasoning. To me not alot of Chinese food are over-flavored but i guess im used to it.

General's Chicken, Pepper Steak, Mongolian Beef.
Crab Rangoon.
But I'm working my way down the menu.

How'd you like it? :) Did you travel outside of Bangkok? (It has its place, but it's rather dungy compared to some of the much more beautiful parts of the country you can visit). And hopefully, you didn't take any taxis, did you?

Red curry?

It was fine... we traveled to alot of places including Bangkok and Shanghi. Bangkok was great alot of good place to take photos... and yes we took taxis from time to time. Why do you say? The hotels we stayed in was extremely cheap and it was fun while it lasted. I got sick during the trip, but got over it just fine. We went to places like Great wall of China.

No im not talking about Red Curry. Red Curry is good too tho, i used to love it. My grandma use to make it all the time, I used to eat so much that i threw up afterward  After that im not too fond of Red Curry like i was before.

The soup i was talking about is just soup including tomatoes, crab legs, bamboo shoot, etc... the thing that taste really good are bamboo shoots that are in the soup. All this talk of food is making me really hungry. Its good that my parents own a chinese resturant

Just to those who want to know, my resturant name is Sea Palace.

Because Thai taxi drivers are by far the scariest drivers ever. Maybe you got lucky, but I've been in some taxis around Bangkok where I was almost certain we were going to crash into something.

Hmmm, not sure if that has a name (Thai people love making their own soups by just dumping in whatever they have ;)).

ODEN SOUP, and UDON NOODLE.. man i love udon noodles.. also there is some sort of tako thing that is really good.
My favorite sushi is all nigiri and list is by my preferance:
Akagi (clam)
Hirame (halibut)
IKA!!(squid)
Maguro (tuna)
toro (fat tuna)
For chinese its probably dumplings of some sort and
tso chicken..man thats good stuff
A lot of dishes from Hainan, Guangxi, and Hunan are my favorites.

Isn't the Oriental [or just Chinese] food served in the US not really Oriental at all?

Yeah, while in Bangkok our bus driver hit an old man on a bike accidently just alittle tap. The old guy in the bike fell down and started to cuss... its pretty amazing that the bus driver didnt say anything at all. Like nothing happened.

Yeah my mom is the same way. She just mix everything together.

No idea what you are talking about.

Chinese: Peking Duck, Walnut Shrimp, Scrambled Egg with Shrimp over Chow Fun, Dim Sum, and BBQ Pork anything :D
