Let me explain, when I go drifting and I spin or something or I snap back, I think I didn't realise it before, but how do you guys countersteer, WITH YOUR HANDS.
I know it's sounds kinda........stupid:lol: But REALLY every time I begin countesteering I have to turn that wheel REALLY fast (900mode) and end up being wrapped in my own hands lol!! I really know it's stupid but if I let the wheel countesteers for itself by releasing the wheel a bit, I have to counter the snap back again, and there ya go lol!! Is there anyone that knows a tip for this REDICULOUS PROBLEM, cause I think THIS IS IT, THEEJ PROBLEM OF ME!!! Is this just getting used to or WHAT!!!???

after a while the wheel becomes an extension of your senses.. dont forget about the pedals man. too much throttle can force you to counter too much

If your having to steer the wheel extremely quickly in order to bring it back to center without getting the sling shot effect your beginning to bring it back to center too late and should try beginning earlier i think. Judging when and how quickly to do this depends on you being able to recognize what tires the weight of the car is over as well as other factors.

I've had the problem recently, except I've found a decent temporary solution for it. Smaller angle drifts. Simple enough eh, just practice getting the drift itself down so that you can have the best feel for the wheel, and in end, forget that it's even there .

Thanks for the link and thanks for that advice on decreasing my angle a bit, but how do you drift thrue a 180 degree turn, if I decreas the angle there, I'll end up in the grass outside of the corner(sort of understeer). I will begin drifting in other corners with less angle though, maybe that IS my problem, thanks:tup: And I'll let ya know when I have the problem solved.

Well I've already found MY solution:D
Here it is (copied from drift settings depot where I have them noted):

Settings for the: Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STi spec C '04(you can buy it stock at Subaru) >FR'like handling<
Parts to buy:
-Racing exhaust
-Racing brakes kit
-Brake controller
-Transmission Fully customizeable
-Triple clutch
-Variable LSD
-Carbon driveshaft
-Stage 3 turbo kit
-sports intercooler
-Fully customizeable suspension
-N2 tyres
-All weight reduction and the Increase Rigidity upgrade
PS no engine mods like NA tuning or something

Settings:
Brake balance f/r: 3/24
Driving Aids: all of except for ASM understeer wich is 20
Spring rate f/r: 6.3/5.4
Ride height f/r: 98/98
Damper bounce f/r: 8/8
Damper rebounce f/r: 8/8
Chamber angle f/r: 3.0/2.0
Toe angle f/r: 0/0
Stabilizer f/r: 2/2
Transmission: stock (meaning auto should be 12)
LSD initial f/r: 18/51
LSD accel. f/r: 30/60
LSD decel. f/r: 15/52
VCD: 10
Weight balance, ballast weight: 47
Weight balance, Front/Rear balance: 50

This was a 4WD car but I set it up this way it should be FR like with less countersteering and little snap back, because that were my problems if you read my posts in other threads. It's my first VERY driftable car:D:tup: I know it doesn't look challenging to drift it, but I don't want it to be that, I want it to be easy.

for those larger turns you're going to have to initialize the drift... prolly using the feint drift to get a big enough angle to take the turn. but then you're going to have to pump the gas to keep the angle.

as far as countersteering.... when you feel that you have to turn the wheel to quickly to countersteer, that means that you are countersteering too late. you have to countersteer early. you will have to fight the wheel a little bit. just remember that when you are near the end of the drift (car starts gripping) you want your wheels straight or close to straight.

i've had the same problem for about a day but this seems to be the best solution for countersteering... remember to do your steering work early.

oh and one more thing... i went looking through the options and found that you can put your steering at different levels.... by default i think it's power assisted. try putting it on simulation... it's much easier do drift with simulation... plus you get a better feel for the car

Thanks for the advice, although I have found car settings where I can limit the c/s problems, it's good advice though, thanks anyway,

is this your first post? Welcom to the forums then:)

thanks yeah that was my first post... i'm a big fan of gt4 also and my brother found this site. yeah i've been having A LOT of problems trying to drift with the 900 degree wheel. i can drift pretty easy with the ps2 controller, but the wheel brought everything to a whole new level. now i'm starting to get the hang of it, it just all comes down to practice

i was here on the forums trying to see how everyone else is doing and maybe get some pointers and share some. but i'm glad you found something that works for you. 👍

Try those settings above:D It really helps, I just have to steer like 200 degree's at most in 900 degree mode:sly: it works at every circuit, any corner. I still do things wrong but I can DEFINATLY see it's my timing, otherwise this car is perfect:sly::D
Just give it a try and let me know if you like it:)

oh aiight... yeah i'm going to have to definitely try that. sucks that i'm at work right now. i really want to be at home playing it... i'm going through withdrawals. as soon i get a chance to try it out i'll let you know how it goes. thanks =)

GT4 Fan, I think you settings are pretty decent except for 2 things.

1) ASM Understeer setting: By turning up the understeer setting, you're letting the computer do the majority of the work for you getting and keeping the car sideways. I can understand why you would want to do that, but it's a crutch that you simply don't need.

2) VCD setting: Now this one is a little more subjective. Usually, when I drift AWD I keep it between 25-35%. This way you are drifting an AWD car, not a FR car with a little bit of pull. I know there are some cars out there that simply can't drift unless you set the VCD like that. But I don't believe the STI Spec C is one of them.

Other than that, not bad. 👍

No your right, and I intentionally did those few things, just as I did with my Supra in GT3 remember, I agree it was overpowered, but it helped me to get the feel of drifting in GT3:)👍, and so I intentionally made these settings real easy so I can slowly increase the difficulty:tup: I know you posted this not as comment but as help so thanks, and I'll slowly adapt my settings to what you said, more percentage on the VCD and decreasing the ASM understeer. Thanks anyway:)

Ok, as long as you're not sticking with those. As far as the angle thing goes. Well, just do what you can do. If you can't get 50+ degrees right now, settle for 30 degrees but do it smoothly and the big angles will follow! :)

I remember your Supra, so I understand that you're trying to do the same thing here. Just be careful you don't get too used to them. :dopey:

No I try not to get used to it, glad you understand, and I'm already able to do VERY much angle in drifts:D That's one of the big +'s it has cause even with +50 degree drifts I can get out of them without snap-back.
I'll edit this in the Settings Depot that's it's not good to get used to it, only as a beginning, and maybe I'll keep these settings just for fun and actually LEARN with others, cause it's REAL fun to drift with it:D
