and Spin Gives Will an order.

If its wrong get over it, its getting too hard to figure out what we are up to.

Seeing as tonights race is in France. I thought we would use some french maccas items :D this website should help.

Well, after joining two rooms with 10+ people, several times, i am still being disconnected. I'm at a loss. I'll try once more with your Lounge Oni.
I've taken advice from everyone, even you cactass, and so far nothing is working.

What is the Make and Model Number of the Router/Modem? I would like to see if there is any info out in net land reguarding issues and possible solutions. Tried to join a game last night with the guys, and was disconnected twice by the server trying to enter. Was also in a room with Rota earlier and the whole room was lagging for everyone. Ran a speed test on the laptop (wifi) while still driving in the GT5 race and got this result.

My network speed seems fine, but the host was running with NAT 3.

The best solution unfortunately would be for Oni to run a public room with "fixed room host", no mics, and a room title something like "Invite Room Only!". Unfortunately a lot of time would be spent kicking ****wits who can't read. Plus, hope like hell Oni doesn't get disconnected by the server, or it's all over for everyone.
 
That sucks Pawel, I've had periods where I could play any other game online no problem, but for some reason GT5 is sill playing up for me, seems to have cleared up for now luckily, no idea what I did to change that though sorry mate. :confused:

On a random and off topic note, I recorded my first original song on GarageBand after work last night, I've put it on YouTube.

There aren't any vocals yet, mostly because I can't sing. :lol:
There's just rhythm guitar, drums, bass and lead guitar at the end for now.

Let me know if there are any YouTube problems, it's my first upload.

No, i don't want Oni to jump hoops for me, we tried in the previous series, at one stage, have taital host, and even Oni doing a public server, there wasn't much difference.
I have found one more solution, upgrading my router to a 3rd party firmware
, since its a linksys wrt54glpo......no success.

The only other thing you could try Pawel , is get into Onis room as soon as its up. I have found over the last few nights that if I have an issue with anyone below me on the list when in a room , it affects all the others below them too. No time to try to explain now , just get in as soon as you can !

What an emotional rollercoaster of a race , I think a lot of us went from high to low during the 20 laps, I know I did.

Congrats to Mike on another beautiful drive , so glad you haven't had the connection issues that plagued you in the past. Also well done on a podium Pawel and congrats on getting in the room and staying connected. Just briefly , here's my theory:

Pawel and I have BIG compatibility issues. By getting in the room before me tonight , Pawel had the upper hand and it was me that had trouble staying connected. I figured that would happen and as frustrating as it was getting DCd twice , it wasn't a surprise. In fact it confirmed my theory. That's why I advised Pawel to get in early. One , so he could at least get a race in , and two , to test the theory.

In the end , I was lucky not to get DCd during the race. I don't have a theory to explain how that works though....leave it with me. :)

Disappointed with your decision Oni , but I completely understand and sympathise. Thanks for sticking around to host the series anyway , we can only hope that something drastic is done by Sony / PD / whoever reckons they can fix it , otherwise GT5 has lost any credibilty as a "driving sim".
 
Well well spinner, very interesting, thankfully you were able to race. I don't want anyone to not race because of me.
I remember last series, we didn't have problems, and now when this series began, we are now incompatible?

So is this going to be a regular thing we have to do now? I have to get in early?

Hopefully things are sorted, but still, this kind of thing should not be happening, when the majority(heck, all) of games i own, i have no problem with multiplayer.
Not to mention Oni's multiplayer car physics. Ridiculous.

By the way Evan, that's a great pic, i'm going to have to replay the race, and get my own.

A new season begins on the 5th of March 2012. Details below.

Qualifier
The qualifier will be held to sort each driver out into their respective Tiers (see Rules section).
Each driver is given 5 laps to set their best time around the track.

The 5 laps are taken in 1 go. Once you enter the track (when prompted) you will begin your 5 consecutive laps to set your best time. Once your 5 laps are competed your best time will be recorded and you will be advised to exit the track for the next driver.

A maximum of 2 drivers will be on the track at the same time during the qualifier
to ensure each driver has enough room to set their best time without distraction.

Day: 27th February - 1st March
Qualifier Starts: 8:30pm (Sydney Time)
Qualifier Ends: 10:00pm (Sydney Time)
Track: Tokyo R246
Laps: 5 Laps per driver
Tyres: Racing Mediums
Tyre Wear: OFF

This series is a 1 make series using the DLC pack Aston Martin V12 Vantage 2010.
The Aston Martin V12 Vantage '10 can be purchased from the PSN store (Car Pack 3).

To be eligible to race you must have DLC car pack 3 and Track pack 1.

The series is 8 rounds with 1 round each week (8 weeks).

