"paint scheme"

I have a "paint scheme" that is LeMans Blue w/red and silver stripes. Yet whenever I apply it to a car, the car just turns out blue.
My question is, are "paint schemes" only for certain cars? And if so how do I identify the cars that the scheme can be applied to?

Well you get paint schemes from race cars but I never thought you got a chip of that certain paint if it was a race car paint scheme..
 
Well I have quite a few race cars but I never get the paint chip if it's a race car scheme so i'm not sure to be honest.

I have a paint that has the word LeMans, but not sure which one. I think it was green, but no stripes. And I don't think there's any certain car is able to come up w/ the stripes. They are some cars that came w/ stripes by default, like the Shelby Cobra, but not sure If it'll show up w/ the stripes when you paint it, though.
