Hey,
im looking for what is the best graphics card under £50??
any ideas im stumped dont even know if my pc will run pci express or not i assume it would but just checking before i go spending
thanks.

Kind of need to know if it's PCI-e or AGP, or old school PCI. Please tell me there isn't a ISA slot in there.....

something around a 9600GT is good. I wouldn't go lower in power than that. What cpu/mobo/ram do you have?

im sure you could find an 8800 GS for under 50euros by now. but i wouldnt go with a 9000 class card. if i remember reading correctly most of that class is about as powerfull as the low end 8000 class cards.

You didn't read correctly.

then why do the tables show that the most powerful 9800 still has lower Frame rate the the most powerful 8800?

OH MY GOD. I totally forgot that the 8800 Ultra was a low-end 8000 series card.

And why only post one benchmark? Here are some others from the same article.

And then consider for the price of an 8800 Ultra, you can buy TWO 9800GTX's.

best bang for your buck would have to be a 8800GT G92 512mb? surely? though not sure if its cheaper than the 9600GT or not, but im sure its a better card.

im sorry where in my LAST post comparing the 2 did i say the 8800 ultra and the 9800 GTX that the 8800 ultra was a low end? oh thats right i didnt. my first post said something about low end but the last post i didnt so dont put any words in my mouth its not nice.

but as for the others i put the FSX one up because that is by far the most demanding game on frame rate. if the 8800 is showing better results on that its seems to be the better card IMO.

thanks for the comments i have pci radeon 9250 128mb ill try and find out the rest at later
im looking for one that will run fsx smoothly and at a decent to good quality

G92>G94 Indeed

Spend a little extra for and 8800GT, it will last you for a while.

What resolution are you going to be gaming at? AA'ing?

yeah, the 8800gt might be around the same price as a 9600gt right now. I just got an ATi 4850 for my main pc in july and a 9600gt for another pc.

You called most of the class as powerful as low end 8000 Class cards, then posted the 9800GTX against a twice+ the price 8800 Ultra. In one benchmark.

In every benchmark I posted the 9800GTX beat the 8800GT, and the 8800GTX, and even the 8800 Ultra in 2 benchmarks.

While I'm not saying the 9000 is better bang-for-your-buck, but it's performance is at the very least equal with the equivilent 8000, and in many cases out performs it.

In your FSX benchmark, it obviously isn't optomised for twin GPU/SLI set-ups like the 9800 GX2, so then it will only perform around a 8800GT, in 3D Mark 06, the 9800 GX2 beats the 8800ULTRA with ease.

For the money you can not go wrong with the 8800GT. I have one and it's excellent, so excellent in fact I'm thinking about getting another one for an SLI set up. The only draw back to the card is it's huge, it took some searching to find one that fit with my previous mobo.
