I think I made some in the days of the color blue, but I've forgotten them by now. I don't spend enough time here to warrant joking around with other accounts.

I think I have six or seven alternate accounts. You know they're mine because, brainiac that I am, I set the birthday the same as mine, so when my birthday comes around they all share that day as well. One of them is DougRules!7777!, although M5Power Rules! is, oddly, not mine but Klos's.

You would still have your old account, wouldn't you? All of your new posts might just be split between the two if you use the new account for posting as well.

Hmm, I myself actually have another account, I was Fat Boy Drifter. I got a new account because I didn't think I was that good of a member here, so I created a new account to start fresh, probably the best thing I've done yet. I wasn't sure how many other people had others accounts, I actually thought it was frowned upon to have extra accounts here, so I never said anything.

Hmm I thought it was against the AUP to have more than 1 account. Isnt that why PS got banned too?

I used to have my old EVO Lancer account before I started a new one with the name I wanted.

MachOne had Evolution. The staff combined all his posts to Evolution. Then, he got banned. Don't know what that was all about, but a sign you shouldn't have more than one account?

Many people have multiple accounts. It is not looked upon favorably, but the reasoning is understood.

I have a few "tester" accounts, as does most of the staff. I'd say it provides anonymity, but its fairly easy to pick out. One of my test accoutns has been an admin, a moderator, banned, rebanned, and reinstated, all for testing.

PS was banned for many and multiple infractions of the AUP. Not for having multiple accounts.

Generally, the only other acceptable reason to have a second account on these (and other GT-related boards) is for the purposes of posting additional race times in a different car.

I think he got banned for being an idiot, and then made more accounts to try and get around it.

Nope, that was Evan (ExigeExcel).

I have 2 other accounts. I am unwilling to disclose the names, but one I have used recently after forgetting about it for a long time, and the other I use frequently.

Btw, post in this thread at your own risk!! Simply by admitting that you have a second account means that us mods can easily find your alternate accounts, whereas normally we wouldn't bother to look

Also, bear in mind that some people (inc. non-mods) have Ph.D's in Google and the GTP Search Function, and it is really amazing how easy it is to put 2+2 together and find out who is who (and I should know because I've successfully rumbled a few people without even having to resort to using mod tools...) ...for example, you may have a rare typo that only you (and your alter-ego) frequently make, but you won't know about it because (obviously) you don't even realise that there is a word that you are consistently spelling differuntly to everyone else (since you think you're spelling it correctly, hence why you keep typing it!!) - and yes, this technique has actually been used on atleast one occasion in recent memory

Well, is it against the "rules" to have extra, I should think not as long as you don't stir up any trouble.

It's not specifically against the rules. However, it is frowned upon in general.

If whatever you want to post is too questionable for your real username, you probably shouldn't be posting it at all under any username. Therefore, it automatically arouses suspicion when you use an alternate account.
