I searched for info on this but couldn't find anything, forgive me if there is already a thread about this.

After buying a hideous green Camaro LM Race Car from the OCD, I took it to GT Auto for an oil change, and clicked on the 'paint car' icon, even though I was 99.9% sure it wouldn't let me, and to my complete surprise, I was able to paint it. I didn't think this was possible with any of the standard LM race cars, does anyone know of other race cars that this is possible with??

I was surprised when I discovered that the Zonda R was paintable. 👍

I think it's only available for certian cars that come in multiple colors in GT5... The Camaro comes in several colors.

Too vague. Lots of cars come in multiple colors but are still not paintable (see: X2010). There are lists of all those cars on GTP somewhere, you can search for it if you want.

I had no idea. Thanks for the info. Now I might just repaint it something more aesthetically pleasing.

I got mine in green. Bleh.

Just remember that when you paint the Camaro the entire car is painted that color, and the pattern that was on it where the white paint was will be gone. I personally prefer it this way.

My Camaro is Matte Black. It looks great and you can still see the sponsors (they are a glossy black so faintly show up).

More paintable cars that retain their stickers here

I found it looked better in the silver, as the gold showed up all the shockingly bad definition of the car and stickers. I tried a few colours and this was the best, although I have another one in Chameleon Orange which also looks great! (I think the rule of thumb on this particular car is to keep the colour rich, but light)

I wish painting the Camaro LM only painted the top half, like it comes. It looks a little silly with the entire thing one color.

Indeed. The intended design of this Camaro definately has a general rule. Light stickers to contrast with dark background, and dark stickers with white background.

Still, stated in previous posts, some colors actually work well (Such as Orange). The Silver Chrome paint also works quite brilliant with the stickers. 👍
