Yes, yes, this is the right forum to post this :D

Downforce1, a racing team created and owned by Pamela Anderson, will enter an Aston Martin in the ... wait for it ... ELMS!

And she ...

... will go trackside and be close by all the racing events she can to see her team winning and give personal support during the racing season.

I bet the fans will love this.

The reactions on twitter are hilarious:

Marcel ten Caat ‏ @dsceuroeditor
@AMR_Teams @lindsaymorle @johndagys Great Chemistry, glad they didn't put in "Markus Fux Pamela Anderson" as a caption somewhere.

John Dagys ‏ @johndagys
@dsceuroeditor @AMR_Teams @lindsaymorle Jesus. This sounds like a huge joke! LOL

And this picture of the team principal, with a Saleen wreck, is ... interesting and very professional.

Why?

And also why have PLM got this on their front page and not the Sebring practice times?

Well according to the same article, she's also putting together a Nascar team for 2013........yeah.

Oh and those tweets are great.

Deltawing just got a rival for joke of the year.

Where's the wreck? Looks more like they're building it up to their own level....

I think this is just getting a lot of "hate" because of Pam's name. Should at least give her a chance.

A lot of hate because of her name? No, sorry, it's not her name, check the welcoming message, and browse the team's site

EDIT - Apparently the welcoming message isn't a part of the picture, so I replaced the picture with the link to the site

I stand by what I said. There's nothing but jokes because Pamela Anderson's name attached to the team. If this was some doofus like Steve Carrell or Jim Carrey, there'd be more support/expectation from others. Best to wait & see how the team actually does first before counting them out.

Oh come on,

"My professional racing boys" ????

Just proving my point further.

Did you even read your article, anyway? Nothing on it hints it'll be different from any other racing team out there, just this one is owned by a celebrity.

Team will be short lived.

More team principals should pose beside obsolete gutted race cars.

Ok, I found who they really are, or were. Atlas eFX-Team. If you google a bit you'll find all you need to know.

And that Saleen was indeed wrecked. In 2010. Apparently that was the end for them. Until now.

It's a bit like Paris Hilton sponsoring BQR-Blusens' 125cc team in MotoGP last year; it was dubbed "VIP Supermarxe by Paris Hilton".

At least they had the sense to get Maverick Vinales.

This reminds me of Paris Hilton's 125cc team.....
EDIT: Tree'd

Player haters. at least she has the money to put a car on track. who cares about whether or not she competes, more cars on the grid is always good. for my buck Pam Anderson and racecars are both good things even if they dont go hand in hand. but the marketing approach alone should be worth a second look.

Maybe it will open the eyes of the ignorance of Hollywood to racing.

This could well turn out to be a farce. I havent seen the Aston Martin Endurance GTE/GT2 car be successful from the factory, much less a privateer which is owned by an Actress.

It doesn't matter if a team is owned by an actress, a comedian or anyone else for that matter.

As long as the finance is in place, and good people are running the team, then with good drivers, you can expect the usual sort of results your car will allow.

The only questions I have are why ELMS and why Aston Martin?

I really hope I'm not the only one who saw the thread title in a different way :odd:

Anyways, more cars on track = better.

Simple. It's an European (Austrian) jobless driver, an European (Austrian) team stopped since Hungaroring 2010 by lack of funds (and credibility I'd say), and Pam's money making all them europeans happy.

I guess she's a grown up girl, should be able to take care her of herself and of the money she has.

Teams run by "celebrities" never do well. Look at Newman-Haas or Dempsey racing...

Oh, wait a minute...

Give them a chance, guys.

Reminds me of Paris Hilton's Moto GP team

Even more bizarre than the Atomic Kitten BTCC team!

Lovely. Now racing events can be ruined by PETA supporters complaining about something stupid. Wouldn't auto racing be kinda...anti-PETA, though? And that livery is rather stupid..as is the team name. I would much rather NOT look at Pam Anderson during a race. Maybe that's just me...but, yeah. I'm not a Pam Anderson fan.

And Paris Hilton looks like she's 50 in those photos.

But as to why Aston...It's a celebrity and it's not like she can race a Hummer or Prius. And a Lambo or Ferrari just isn't Pam's style. Aston Martin fits her better. As to why ELMS? Maybe that was the only series that agreed to have her, not knowing who she was...who really knows.

I think you're just ranting because you feel like it, regardless of whether or not it has any relevance.
