Sadly PD has brought the paint chips system on from GT5. However it seems that you don't loose your paint chip when using it, so you don't have to buy **** cars just for additional paint, and I assume you don't have a paint chip list with 234782 duplicates you'll never use.

But is it possible to buy paint chips separately without buying a car? I seem to remember a screenshot where a load of paint names were listed and there were prices for each paint. Or would this be the cost of repainting the car?

Just speculating, but from that screenshot I assume it's the cost of painting the car. Also, by having each chip with a price next to it makes me think that some paints might cost more than others.

There are free paint chips in the 15th anniversary edition for sure. I like the idea of only ever needing to receive a chip once. I've been bouncing off the 7000 item limit for a while due to the 10 chip login bonus.

I've already asked this question before but the answer I got left me a bit confused, so I'll post again of this appropriate thread:

How many paint chips do you get when you buy a car, only one color or all the colors for that car become available in the shop?

only the colour you buy it in is available as a paint chip after you buy it.

They really like making life difficult for collectors, don't they? Having to buy a whole new car and spend hundreds of thousands if not millions of credits, just to get a new coating of paint, didn't make sense in GT5 and it continues not making sense in GT6. At the very least, they allow paint chips to be reusable.

Nonsensical way of handling car paint.

Oh, you want to paint your car Midnight blue? You have to buy another midnight blue car first.
You only have to buy a car in the colour you want once and you'll have the paint chip forever.

What he said.
Some of the gameplay videos that show car purchasing will prove this; when you buy the car the game tells you that you now own the colour you bought the car in permanently, and so to paint another car with that colour costs money (from what I've seen about Cr.1000-3000, but don't quote me).

Well at least they stay with you this go around. Can you at least preview paints on the car instead of seeing it on a small "icon" before you waste 1,000-3,000 credits?

Yes, you can preview all cosmetic changes now. That goes for paint, aero parts and rims.

When you've enough cars i don't see a problem here. Maybe we'll win paint-chips too.

It's an improvement for sure, especially that your paint shed had one bucket of signal red and one bucket og pearl white, and not 134 signal red and 195 pearl white, which you have to trwal through to find the topaz blue.

And preview of paint is excellent.

But still. Paint Chips. *shakes head*

I think I see what gambleboyen is saying. Say you buy a particular car that comes in many colors, but later you want to repaint it in another one of the colors that it was available in, you might not have any way of getting the paint chip you want without buying the car again.

It'd be nice if they put in some kind of "buy paint chip" option in the dealership, so you can buy different paints for a particular car without paying for another whole car.

Great idea.. not sure if it will happen.. to much common sense involved.

you only get the color you choose if the color has a name,,,,,,,in the gt6 stand most paints don't have names so you don'd get them
