Does anyone else find the load times between races, at initial boot-up of the game and when entering the Special Races section, etc., painfully slow and frustrating?

I've loaded the data onto the gard disc as the game suggested but still find myself tapping my fingers and stamping my feet at numerous occasions thoughout the game.

Maybe I need a chill-pill?!

I swear my load up times are getting worse. From the initial game boot to doing a race is long, long time.

the race loading screens are normal to me, but the constant GT logo at every menu you navigate through is seriously annoying as ****. Hope they fix that at least some day.

It takes about 15-30 seconds for me to load a race, no longer than that.

How long does it take for all of you guys?

The boot-up loading is long for me as well -- around 2-5 minutes until it is done :grumpy: PD could've at least add some cool tips and/or information about the game, the cars, etc, like a short summary on Nordschleife or a random car description, something that can make the loading a bit more fun.

Almost constant X-button pushing from PS3 menu to usable GTLife menu;
1 min 22 secs

Seemed like a lot longer! lol

I find all the loading screens much too long... I keep dreaming that there would be a way to upgrade the ram on the PS3.

I seriously thing to buy an SSD, if i bought the PS3 for GT5, buy an SSD for PS3 for GT5 sound beliveable...

I recently had my ps3 die and I cant remember specific symptoms before it actually went out but I do remember thinking within the last 2 weeks that I thought my load times were increasing. Hope its not your ps3 going out. I cant even swear that my load times were increasing but looking back they may have actually been.

Sorry to hear that. Please tell me it wasn't making a clicking noise before it died?!!?!

Ugh.... yup, intermittent, irregular, loud clicking. :nervous:

Honestly im not trying to scare you but that is exactly what it was doing. At first I thought nothing of these things but hind site is 20/20. Hope all is well with your system. Back up your saves my friend.

I have plenty of backups but I'm still going to take it back at 11 months, whether it's dead or not.

I think its definately worth a call to Sony at a minimum to get it serviced before the year warranty goes out. Mine did these things we spoke of for a few weeks before crapping out on me.

No wonder, that's a lotta lotta data!!

Yup it's a lot of data. Warning to all: Do not read the news or go into the museum as it bloats your save file.

The update is supposed to fix these large files so I am hoping for some positive changes to the load times.

I looked at the museum about a week ago and my save file grew from 500kb to 1200kb.

But it hasn't affected my load times too much though. To be honest I don't think the load times are that bad.

Loading the UCD, seeing a car in the UCD, wondering if I already own it, exiting UCD, loading... loading... checking my garage... loading the UCD again. Buying the car... loading... loading... seing the car... loading loading... Going into the UCD again... loading loading... etc

If I have the PS3's online capabilities switched on, some of the load times are unbelieveably bad. But in weird places - like coming out of GT Auto: it's a few seconds with online switched off, enough time to go and make a cup of tea with online switched on.

I don't mind about the load times, I think about what it has to load, and just sit back, have a Drink and listen to the menu music. Don't let it bother you.

Most of the times it is loading some static menus with barely any real content. I don't know what else it is doing, but the load times are truly inexcusable.

Especially since they go out of their way to confront you with useless extra dialogs that require your confirmation...

"Upgrade installed successfully"
"While saving, do not switch off the power blabla..."
"Are you sure you want to use this ticket?"
(but when you accidentally restart an endurance race 20 hours in, it doesn't ask for your confirmation :ouch:)

As a professional interaction designer I can tell you that GT5, as good as it is, is an example of bad UI design all over the place. It hampers the workflow in such a bad way that I can hardly believe they actually tested the game with real humans.
