This gem of a game just came out on the European PSN today, fantastic arcade fun.

Anyone else other than Scaff ;) who has it yet?

Such a feel good game with great music and (still) great graphics.

It is a great little title and it is good to have all the classic music on it, it does look great, the handling is exactly as it should be, but (you knew that was coming) why the bloody hell is it in stereo!!!!!!!

I am rather annoyed about this as its the only thing that puts a damper on an otherwise great PSN release, I mean would a 5.1 remix of been that much hastle.

:) and for the sound :grumpy:

Scaff

Yeah this game really rocks. For me this is the first time the put a mini game on the store that is not totally crap.

The only bad thing about this game is, its not a full price game, with more content, like earning money to buy new cars and unlocking and upgrading car parts and that sorta stuff.

Anyway for the price its a real bargain with lots of fun. Its suprising such a simple title can have all those functions in online that we are still misiing in GT5 P.

Very easy to navigate menu system, with options for private races, friends invites, leaders boards, and all that kinda stuff. very nicely made.

Sounds good but Outrun 2006 has 15 cars, 30 courses where this has 10 cars and 15 courses.

You can pick up Coast 2 Coast for £2-3 for PC so this seems a little expensive.

Are the graphics and quality up to the PC version? Also, I take it I can use the G25?

What is strange is that the US doesn't get this game on PSN and its exclusive to Xbox Live for some strange reason. I'm in the UK so it doesn't matter to me but this sounds pathetic that US PS3 owners can't buy Outrun. Surely Microsoft haven't paid for rights?

I've got it on XBL, it's a good blast, just a shame the squeezed out some of the content from C2C.

How big is the file size?

I'm wondering if its over a 1gb then Sega may have to pay US PSN money or something and Sega feel it'll sell more on 360 live anyway but Sega feel it'll do well on Europe PSN, so it's worthwhile.

I think it's just under 350mb, which is the limit for XBLA games, hence why the watered down the content.

While some EU PSN users like to claim they are always the last to get new content... the truth is they get quite a lot of content that we in the States do not, especially PSP and PS1 games.

There have also been several games that were released in the EU stores before they made it over here, like...
  • Super Rub 'a' Dub
  • Go! Puzzle
  • Aqua Vita
  • Mesmerize: Distort
  • Operation Creature Feature
  • The Trials of Topoq
  • Tori-Emaki
  • GTI Club+: Rally Côte d'Azur
  • Astro Tripper
  • Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom
  • Savage Moon
And we are still waiting for Dark Mist, which you all have had available for nearly a year.

I doubt OutRun Online will not make it over here, and I hope it doesn't take as long as Astro Tripper, which took three months to get released here.

And PSP peripherals...

Don't get your hopes up.

OutRun Online Arcade an XBLA exclusive in North America
by Alexander Sliwinski { Jan 20th 2009 at 5:08PM }

Thank you for joining us today. We've been informed by CVG that OutRun Online Arcade will not be released on PSN in North America. Please, remain calm and don't flip out like the blond in the passenger seat. Sega Europe informed the site that Europe will receive the title on XBLA and PSN; however, North America will only receive the XBLA version. No explanation was given.

Obviously, we've contacted Sega of America to confirm the information and ask what changed since it announced the title last month.
I smell Microsoft points money changing hands.

Oh My! I might have to get this! The arcade original, surely has to be one of the greatest games ever made, and I hope to god, this game does it justice. I haven't had my PS3 on for a couple of weeks due to boredom, maybe this game will re-ignite the fires! 👍

I believe it's better to play Outrun '06 on the PC than Outrun Online Arcade for the 360 or PS3. The reason is because Outrun Online Arcade isn't superior as Outrun '06. This is why Sumo Digital had to cut the contents down and made the game suitable for online rankings. Of course, this version of Outrun is based on '06. I've tried it on the 360 myself and I deleted it after I got fed up with it. You need a wheel to play, but you can use the controller. Although playing with the controller can be frustrating and get used to. It's just depends how well you're playing Outrun.

Have any of you got this game to work with a wheel on PS3?

I've got the G25 and I can't get it to work. I emailed the devs and they say it definitely works with the G25 and other Logitech wheels and they said that they even tried it for me on a G25 with the same model number, 60gb ps3 and a retail UK download from PSN.

There's no functionally with the G25. The only thing is the wheel goes into a 360 degree mode but thats it. They say the dpad on the shifter even works the menu's but not one button, pedal works.

