PAL release of a Kaido Battle game in EU + AU

OK only had a few hours to play on it, basically it is KR2 with english (in my case) throughout.

You can still see all the Chain Reaction banners all over the tracks.

From what I have seen so far the car list I posted previously looks good, as for the game itself, its great fun. Nice arcade gameplay with a sim feel to it (like PGR2), quick easy to get good drifts going once the car has been modded up a bit (in my case I started with an AE86 - predictable I know).

The e-mails and BBS which are now in english appear to have been translated directly, which has some quite silly results. In a slightly drunked/altered state they are sometimes very funny, but not worth buying the game again if you already have KB2 (in my opinion anyway).

Having never played one of the series before I have to say I am impressed by the game, looks good, sounds are good by PS2 standards, great range of cars and the tracks are wonderful. With some very nice touches, such as the falling leaves and good lighting effects.

Its not in GT4s class as far as handling goes (but its not meant to be), or graphically, but its not far short.

Overall great fun so far and should keep me busy for a while.

Will post back more when I can, in the meantime if anyone has any specific questions (and I can answer them) just let me know.

My only fear for a EU/AU release of any more of the series is the very low key nature of the release, very few people had a clue what I was on about when I checked to ask about its release. Which could prove to be a big shame, if KB3 is a lot better that this, then it deserves a release.

did they keep the music in the intro?

o and by the way,if anyone whats the a clip of the game,just go were it says takumi,s 86.
 
Thanks for the link, and yes as has been said the intro music is the same.

The coversion seems to have had the bare minimum done to get it released, all the prices for example are of the nature normally seen in Japanese games, i.e. all the starting cars cost around 2 million cr.

Still damn good fun.

Got a review version yesterday and only thing that dissapoints is a DFP support. Game has no true force feedback - dead-zone is gigantic and ff effect comes from vibration-effect. Turning off the vibration will kill all the forces inside the wheel.

Other elements are there - original music, 180 000 starting credits, cars, tracks, great menus, and music editor.

Much fun for very limited base of fans.
 
Been playing this for a couple of hours now, and I can say its pretty fun. I love Initial D so this is mega cool. Few issues though, i.e. its still hard to progress as the money is really slow in coming, the handbrake is a big no-no and my tranny is being weird. Plus some of the competitors are wildly faster than me. hmm I need a faster car, my 85 still is only pushing out 110bhp......
Oh yeah and the BBS and mail thing is completely pointless but quite funny
 
Does anyone know if this game has been released anywhere else in Europe except the UK?

It does not appear to have been released in Sweden yet, I've checked the net and asked around in my local stores but nobody has even heard about it.
 
yeah ... it is very similar to Tokyo Extreme Racer series
you can also put some sponsor stickers on your car as well
when you go to some events in daytime
sponsor companies will give you money for advertisement
 
Its loads better than the TXR I played (Zero). Its way more varied too, TXR really was boring.
Can anybody help though, Im stuck on Hakone, I cant defeat the 350z he's way toooo hard for my 86 fully maxed out. Also can't get the required 75,000 points on the Nissan Cup because there are only FF Nissans to choose from. This game is great but so annoying at the same time.

It has various language options at the start of the game (not Swedish - big surprise) so I would assume a full European/PAL release.

Then again I found it difficult enough to get in the UK.

Thanks for the info Scaff. If there are other languages than english it would seem likely that there will be a Europe wide release.

But I think I'm going to order it from the UK anyway, dont want to wait several weeks just to get a copy with a manual translated.
 
After failing to secure a copy after visiting several stores, I decided to order it at the local EB .. anyway a week or so later I finally got it!

loving it bigtime, just wish I could get some more playtime down..
