Thanks again for hosting the additional qually last night for us late comers Oni - much appreciated.👍 Looks like I have a lil' work to do to get up speed with the front runners.

Yeah thanks for that Oni also, it was good that you could let us lay down our laps.

Jasr73 you were going pretty good 👍.

Sure, there's some fast guys in this series. But I know that racing with them has helped me to improve my skills and driving. And also with the tyre rules, we all get to race against each other in close quarters which helps keep the series interesting.

Still the lone ranger in the 1:36 bracket, may have a boring series in mid pack haha

Thanks mate - you where putting down some good consistent laps too & def. agree re racing with some of the quicker guys 👍. Obviously (me) cranking out one reasonable lap is one thing, managing the tyre wear, close car proximity & focus (especially once she starts to get a lil' more loose), always makes for the greater contest. :)

You spent the majority of the practice testing out the chasis of the BMW against my car mate

Will be interesting too see how this tyre staggering thing works, Not only are Softs faster per lap but they also last longer.

Considering I'm was virtually unkown to you guys, maybe the best strategy was to sandbag the qualifier to get myself a few sets of Softs per race

As far as I'm aware they actually wear the exact same. Though, if was a mid driver, I wouldn't be pushing with them, I'd sacrifice the second or so I gain from having them in order to get them to last 5-10 laps longer than the mediums. But if you push the same with both compounds, I'm 99% sure the wear is the same.

Haha the thought had crossed my mind... :sly: but with my times I may need a set of Race Hards! :ouch:

Speaking of times... once all the Qualifying is finished, Onii do you plan on releasing them? or is it going to be kept close to the chest? Im a stats and numbers guy (even though maths wasn't one of my fav subjects) and I would like to see them.

But this series is very "stealth"

From what I've read wear rates are the same across the board, its only the grip that varies.

That is interesting because I know their is a different in the Racing compounds, or at least their used to be when I tested it.

Who knows what they have updated with the patches though.

Well Oni would be the one to ask, he's done the testing this season and last. It worked fine last series, so I don't see a reason why it won't this season. Don't worry though, despite mid and lower drivers having better tyres, they still aren't quite as fast as the fast drivers. I personally don't think it changes your position at all, just makes the racing closer. So instead of the mid drivers finishing 50 seconds behind, they finish 10-20 behind. 👍

Oh, I wasn't worried, just curious how it would all turn out 👍

Sounds like the qualifier was close! :D

Sorry that I kept dropping in and out, my modem/router is on the way out but gave me no warning in advance so I have not been online with a chance to do my qualifying time yet but I do hope it does not take to long to get the warranty replacement sorted out and then I can be back online with you guys. 👍

I am looking forward to this season very much given how close it sounds like the top group were bunched... ;)

Sounds like the entire season could go to anyone in the top half dozen or more and from that point of view it is the perfect season, where one bad race could cost you very dearly in the final analysis.

Hope to get back online with you all soon.

Cheers, Bomber :)

PS. This had to be posted from my iPhone4 due to my modem issues... :grumpy:

All systems go for tomorrow, what time are you looking at running our session oni_chan?

They are up already, but a little hidden.

If you go to page 1 of this thread, post 2 is a link to a google documents spreadsheet that is used throughout the season for all the results. Currently it looks empty.

But down at the bottom is a tab that has 'series qualifier', click on that and there's where it lists everyone's quali laps.

It's good to look at to see who was fast Vs consistant laps.

Awesome ^

Btw my psn / name is Small_Fryz. If I could be a pain and request to remove the + symbol . Just to avoid confusion if someone wants to add me.

Edit: Just so everyone knows... I only have one time in the box because that's the only time that got submitted not because I crashed out the other 4 laps... just sayin :)

Sports soft and sports medium have the same tyre wear. There is hardly any noticeable difference in wear. Sports hard however have shocking tyre wear. Reason being the less grip they provide and the more you have to push them to get a good lap time results in worn tyres by lap 8-10.

Sounds good. What time are you free today/tonight?

Yeah mate I know, was a good laugh though.. Dunno, not feeling SO serious about this series.. as in.. having fun again! Its good, cos u can have a fun battle with more drivers thanks to the handicap system:tup:
Regardless of wether ur 1st or 10th, I have a feeling i'll be in close company..(hopefully in front though). And BTW, there's nothing wrong with a little tap here n there.. just little taps though.. we save the carnage for practice sessions!:scared:

Just spent 5 hours playing F1 2011... Ganna be hard to find the will powerto leave this game and come back to gt5 for the series hahaha great game you should all look at getting it, dunno how it is on ps3 though heard the graphics are much worse on console, put I can guarantee that the pc version looks like gt5 if not better

Rota, I got it on PC too, what's your steam username, I'll add you and we'll coop championship this biatch.

Yeah looking forward to when you get back X, hope you get your Modem issues sorted out without any headaches.

Yeah I think we're all wondering what sort of a lap you're capable of around Laguna Seca. Stig laid down a good/amazing time, it's up to you to beat it.

It doesn't bro. The game is made on Xbox and ported to PS3 and PC. The only difference is that F1 2011 on the consoles is 720p, and the PC can handle it on 1080p. The mods are what I'd buy the game for PC for, but there is little difference in graphics. Don't forget the problems that PC users constantly face with Codemaster games aswell. Usually they end up with 3 times as many bugs.👎

A bit off topic...
I have been talking to a few guys about how great GT5P and GT5's music is, some of the composer's of GT's music (Masahiro Andoh [Guitar], Satoshi Bando [Drums]) perform in a band called T-Square:

Musical talent! No wonder PD asked some of these guys to make music for Gran Turismo!:D:tup:

Yeah i got F1 2011 for the PC as well. Was going to get it for the PS3 but heard about all the frame rate problems it has so decided against it. Plus its only $49.99 USD on steam while its $89 AU on PS3. So easy decision there. lol

TBH mate, I don't think he'll have any trouble beating it. I know that Xerx is faster than me, and if there was another .350 in that lap, then he should have it in the bag. Whether he can do it or not is up to him though

Add me on steam Oni and rota.

BennyJ is me on steam.

Only having 30mins practice then getting 5 laps with everyone watching is also quite tough. I know I was not near my best due to still attempting to figure out the best way to take some of those corners. With more time available the chance to beat it significantly increases.

Bonson mate I didn't get it through stream, I get to many problems with stea
But if that's the only way we can do that thing together I'll start old steam up again but I'm sure I'll need a fat ass update too haha

It's GFWL isn't it? You won't need steam to play together, I just think they want to add you to their friends lists
