So OSX Leopard finally has a release date.

Which is, well, 10 days from now.

So a Single User pack is $129, a Family Pack is $199, and a Single User pack is $116 with the student discount. If you preorder it here, you get it delivered on the 26th.

And here's the full feature list for anyone who's bored.

So... who's getting it?

I'll be getting it.

I'm glad they finally set a date for this thing. That took a while!

Can you use the same disc on PowerPC and Intel? I have an intel by my girl has a PowerPC chip.

When's the earliest they will start shipping products with leopard installed?

The minute Leopard’s available. I believe that if you buy a Mac between now and then, you can upgrade for $10 once it comes out.

Lol, you misunderstood me. I wasn't saying I thought everyone could upgrade to 10.5 for free. I was referring to what Sage said. I thought that if you bought a Mac within a week or so of a new OS release, you could get the new OS free instead of the $10 as Sage mentioned.

Ah. I think if you've bought it within a week you can get the free upgrade, the $10 gig is for people who've bought Macs since October 1st. But I'm not positive.

*shrugs*

Wow, worst education discount evAr. $129 -> $116.
Tiger was like $129 -> $69.

To summarize:

Retail -- $129
w/ edu discount -- $116
w/ CA tax -- 126.15

My wallet = -126.15

Check your school’s technology/book store. My bookstore is offering pre-orders for $69.

I've pre-ordered the teacher edition and it worked out at around $130 USD shipped. I've got a few little issues with Tiger, so I'll be most keen to see how Leopard performs out of the box.

A desktop background change will be the first order of business...

The EULA says that if you buy the single user version, you are only "allowed" to install it on one Mac. The family version "allows" you to install on up to 5 Macs. I think it's got something to do with support as well.

Apple
The Family Pack Software License Agreement allows you to install and use one copy of the Apple software on up to a maximum of five (5) Apple-labeled computers at a time as long as those computers are located in the same household and used by persons who occupy that household. By “household” we mean a person or persons who share the same housing unit such as a home, apartment, mobile home, or condominium, including student members who are primary residents of that household but reside at a separate on-campus location. This license does not extend to business or commercial users.

So basicly, you are paying extra to use your single copy on more than one Mac. Buy the single user and don't look back.

I wouldn't mess with it. Would you like a floor-tiled iMac to go with your bricked iPhone?

There's no serial and no activation, so there's no reason why you can't install it on more than one Mac. That's why you only get one copy even if you buy the family pack.

Btw, I havn't bricked my iPhone...yet :D

^Yeah, you could even install it off an iPod. But I wouldn't pirate OS X.

Plus, I already ordered it. Tomorrow baby! Doing an über clean install.

People are already starting to receive it. I pre-ordered it at my bookstore, but I don’t think I’ll get it till Monday, because I’m pretty sure the bookstore is closed due to the fires. :(

Don't let those leopards burn! 1007; Steve Jobs will thank you.

Dude, my dad just shot me an e-mail and said Leopard ate his Mac Mini. He had to reformat.

WOW! Really? Dang, that's rough. Seriously rough. What happened?

I don't know, but it just ate his hard drive. Good thing he keeps backups.

I think Apple has gotten really lousy lately. I didn't have a good experience with my iphone (had to replace the first one and even this one is having wifi trouble), they're still using crappy video cards in their macs, and now the OS is going cannibal. Oh boy.
