I love understeer. Oversteer annoys me.

I drive 4WD, not FWD.

Also, I drive faster when understeering.

I despise understeering. My preferred driving style is to brake early and accelerate early coming out of a turn. With understeer you can't do that. For the longest time I could not figure what I was doing wrong in tuning my cars because they all understeered horribly. Luckily I found a website that explained what each tuning option does and now every single one of my cars I drive on a regular basis performs exactly how I want them to.

I like oversteer.

As i can control with less throttle and countersteering.
Understeering is annoying when you are tring for fast laps and you plow into the wall.

Normaly I prefer Oversteer (voted for that), but when I drive some MR Racing-Cars (FGT, F10 or LMP-/Group C Cars) I do tune them to have slightly Understeer.
I do that with decreasing front Downforce and stiffen the front springs a bit. It works fine for me.

When I drive FF´s I´m aware of the Understeer they naturally posses (except the Trial Celica) => I don´t complain when it occurs :D

Understeer - need to brake with the rear wheels to solve the problem. Hanbrake is an emergy solution very effective (must be soft on it). Setting the brake bias with with a x/x+y, being y>0/\10>y is how you should tune your car (oversteers early to allow you to start accelarating early on the exit). More weight at the back, less at front or messing with suspension (stiffer at the rear soft at front). Even putting more weight at front will help. In a AWD you can also increase the torque at the rear wheels instead of using the previous solutions. Using different tires is another solution, but it isn't much of an advantage in racing in gt5, just for fun. Increase downforce at front and take it at the back. Many times you just need to use some of the tecniques, depending on the case when understeer occurs when chosing them.

Oversteer - Voted for this. Yeah its much more fun to balance between throtle and countsteering when the car is sliding. It improves techique that can used when drifting or rallying and is stylish. Although it can waste more tires in an FRcar (in MR and RR there have more weight on the back (relatively), so less oversteering, ceteris paribus). An easy way to avoid is to shift up before the time it starts to oversteer. to tune it: stiffer suspension at the front (not a very good solution in some cases) and making it softer at back, seting more weight at the back also help. More downforce at the back and brake bias stronger to the front. In 4wd you can also set the torque distributer higher to the front. Can also race with different tires but is the same as stated above, IRL you can also decrease tire pressure (see dragcars). Many times you just need to use some of the tecniques, depending on the case when understeer occurs when chosing them.

usually a hint of oversteer for FR cars, MR cars though understeer (really neutral) as with low tires they're a handful when they start oversteering.

Understeer is useless, just makes you slower. At least oversteer is correctable without losing too much pace, plus it's far funner having oversteer than understeer. Only noobs that can't control cars like understeer ;)

Oversteer. I like the ability to throw the back end around on hairpins and much rather use throttle control to help this than deal with understeer

Oversteer because i don't really know how to drift and oversteer is the beginning of the drift formula so it can help me learn.

Understeer is just...:yuck:

In most cases, I like to have a little bit of oversteer in the car. It's more manageable, more rewarding for controlling it, and in most cases, the lap times will be better for it.

I will say that understeer isn't necessarily bad in certain cases, though. For example, in endurance races, having to continually counter-steer and manage the throttle will wear out the driver a lot more than simply slowing down more in corners to deal with a push condition.

Oversteer because you can just turn a bit less and it'll turn normally. Understeer is just depressing, watching yourself going slower and slower round a corner a dumping it in the wall

i prefer understeer. you can compensate by adjusting your driving line before you enter a corner. oversteer is, for me, harder to adjust to and usually ends up in a spin if you're a bit careless.

Well theres a difference between understeer and taking a corner too fast.....

Theres also a difference between and oversteery nature(take the car to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca) and Throttle Oversteer....

Yes, agree fully.

Oversteer, it's fun and you can control it with some opposite lock. Understeer often sends me straight into the sand/barrier/etc, and I hate because if I want the car to go one way it had better do it.

I try and get a decent balance, but I prefer oversteer. What can I say, I'm addicted to smoking

Not so off topic... being a longtime rally fan (my first true moto-passion), I keep a 'Scandinavian Flick' card in my deck at all times. If you take a few laps to feel the car, it can be done with just about anything. Great way to kill time up front, and/or when driving hard chasing the leaders. Do it efficient enough & in the right corners, and you'll gain some time each circuit too.

Under steer is the most horrible feeling I get when driving a car. I hate the feeling that you get when you turn the wheel and you keep going straight.

Over-steer + Car = FUN :)

Over steer..to a degree. A car should be balanced enough in time based racing to have just a tad of over steer (loose) to Neutral in my opinion.

I think under steer blows and is useless. I hate FWD and AWD drive trains. In real life I very much prefer my MR drive train the best!
