Well. About 2002 Dad (who is seperated from Mum and lived three hours north) swapped two of his Mistubishi's (Pajero and some other old car) for a 1990 R32 Nissan Skyline GTS-4, automatic, sedan (was seized back by the car company after another buyer couldn't make the payments). A few months later i finally made it up there, got a ride in it and then drove it - and fell in love with Skylines all over again (first time was in Gran Turismo 2&3).

And how it looks as of Friday, 28th September after finally getting the new club stickers on the car.

2004 he announced he was moving to the USA soon, and i started saving up enough money so i could buy the car off him.

December 31st 2004, i paid the last of the $3,000 he wanted for it (he bought it for $6,000 or more) and changed the ownership papers.

Follow on to July (or sometime) 2006, we are looking on TradeMe(.co.nz) for a non turbo Skyline for one of my younger brothers. Found a 1991 R32 GTS-25 automatic sedan for $2,000 located in Queenstown. So me, both my brothers and my sister and another girl cruised over to Q-town, took a look at the car, i test drove it and then we came to the conclusion that $2,000 was way too much. It had crash repair damage in the boot (not a terribly good job), the car wouldn't change down gears unless you turned it off (cause later found out to be the computer) and so on.

We talked him down to $1,200 and then bought the car a week later i think.

Wednesday August 30th or something (can't remember exact date) brother had been cruising around by himself for most of the day, got a phone call in the evening from him asking if Mum was there. I said "No, why?". He replied ".........i crashed the car, its bad." I couldn't beleive what i was hearing and when i got more details i really started to get into a panic (because i love Skylines so much). Luckily Mum got home as i was just heading out to my car, i likely would have driven to his location too fast.

Anywho, got there (was getting dark), he was okay (but shaken), car was an absolute mess and i eventually had to look away because i couldn't handle it - got quite upset in fact. Called a mechanic mate from the Skyline club, he drove over and took a few things off/secured a few things on the crashed Skyline and drove it home in the dark (still drove fine!), following Mum while i drove his GTS Skyline back.

Anywho after months of wondering what happened we all eventually came to the conclusion: inexperienced driver, uphill curve on a potholled gravel road, too much speed, driving a notoriously bad car (Skyline) on gravel.

Dots represent path. Came around corner sidewaysish, countersteered, countersteered again but too much, resulting in a slide towards the bank.

First white circle is where the front of the car impacted, second is where the back hit (red circle is the rock which made the dint by the back bumper) and where the car rode up the bank (it somehow eventually ended up facing the way it was going again).

Fast forward to March, other brother knew of some workmates who were selling a Skyline, we went to their place, i took the 1992 R32 GTS-25 automatic sedan for a test drive. It was an ex-boy racer mobile and had an exhaust that was too loud, cut springs (very uncomfortable ride) and so on.

Eventually it was bought for $900 for my brother who crashed his last one and in exhange for the engine out of the crashed 25 the aformentioned mechanic mate returned the car to a legal standard.
He eventually sold the motor for $800 or so and last i heard it was making over 300 hp after the new owner slapped a turbo on it! Still running after a head on (ish) crash :D - the body of the crashed 25 could be repaired for a LOT of money but the chassis bend was going to cost too much to fix, so the car was stripped for parts (we still have it). Bloody waste. :(

Then a few months ago Mum decided she wanted a Skyline too. She eventually found one an hour or so south and after talking to the owner online she went down with $1,100 or so and bought back her 199x R32 Nissan Skyline GTS-25 MANUAL sedan (manual conversion though). It is not yet road legal because the previous owners had taken it offroading and it has to have $500 or more of repair work done underneath the car.

But just recently Mum and my brother who owns the other new GTS-25 swapped cars as she wants an auto (and a car that is already road legal).

I of course am extremely jealous of both of them, as i desperately want a manual Skyline (not doing a conversion on mine).

So at the moment i'm just about halfway towards the $6,000 i need to start seriously looking for a good condition, FACTORY manual, stock standard (as much as possible) R32 GTS-25 coupe. Then i start saving for the GT-R, alongside restoring the GTS-4 (engine and gearbox will both be getting rebuilt, and thats about $3,000 each).

I'm also looking out for a stripped (interior mainly) R32 manual coupe shell, because this will become my track car (going to aim to get it as light as possible and a non turbo 300 hp at the wheels, possibly with the assistance of a supercharger). However, this is my ub3r long term goal, so will take years to get it fully made.

Other 'performance' cars in our family - there's only two i know of, both in my immediate family. Youngest brother has a 1986 Mazda RX-7 Turbo (S4) and its probably the closest match to the performance of my car (i think i have the fastest car) and Dad has a 1994 Ford Mustang 5.0 GT (he lives in Wisconsen or somewhere).

Just thought i'd share this 'little' bit of information, going to try get all three Skylines in the same photoshoot eventually.

So you could say we are Skyline crazy (me especially). :D

Next time I go to NZ I’m totally driving your Skyline. ;) Sucks about your brother crashing the car, though. I’m glad he’s okay, though. Could well have been much worse.

Also, I need to chat to you again on MSN some day, dude. It’s been way way too long.

Uh, well i'll give you a ride in it anyway. Don't even let family members drive my car. :o

Yeah it has been ay, i'm hardly ever on MSN now. :(

These skyline pictures are beautiful, they match with the scenery very well.

Too bad for the car accident though. :indiff:

Yeah, those first few pics of my car i took in 2006 and they are still by far the best photos i have of it, despite having taken hundreds (i assume) of pics since then.

Me needs new camera. :(

Do you got the full size picture of the one in your avatar? It seems like an interesting shot. :)

Yup, but it doesn't have a yellow tint like the avatar.

It is a macroed shot i took when parked up at the Aramoana spit, on the Otago Peninsula. :)

Some pics from a joint (Toyota & Skyline) car club meet last night (because of the wet it wasn't a big turnout, so we're having another attempt next Thursday).

SkylineObsession, I +Rep you for the pictures you posted, just look at picture 4 on the last post. OMG.

Hehe, cheers. I'm particulary fond of the last pic. Had to take them with the camera sitting on the ground, otherwise they went all blurry.

Have all the pics in 1024x768 too if anybody wants them.
