Im thinking of upgrading, but I thought why not find out the opinions of gtp members. Right now I got a semi Tippman A-5. Anyone who paintballs or just thinks they have any idea about what im talking about, please leave a reply.

Yes,I got the extended barrel. I have had semi's since I started 5 years ago so I'm not really familiar with autos. I used one once and I just wasted like all by PB in like 10 minutes you dont relize how many you're shooting until there all gone.

If you got the cash I say get both or stick with what your familar with...What size bottles you got?

I dont really got the money. I was just going to sell my PB gun I got now and like get a little money and just upgrade, but I have been thinking about it for awhile. I got 9oz.

Well, first off, this should be in the hobbies forum, not the opinions forum.

And secondly, although I don't personally play paintball, I know some people who do, and I do have some knowledge of the sport, so here's my two cents. I'd suggest sticking with the gun you have now, and upgrading it (barrel, agitator, etc). Pumps have too low a rate of fire vs. semis, and autos are virtually useless since most fields ban them. The Tippman A-5 is not a bad marker, so I'd suggest sticking with it, especially since you sound like you don't have too much money available.

I really got all the upgrades I can get now on my A-5 ,and I know for a fact you can use autos in alot of compatetions.

I say get a Matrix and an Anderson board I think. Aftewr it's all modded that thing will shoot 36 bps (balls per second) and it's Semi.

P.s. If you wanna play speedball you cant use auto.

I want something that is a great sniper. I'm a pretty good shot, but I feel like the A-5 is holding me back from my true potential. Which is sniping people down at 400 feet.

400 feet sniping with paintballing? Is that possible?

If you plan on sniping go for a semi. As a full auto will give your place away too easily. Also if you can't afford to be constantly buying ammo you won't want an 'auto.

I dont know if it is possiable but i rock with my gun sniping, But does anyone got like a really really good sniper pb gun. Or know of one that is like the best you can get right now

I know this an old thread but alot of the information here is incorrect.
You cannot use automatic fire mode in any speedball according to most fields and NPPL, PSP, and NXL rules. These are governing bodies of the paintball world and have set standards for fire modes. Only the NXL rules (modified and updated just recently) have been changed to allow full auto in X-ball tournaments and capped at 15 balls per second @ 290fps rate.
To be able to shoot for 400 feet, impossible by any marker out there and won't ever happen. Even the flatline barrel system for the Tippman won't shoot accurately past the 150 foot distance.
Btw, I play and have a team, have done tournaments in three different states and am going to the Pro level in another couple of years with my team.
On the upgrading and with the way you play, get the flatline system of barrel for the Tippman and you'll be good for at least 100-150 foot shots.
Even in Scenario games, you're still limited to shooting as far as your marker can shoot and the Tippman by far is one of the best for the type of game play you do.
Hope this answers some of your questions and if it's not too late, good luck on your decision.

I really don't ever plan on playing in tournaments like big ones I mostly just play like at local PB places. They have tournaments but you only win about 350$ if you come in first. So i just play for a little extra cash in my pocket and for the fun if sniping little punks with bob longs that think since they have their momies credit card they aren't going to be smoked. I did go with the flatline system my friend mentioned it and I bought it

So how do you like the flatline setup?
I've heard it works pretty well.
Recball is cool too.
We too see so many that have parents that just spend on what their kids want.
They come with the latest equipment, jerseys, pants, and can't play whatsoever.
I usually play with my '98 Autococker when I play recball because I don't want to intimidate the young player or have such a rate of fire to scare ppl away.
Good luck in your paintball and keep playing. It's loads of fun and a game where anyone can play, no matter the sex, age, or where you came from. Not many sports can have that claim.

Great setup and lots of possibilities with upgrades when needed.
Keep playing and most of all, have fun.

150-300.
i would go with a smart parts ion.
they are 199.99 at actionvillage.com

they are the most durable and upgradable gun, they can shoot up to 17 BPS (ball per second) and have several modes and settings witha stock board.
also try pbnation.com and look in there forums for a decent begginer gun.
=)
