I too, prefer oversteer. What follows is how I feel about it...

Oversteer: Wow I came into this corner too fast, I guess I'll have to slide around this corner, which may not be fast, but it sure is fun! This car rocks, and that was completely my fault.

Understeer: Wow I came into this corner too fast, If I don't slow down a lot I'll go off the road...and go even slower. Damn you car! Why won't you do what I tell you to do!?!?

I prefer a little oversteer. So much so that even when driving a FWD, I'll use a lower grade tire in the rear. Obviously with RWD & 4WD it's much easier to induce oversteer.

I'd say most people would prefer oversteer. You can always correct oversteer. You cant really correct understeer. Of the two I prefer oversteer but I don't really enjoy it. I set up most of my cars to have a solid 5 degree or less slip angle so I get optimum grip and weight balance.

Actually you can correct understeer. Just corner slowly and if your car is understeering while you are cornering hit the brakes!!!! Also, use 7 senstivity and use full lock when cornering!!! Am I right?

Yes. Oversteer FTW. Do you like countersteering?

Countersteering, once you get the hang of it, feels awesome. I didn't really get too good at it until I tried different cars on the drifting trials.

With the right car, like a Shelby Cobra with sport tires, counter-steering while whipping around corners never gets old.

I guess that would be one way to correct it. Probably not any faster though. "Any car that understeers is a car that isn't fit for proper driving" - David Hobbs. A quote he told me personally when I was eating dinner with him. I'd say he probably knows better than both of us.

There are more understeer votes then I had expected. I was thinking maybe 20 people would vote for it by now.

I would say an understeering car is unfit for racing, not driving because most street cars are made to understeer because apparantly it's safer.

Oversteer, as you can change your driving accordingly to limit it or use it.
Understeer, generally means your going to fast and have to slow it down.

Yes. Understeer sucks. But sadly most street cars are understeerers so we have to drive understeerers in real life. It will be cool (but unsafe) if street cars were oversteerers.

dhandes

Exactly, The reason everyone complains of understeer is because thay overshoot the corner for the given grip, a car does not turn well (if at all) when the brakes are applied, the key is to let the car roll through the corner giving it a chance to settle the suspension. No sim can (except maybe a couple thousand dollar full motion sim) simulate a person's strength, a peron would not be likely to last like they would in gt5 or any othervideo game for that matter, dive bombing the corners like most people

Edit: fixed typo

The reason everyone complains of oversteer? Look at the poll dude. Are you feeling alright? Don't you mean understeer?

I think he meant understeer.

Oh. Ok. But you are still wrong. You said EVERYONE complains of understeer. This is not true.

Be careful, of accusing people of being wrong, its an opinion, if it differs from yours doesn't make it wrong or right.
:)

As the vote shows, a lot of people prefer Oversteer, implying a lot of people don't like understeer.

It's not an opinion. It's a fact (the poll shows this). Some people prefer understeer. This is true, which is why I said he is wrong. Can you please explain what I said wrong?

When someone says everyone, they don't necessarily mean EVERYONE. It's a figure of speech.

Also I don't really need a pm sent, telling me to reply, thank-you very much.

I wasn't trying to start a war. Just calm down. I'm sorry. It's not the end of the world. I was just telling the truth.

I've added one word, which changes the context from everyone in the whole world, to everyone that complains of understeer. It's the telling someone is wrong part that annoyed me! All friends now though!👍

Well he didn't write "who" so he is wrong....

Ok, then. In that original post he mistakenly stated oversteer and you jumped down his throat.

thanks for adding the word but seriously you shouldn't take everything so literally
