Overheating?

Alright so I bought a new case for my Viao since I hated the fact it was purple and I couldn't put a window in it. So anyways the new case has 2 fans, plus the power supply fan, but the temperature gauge is showing its hot inside the case. When I turned it on last night it was at 80, this morning I'm pushing 93 and it keeps rising. I tried adding another fan last night but I couldn't get it to spin faster then 600RPMs.

Any suggestions?
 
I'd normally say something like make sure the fans are dust free, but ince they're new, i can't help you :)
 
I put two new fans in today and it's a lot better now, the case temperature is now down to 83 degrees F. So I'm good to go.
 
Thats a reading from the case right? Right now mine is running 80 degrees at the case and 125 at the cpu which is right around normal.

93F is pretty good temps (33C). Well, providing thats your CPU temp and not system temp.

I don't know of any freely available programs which monitor temps, maybe do a google search for CPU Temperature Monitor Program or something along those lines.

I use ASUSProbe, which is software that came with my motherboard.
 
My northbridge runs pretty damn hot right now with the new vantec fan I installed. I think it's not seated properly. Either way, it'll be replaced with a passive Zalman heat sink soon which will mean at least 1/3 less noise and about as good as stock northbridge cooling on mine :D
 
would 120-130 degrees on the CPU be bad?

im using a majorly upgraded compaq (yeah..i know, i know) sr1150nx.
AMD athalon XP 3200.
sometimes, like, after playing massive amounts of halo, ill quit the game, get a really, really quick BSOD, and it just reboots...
is that becase of overheating?

If that's under stress, you're more than safe. If that's an idle temperature, that's pretty hot. More than likely, your heat sink isn't seated properly.

oh wait, it's an amd xp, not a 64... those ran a bit warm at one time, but the later models ran very nice temps... Still a seems bit hot... but my AMD XP 1900+ on the way too hot Palomino core ran an average 48c...
 
90% of BSODs on windows xp occur due to driver conflicts. Update your video, sound, and whatever other drivers you may have. The problem should go away

Is there any way to check temps on a Dell? MMB and Speed Fan didn't work.

Well, you need to know the model of the motherboard to get it to function correctly.
 
well, i got Motherboard Monitor, and, its saying that the socket is a 72 degrees celsius, and that the CPU diode is at -1 degree celsius. so, im really not worried about it anymore, but, thanks for the help guys.
