I did a search (even on Google), but didn't come up with anything specific. I'm looking a for a patch/fix to convert a PAL PS2 game to NTSC, in order to avoid the dreaded black and white syndrome of playing PAL games on NTSC TV's...

Thanks :)

You want to convert the game or the TV signal? I don't think you can "convert a game" - you have to use a mod chip in the console.

I remember using Japanese and US games on my PS 1 and having the same black and white problem. I think it was due to my tv being 50 hz. Is your tv 50 or 60 hz?

Well I'm not sure what will happen, I don't even have the game yet. What I wanted to know, essentially, is that will I need anything extra in order to play Prologue and the BMW demo with a Swap Magic disc? My TV is fairly new, got it in 2002, made by Toshiba:
20-Inch Colour FST Pure™ Television 20AF44

So I'm just not sure what will happen, if it will display the games properly or not (I've never used Swap Magic or even an import game on my PS2 yet). I would test it out, of course, but I don't have the games in my possession as of yet...

EDIT: After doing some further research, I have come up with a question:
Is it only when playing NTSC games on PAL units that it gives the black and white problem? Perhaps that is that I read, and assumed it would happen when playing PAL games on NTSC units... *confuzzled* :scared:

As I understand it, it works like that both ways. While a swap-disc or modchip can alter the game's framerate from 50-60 or vice versa, it can't alter the actual color information.. NTSC and PAL handle color very differently, and they simply can't be swapped back and forth. Hence the black & white image, since the only thing it can get across cleanly is the luminance channel. The only way around it that I can think of is by using component RGB cables into an HDTV, since those actually break the signal down into it's individual pieces. Otherwise, you're just stuck with it for the BMW demo.

For Prologue, however, or the new demo that new just came out, you can get the Japanese version, which is already NTSC.

Whoa, whoa, WHOA? There's ANOTHER new demo out?

Anyways, I have Monster Cable component video cables, so I guess I'm okay?

Hmm,i don't know.It doesn't say anything about converting signals.I bought a RGB cable and it works fine. There is a switch on it that lets you switch to NTSC or PAL signal.Perfect for import games.

what about connecting my ps2 to a computer monitor, cause the scart cables and the RGB cable can not be connected to my TV. i do not have a slot for it on my NTSC TV.
