Ferrari only built a hand full though.

That's not a Ferrari-built one you've got there...

The webpage that you got those photos from
This incredible motorcar was converted into a convertible at an astronomical cost! We are told that nearly $40,000 was spent on this Testarossa to turn it into a convertible. It is one of the better conversions that we have seen! Because it was done recently, after the car was manufactured, it has the 360 Spyder style convertible top. This is an opportunity to acquire a one of a kind Ferrari that will certainly make any owner proud to own!

In any case, there are indeed convertible conversions, but to the best of my knowledge Ferrari never built a Testarossa Spider.

Eh... I'd pass. I remember playing old versions at the arcade and I sucked at it. I barely made the time limits but I suppose it was fun. I would probably play it for about 5min., turn it off, and stick in GT4

Well, they actually did. The Spyder followed or better yet, took the fate Lamborghini's SV Roadster would take several years later.

Like SV Roadster, only a few made it out of the factory. Many US Importers and owners who couldn't get the cars, decided to hacksaw theirs'. The same has been done with many cars, including the Miura.

Looks like it may be delayed slightly, or else IGN is being overly cautious.. They've changed the U.S. release date from "Q1 2006" to "Q2 2006", although the Japanese release is unchanged (March 31st). Gamespot just has it listed as "March 2006", with no differentiation between Japanese and U.S. release.

I hope they announce a specific date soon.

*adds Outrun Coast To Coast to his list of must buy for 2006*

Looks alright, and has Ferrari's? I'm there. Anyone know of any other screen shots?

And Ferrari's were in that Type-S racing or whatever it was called from Squaresoft, which I think wa a launch game.

That's all true, of course... but it's been a while for us. I think NFS:HP2 was the last PS2 game to feature Ferrari. And there have been some slick new cars in the last couple years.. I'm particularly looking forward to the F430 and the Enzo.

Hey, I actually liked that game.

The F50 was so much fun to slide around.

FYI, looks like the game has been dated for the U.S.. Both IGN and Gamespot are listing the release date as March 21.

That's only three and a half weeks away. :)

*sigh*

Nevermind, apparently.. now they've got it listed as April 11th.

Sounds like a big helping of "We don't really know".

Dammit.

I see pictures here for the first time:

Again, I'm not excited about the game only because Ferarri is in the game. What I am excited about is that us PS2 gamers can get some OutRun 2 love AND THEN SOME. I seen the video of OutRun 2 and the Sega Super GT/SCUD Race track. Only thing I didn't like was that I still want to play the original Super GT/SCUD Race tracks the way I remember them at the arcades. This convergence of the tracks isn't a bad deal, though. My only concern is that the slowdown problems I heard in the XBOX version of OutRun 2 may or may not be fixed for the PS2. My first response to the game is... it's beautiful. I played OutRun 2 as a demo at XBOX stands. You could choose between the Ferrari 360 Modena (mi amor), and the sexy Ferrari F50. I think the demo limited you to the easy route, but the game is very nicely paced. I played the classic OutRun games only once. Other than that, this looks like a good way for PlayStation 2 gamers to enjoy OutRun action about as much as the XBOX boys. I think this Coast to Coast deal is going to the XBOX and PC as well, but I was commenting on the PS2 deal, since that's what I own. I think this game will do pretty well if XBOX-types enjoyed it.

I might like this game. What do you think?

When I was at Game Stop the other day, I asked about Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast. They told me the release date has been bumped to April 24th. &%$#!! What is the deal? This release date has been moved around more than I can remember. Even the release date on the Sega website states 03/31/2006 (Euro market?) But for $29.99 & being a collector of almost all things Ferrari, I can't complain too much.

Well, since the Europeans are getting the game before us americans, I'm planning on illegally downloading the Euro PC version and using that to tide me over until the NTSC/U PS2 version comes out.

I've played this a lot over this weekend and now the songs are stuck in my head.

Speaking of the songs, I really liked what they did there. We get the songs from the 1986 and 1989 OutRuns, the songs from Outrun 2, and of course the songs made for Coast 2 Coast. As for the car sounds, well, they all sound the same. :indiff: At first I set the car sounds on max and BGM a bit lower but you get bored of the same boring engine noise in all the Ferraris, so I switched those around. 👍

The game is locked at 60fps most of the time, but it's not unusual to get frame rate drops when the screen gets too crowded. It's not that annoying really, and racing with up to 14 rivals plus heavy traffic is something you don't see much on PS2 games. The gaphics are good, but not great. If you pause the game you'll notice how low-poli things are. It looks beautiful in motion though.

I haven't bought many cars yet, just the 360 Spider, the F430 and the SuperAmerica. You start off the game with two cars available, can't really remember their names (I'm not good with Ferrari's car names) and you use the points you make racing and doing the missions to buy more. There are quite a lot of variety. You get a bunch of Ferrari cars, plus modified and racing versions of some of them.

Other things you can buy with those points are reverse/night versions of tracks, different missions to play in OutRun2 and OutRun2SP mode, BGM and car colors.

I haven't tested the online mode yet, should be fun. The game doesn't seem to be short, so far I completed about 25% of it. Plus you get the original OutRun2SP with it, so the fun should last for some time.

I got the psp version of Outrun CtoC. I really like it. The starters cars are the Dino and the Daytona (like Sony Kroket in Miami Vice).

I've ordered the PS2 version, should have it on Wed's.

Damn you Europeans, getting the game before us americans......

Though, I can't really complain, can I -- usually you guys get games late, right? Or am I wrong?

Your right, theres not many games we get first.

WRC, DTM/Toca Race Driver, F1 games and Prologue versions from that not so well known franchise ;)

That's still not many, theres thousands of games around and the US get's most of them before Europe, and I'm not talking 51%, closer to 90 if not more.

Well that sucks. How frikkin' hard is it to make unique engine sounds when the game has only TWELVE CARS?!?

I was looking forward to that, too.. bastards.

@live4speed and MarcoM: Yeah, I thought so...I'll just patiently wait for the 20-whatever-th. :)

Personally, I don't find the roar of a Ferrari V8 to be boring by any means...I actually find it quite exhilarating. :) That doesn't mean I won't have the BGM cranked up -- Outrun's music is half of the experience. :sly:
