I went around looking for gas last night. Ever gas station was closed except one, that I saw, and it had lines wrapping around the block. I wasn't able to spend hours in line. On my way to work this morning I saw two gas stations open. Both had lines. At one the lines were so long I'm sure they will run out before everyone in line got gas. The line was at least four blocks long on two streets.

A couple stations tried charging $4.95 a gallon and ended up having to close due to mob actions against them. There was a funny thing on the news where a camera man got his ass kicked by some angry jerk for no reason other than having his camera set up in the filling area. The cops got him. Never hit a guy with access to a helicopter. They'll find you.

I'm going to have to get gas tomorrow, and I don't know where. Co-workers are suggesting going at 3:00 in the morning but there are problems with that, and not only that I don't want to.

The problem is that people are buying more gas than they ordinarily would. Escalades and hummers with half a tank are all going to fill up while Hyundais run out of gas while waiting in line, only to have the place close before they can get gas.

Fuel truck drivers are waiting in line in Tucson longer than they are allowed to drive in a day, so full trucks bound for Phoenix just sit there until another driver can be found.

And it's supposed to go on for another two weeks like this. Fun.

Seems like this country is going to hell in a hand basket with the systematic breakdowns as of lately.

Is it at all fathomable that the gas and power failures are a coordinated terrorist effort?
 
It's fathomable, but I don't think it is. I think it's imcopetence and bad planning.
 
No Doug he cant come to surprise for gas because I live there and we don't have any either.....I think I'd hire a bum or one of those guys in front of circle k waiting for a job to wait in line for me....Can you belive that there are still people driving around in their 10 mpg H2's? crazy man....oh well I'm going to the grand canyon this weekend...in an SUV...so there better be gas or the steel grill is gonna get some action.....or better yet why don't we learn our lesson from Hollywood? Me and milefile will go get black honda civics, motorcycle helmets,and green neon lights and go hijack trucks....except we wont get electronics...we'll just take the feul tankers! brilliant no? hehehe I'll just go to the police station at 3 am with a hose and take their gas...or the dealership...or from the people waiting in line for gas!! Hey that gives me a new idea! let people go infront of you for money!

anyway it's not that bad here, prices are 1.86 a gal and i can get gas whenever because I am best freinds with the gas station manager and he'll tell me when the next tanker comes and I'll go park next to the pump..

1 What do you mean what's the point? I can only drive one car at a time so why the hell would I need gas in all of the others?:odd:

2 I don't see why its price would increase. It's not coming through the same pipelines as the normal 87-93(91,94, whatever) gas that the city gets.

3 Well if, for some reason, the prices of 100 low lead/avgas/JetA/etc went up just like regular gas then I wouldn't drive all the way out to the airport to buy it. Duh?

Oh, and - people in the gas/oil industry suck.

If gas prices went up like that in the US, it wouldn't be because of pipelines, it'd be because of short supply. And they dwindle equally, I'd assume.

Oh, and - people in the gas/oil industry suck.

I was talking about a situation like milefile's - where a broken pipeline is causing a shortage in Phoenix/Tuscan's gas supply.:odd: I was talking about an isolated area - not the US as a whole. If that was the case, then yes, I would agree that the price of fuel at the airport would also have a ridiculous increase in price.

I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore.

But prices haven't gotten that high yet. Are you telling me you wasted my time?! DIE!
 
Exactly what are the prices up to now?

The '$2.79 for a gallon of 100 low lead' was just a number I pulled out of my ass. I'm guessing the price is actually around the high $1.90's to low $2.20's.

Probably about right... the real problem isn't the price - $1.90-$2.20 is still fairly cheap - but the problem is the hour-long waits at some of these gas stations since some stations are entirely without gas. That would be the driving force to get me to drive out to the airport and buy crappy fuel - but only for my hatchback, the other cars are too nice.
 
yeah its pretty crazy right now....i just left the state today cuz im in IL for the next week and my car's nestled safely in my garage right now w/ a half a tank of gas....i was hoping by the time i got back things would be a little better, but it looks like that might not happen...
 
The gas prices in LA have hit the $2.30 mark. We were about to leave for a trip in the car, but we decided to stay home. I have a bad flu-cold anyway, and the weather has reduced to a more comfortable level around home.

Sorry to hear about the refueling problems. Let's hope you have better luck than this poor schlemiel.:lol:

Well there is some good news. The EPA lifted restrictions on AZ feul for 30 days meaning that we can use any feul we want. Before we could only use special gas in the summer that reduces polution so we don't end up like cali. Ironivaly the company whos line broke recived money to enlarge the pipeline that broke.
 
I finally got some gas last night. I got lucky. I went onto a local radio station's website to find out where to go, made a list, and went out. After passing two closed stations I spotted a fuel tanker, so I followed it. A couple miles down the road it pulled into a closed station with nobody waiting. I pulled up to a pump and only had to wait for the truck to unload. Within minutes the place was a total zoo. People were pulling in from every entrance and a long line up the street formed very quickly. I'm just glad I wasn't around to see the chaos that surely followed.

And as SkylineGTRGuy said, we can have "conventional" gas now, which also means more truck drivers are allowed to haul it. From what I understand things should start getting back to normal this weekend. I should be good for a week.
 
HEHEHE my wait in line for all three cars was less than a minute...My friend from the station called and told me the tanker was coming and I got people to take the other 2 cars and wen't and filled em up for 1.85 a gal....
