Painted this for my girlfriend (Her official Mustang color)

We have been looking for a while for my girlfriends official paint color for her 67 Mustang Coupe. After trying several orange colors we made our final decision on this House Of Kolor Sunset Pearl Orange.
With that said I decided to paint something to see what it would look like. So I chose my girlfriends welding helmet.
This is the first time I have ever painted flames. Enjoy.
I also experimented on an old hood I had laying around. These were just experiments. I didnt wet sand any of the clear coat. I just wanted to see how the color looked.










This is a junk hood that will never be used. I used sunset orange as the base. On one section I put orange pearl in the clear coat. On the other section I used silver pearl in the clear coat.

I can see 3 distinct colors on that hood maybe it is the lighting...
Which area has the orange and which has the silver? I prefer the darker shades...

The flames came out good, better than I could do but a bit uneven in places

Yes I painted the hood with 2 different pearls to as a test on an old hood.
The entire left side is just HOK pearl orange with just straight clear coat. On the right side upper half is HOK pearl orange base with silver in the clear coat. On the lower right hand corner is HOK base with orange pearl in the clear coat.
The helmet fades from HOK orange to orange pearl in the clear coat to silver in the clear coat giving it a slightly lighter effect toward the end. Impossible to see with the camera.

Yes this is the official paint color for her 67 Mustang. We bought a quart to mess with that way we knew for sure we would like it. Wouldnt want to buy 3 or 4 quarts at $70.00 each only to find out we dont like it. After spraying it we love it.

Yes she does have a welding helmet and she welds with it on occasion. She looks dang good doing it too. Keep in mind thats also her 67 Mustang and I am teaching her how to do everything on it.

Yes I already have my Camaro paint scheme picked out but I am trying to keep the official paint scheme confidential. The only part I have told anyone is that it will have 2005 SRT viper silver or 2006. Thats all I will say for now.

It is the old hood that came off of my 69 Camaro. Has rust holes and its all screwed up so I replaced it about 2 years ago with a fiberglass Glassteck hood.

Finding a cute or hot girl to do any of this is almost impossible no matter where you live.
My girlfriend wasnt really into cars when I met her. She liked cars just didnt understand them. Then after riding in my Camaro and attending the Hot Rod Power tour with me last year,Woodward 2 years in a row and most of the car shows around, she couldnt help but fall in love with the wonderful world of muscle cars. She wanted a fastback 67 but we couldnt afford one so we got a 67 coupe to work on. Its extremely rough which is perfect for a learning experience.
My car gets a lot of attention everywhere I go and like any girl she loves the attention.
Summer of 2006 is going to be really fun!

Yes I agree there are very few women/girls that drive well. No offense to anyone. My girlfriend drives well she just drives too slow. Tonight will be the first time she gets to DRIVE the Mustang. We have been working on the floors and she finished welding and seam sealing over the weekend so we should be all set. Just need to weld in the seat platforms then bolt the seats in. I drove it up and down the driveway before we cut the floors out. So should be an exciting night for her to actually drive at least around the block.