I've tried the G25 in USB port 1-4. Plugging it in while the game is running. I've tried deleting the game and downloading the game again. Tried different configs in the menus. They said the vibration settings for the Dualshock3 work as the feedback for the wheel when its plugged in. I mentioned would me having only the launch sixaxis somehow disable the games wheel support but its been a week since and they've not replied.

GT5p, GT4, Ferrari Challenge, LFS, rfactor all work perfectly and I've not had any problem with the G25 or PS3.

It seems this game doesn't support the wheel but they're adamant it works. I was expecting them to sorry, it doesn't support the wheel, we might patch it, or it only works with some madcatz wheel or something. I played this with the wheel in the 80's and Outrun 2006 has wheel support so I'm disappointed at the moment.

It's a long shot asking here but has anyone bought the game and used the G25.

I've got 3 emails from them but it seems they either don't believe me or just don't know what it could be as its just plug-in and play.

Sorry I only skimmed the post but my only recommendations would be
1. make sure you turn the ps3 on with g25 connected and no other peripheral connected.
2. ensure the g25 is set into the sequential shifter mode not h pattern.

Cheers for the replies guys.

yeah I've tried those things J-PaP and also tried turning the sixaxis off.

Well at least I know other people have the G25 working.

Just an update and for anybody who comes across this.

My G25 is working with Outrun now. All I did was change my hard drive to a 320 gb.

The PS3 games, installs are backed up from my original HD and simply restored on to my new HD. I plugged in my G25 on the xmb screen and noticed it behaving differently and it didn't do a full lock to lock like normal and stopped in the centre from right hand lock in a fixed position. Its never been solidly fixed like this on the xmb before so I load up Outrun and everything works.

Very strange as I've not had a problem with any other game, demo with the sixaxis or G25 since owning it in 2007.

All I can say is I've downloaded lots of demos and deleted them and maybe messed the hard drive up but strange how even on the xmb somethings changed. GT5p, GTHD, GT5p Japan demo, FC all worked great beforehand (FC does have a dead zone) so I don't know how a change of HD fixed it and I had 5 gb left when I installed Outrun.

By the way, Outrun is great fun with the wheel.

cheers

BUMP

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I need help with the Passing Breeze & Gumball King trophies. Any advice on how to get those target times? What route to take? Which car do you use?

I'm currently using the Tuned F40 and taking the Left Right Left Left route. I'm using AT though, will MT make any difference? And will using a wheel help? My current best time is 5 seconds of the target (for Passing Breeze) and 10 seconds off (for Gumball King).

Any help greatly appreciated 👍.

PS Does anyone have time when we can meet up? I would also like to knock off the 2 online trophies. If you haven't got those as well I can help you get them too :).

Do you need to have much progress in the game to get the online trophies done? I have purchased this game just haven't gotten around to playing it yet so would definitely be up for doing the online trophies.

Edit: Appears online trophies are easy. Drop me a pm if you would like to organise a meet up online.

Thanks to J-PaP, I finally got my 2 online trophies just now. Just the Cardiogram, Passing Breeze and Gumball King trophies to get. Any tips for those? Anyone?

Sega have announce that they are now removing this game from the PSN & XBLA due to no longer having licensing rights to Ferrari's. Steam have also removed Coast 2 Coast for the same reason.

Hopefully this isn't anything to do with the rumoured delay with release of GT5 which I don't believe is going to happen? I really don't see how this could affect other games though as the press release makes it sound like they've just not renewed the contract rather than it being lost due to exclusivity with another company.

Yup, I ranted about it in *THIS* thread. It's nothing short of bullocks!!!!

Yeah it's a good little game. Probably not the best Outrun I have played outside the arcades though. The original arcade one will still be the best, but the best console one I played was a pixel perfect arcade translation to the Sega Saturn in the form of a compilation release called Sega Aces. It contained 3 games: Outrun(brill), Afterburner(another perfect conversion), and ....erm...Space Harrier(meh).

Regarding Outrun Online Arcade, why is it whenever I try to search for an online game, I get nothing? Does anybody play this online?

It's nice to have this rather than having to either resort to playing it in the arcade or on the PS2 with OutRun 2006: Coast2Coast.
One drawback for me is that there is no OutRun 2, nor is there the classic mixes for the Outrun/Turbo OutRun games. God I miss Rush a Difficulty...