Fuji Speedway GT - 5th March
Round 2:
Suzuka Circuit - 12th March
Round 3:
Clubman Stage Route 5 (Sprint Race) - 19th March
Round 4:
Circuit de la Sarthe 24hr - 26th March
Round 5:
Nurburgring GP/F - 2nd April
Round 6:
Tokyo R246 (Sprint Race) - 9th April
Round 7:
Monza - 16th April
Round 8:
Spa-Francorchamps - 23rd April

The Rules
Track Edge: Real
Penalties: OFF
Damage: Heavy
Draft: Weak
Tyre Wear: On
Driver Aids: All OFF except ABS
Tyre Limit: Racing Mediums

Tier System
To ensure closer racing all around i have implemented a 3 tier system based on each drivers skill.
Drivers of each Tier will carry a ballast handicap. Details on this system will be revealed at a later date.

Tier 1 100kgs Ballast
Tier 2 50kgs Ballast
Tier 3 0kgs Ballast

Ballast Penalty
As above not only will each Tier carry a ballast handicap but also driver that consistently wins race
after race will become subject to an increased ballast.

Example:
- Driver A wins round 1 and 2
- Ballast of XX applies to Driver A for Round 3 and remains for the entire series
- If Driver A continues to win another 2 rounds in a row then a further increase of ballast will be applied

This is to ensure closer racing for all and provide more driver strategies.

Pit Window
Pit lane opens at the end of lap 5 for Racing Mediums. You cannot change to
Racing mediums until the end of lap 5.

Note: If you receive damage on lap 1-4 that needs to be repaired via pits
you CANNOT change to Racing Mediums until end of lap 5.
Example; you receive damage on lap 3 and need to pit. You must stay on Racing Hards.

All drivers start the race and qualify on Racing Hards.

Corner cutting Rules
2 wheels must be on the black stuff at all times! In other words.
2 wheels must always be inside the white track edge lines.

1st offence: Warning
2nd offence: Point deduction
3rd offence: Point deduction & Disqualified (Given a DNF)

Foul Language and Ramming Not tolerated!! - Instant DQ and removal from the Championship.

Failure to comply results in a maximum point deduction of -15pts

Overtaking Rules

Now the rules for this is simple. The car in front (regardless of its position) has the right of way and ownership of the racing line. The car behind must wait to overtake and not muscle the car infront off the racing line.

Prizes

There will be driver prizes. The top 2 drivers from both Tier 1 & Tier 2/3 gets a prize.

1st Up to 1 million car from the dealership
2nd Up to 500,000 car from dealership
3rd Up to 250,000 car from dealership

Prize Note: The credit limit can be spent on any single car from the dealership the way you see fit.
(Example; 1st place wants a Ford GT + Max Modifications = Under 1 mil so is ok!)

Such a shame it requires track pack 1, I have the car, but can't justify paying for the tracks, or couldn't last time I checked.

Do you guys find that the international events cause you a lot of lag? I haven't found that yet, or is it more about the event times?

Lag and connection problems is the reason why some of the guys can't compete (myself included).

I reckon we should continue as usual , as in we all jump in when it suits us BUT if I'm in before you and I see you having trouble getting in , I'll jump out and send you a message letting you know to try again. Once I see you're in , I'll join , or at least try to. haha.

Apart from my 2 DCs during quali , we got away with it last night. The other option we have (as we did last night) is if we can't see eachother , to just carry on anyway. Not ideal though......

Oni , saw your damage thing on lap 18 (?) , seems the damage did come from nowhere just before you pulled up. You didn't hit the wall I take it ? In my replay , your car is a bit jerky so hard to tell.

My apologies for the late braking effort on lap1 going into the L'Arche chicane. Just at the wrong moment I momentarily lost exactly where I was on the track, checked the mirror then watched the 200M sign fly pass followed by panic braking (trying to put the pedal through it's housing), evasive action (blind luck swerving between traffic) and general swearing (not suitable for this forum) at my own incompetance. Thankfully no harm done to anyone. :dunce:

Yeah exactly.. it just came out of nowhere.. I didnt touch any walls or cars.. was just driving as smooth as i could with the bizarro physics throughout the race then all of a sudden i have rear wheel damage and spin into a sand trap to park it.

Well being a Melbournite, I'd like to race with you blokes too, not that I have issues racing internationally honestly, event times are sometimes 'ok', but I'll have to hunt for a non-dlc one (or specifically only car packs 2&3 dlc anyway).
 
Well, surprise for me, my router died today, 3.5 years old.

A day after the race, quite lucky, maybe my new one will work better. And we might not have to do this "me joining first" buisness.

Well, i tried several rooms with 14+ people, no disconnections at all, even with other devices hogging the net. It may just be luck, or a good day, but i think i might just have fixed my woes.

After wiping away the tears of my own disappointment, I decided to find out what the fuss was all about. On my replay, it all goes south with damage to the right rear wheel, right here, as the car hits the armco after spinning at the end of the escape road.

It was shaping up to be an interesting race up front on monday, with a few of us taking turns in the lead, then of course the GT5 network gods decided that things were going a little too well and struck down on a few unsuspecting drivers.

It's a real shame that all the effort that goes into this series isn't rewarded by being able to actually race in it consistently!

Sorry to hear you're out of the series Oni, we've lost a few this season.
Hopefully something miraculous happens and next series, if there is one, goes well.

Good to see Pawel finish a race! And great result too, well done mate. :)
