I am not sure if there has been a thread like this for Simracers, I did a quick search and found nothing (if I am double posting, sorry). With that being said, I would like this thread to apply to each and every PC Racing Sim available: iRacing, GTR2, GTR: Evolution, rFactor, Live For Speed, etc. I guess in a way this could simply be an all-embracing favorite Track thread since most of these games (with the exception of LFS) feature real world Tracks. There are those Mod teams which will periodically pop out impressive and challenging "Fantasy" tracks, and at times some of them appear to be better looking than a some Real World tracks. Those should be included here as well if you feel that one is a great addition.

What tracks, for which Sim, are fun/good enough to make your list? And if you feel feisty why not give us a few comments on your favorites and least favorites. My list falls into a few categories and organized by the Sim (relax, there are only two that I play consistently) going from "least" favorite to those that I like best.

Start your engines...

3. Snetterton

- I know some people are thinking "Snetterton, really?" But Snetterton, to me, is one of the best tracks to not only test on, but to also do Hotlaps and host races. I wrote up a track guide on Snetterton for rFactor in particular for the SimRaceway Hotlap server, so if anyone is interested PM me and I will send it your way.

2. Spa Francorchamps

1. Laguna Seca

- Laguna Seca is probably my favorite not only in rFactor, but also my favorite track in real life. I've seen a few races there and have always enjoyed myself and love the layout.

(I will probably get around to talking about each track in detail (hoping some others will do the same), and maybe we could all talk about some set-ups for each of our track selections and maybe we can share some "Turn by Turn" guides with each other in the future. I was also going to talk about the LFS track "Blackwood" when I'm not at work. And wanted to add some "least favorite Tracks".)

In rFactor, I love the Albert Park circuit, Interlagos, Spa, Imola, and when I'm bored, Monza.

Albert Park:

Coming into turn one/two, basically what you need is to prioritise exit speed, so bring the car down to third gear, miss the apex a fraction, because it is bumpy, and accelerate hard down to three/four. Big stop here, a bit of brake balance adjustment may be required, down to second gear, easy to lock the right front. Bring the car round to four, simply a lift off the throttle, maybe a short shift to maximise grip into five, which needs a slight lift and early turn in. Six/seven are incredible fun, get it right in thrid and you blast out, get it wrong and you're pretty screwed. Turn eight is a flat right hander, leading into the braking zone for nine/ten. Brake hard, again down to second, third for traction, but take a lot of kerb to maximise speed. 11/12-what a chicane. 150mph exit, 170 entry, real reliance on the aero setup, but take it easy on the exit-there isn't much kerb to keep you on the stright and narrow. Turn 13 is a toughie, you want to do it in second, but you have to do it in third, bring the car down from 180-190mph to about 100, lots of G forces. Turn 14, slight tap of the brakes, maybe a downshift, turn the car in early. Turn 15, right down to first, hairpin. Turn 16, final corner-exit is so crucial for the best pace down the main straight.

I'll have my breath back thanks.

Interlagos:

Coming into Senna S at 200mph, you can brake really late here-good overtaking spot. Down to second for the left hander, accelerate to third for the right, and then hard on the throttle through the second left. Again approaching 200mph as you reach turn 4 bring the car down to high third, turn in early, and keep a fairly defensive line-you want the inside for 5. Fast right hander, down to fifth or fourth, depending on setup, and as you approach the second apex, drop a little more speed, and maybe a gear. Accelerate momentarily for the first hairpin, second gear, easy to lock your front right due to the camber change. Be very tentative on the throttle as you hit six, bumpy and very easy to overpower the rears. You should be up to about fifth by the second hairpin-bring her back down to second turn in, and be aggressive with your line. The next left-hander should be full-throttle, if it isn't, you screwed up or you have a bad setup. Either way, the kerb will cause you to oversteer and lose time, so hug, but don't touch. The final true corner-left hander, second for taller gears, third for shorter, but you need to prioritise exit speed over anything else for the long pit straight, which is preceded by some easy left-handers.

Mas Du Clos is so much fun - I've played it on GTR Evolution but it can be had for R-Factor. Really nice flowing track with elevation changes

Good read, thanks man. 👍

I am glad someone has already started a "track guide" this early in the thread. I'm hoping other people share there turn-by-turn guides.

Of course the classics such as Spa, Suzuka, Nordschleife, Fuji, Brands Hatch, etc.

I've really been playing Road Atlanta and Oulton Park a lot recently, and I'd have to say they are my current favourites.

All in GTR2.

It's so quick and easy to add more tracks, I've almost got too many tracks that I need to get around to playing, not enough time!

Not ventured much outside of British tracks on rFactor. Donnington Park is fun. Very quick circuit, momentum track that separates the best from the rest. Just about to start a Porsche Supercup and Sebring is one of the tracks iirc, Bahrain up first.

On rFactor for me it would have to be the track getting knocked down as we speak, Oran Park Raceway in Australia. Such a great race track, but not only that, they got the elevations and apexes so right with the laser scanning they did before it was gone. So it's great that we have such a realistic version of how the track was before it was gone. So for me Oran Park LiDAR is my favourite track.

Nice video! I love those V8 Super's. I haven't seen any Oran Park races besides the Touring Car race which was posted on here (edit: I just noticed it was posted by you) :dunce:. I'm downloading the track right now to fly around in with the little trainer.

It looks like Oran won the #1 position for "Mod of the Year: Tracks".

Wow, well I think it deserves it personally. I know for a fact that it is almost as accurate as can be to real life.

Actually visited Oran Park today.... One of the saddest moments in my entire life. There is almost nothing left, Grandstands are now gone as well, they consist of rubble on top of the last corner hill....:(

Was that a ole position lap? It doesn't seem very tidy-especially after the bridge.

Somebody needs to make Phillip Island for rFactor.

Another circuit I really like is Sepang:

Coming down the long main straight towards turn 1-a massive stop here, incredibly easy to lock the right front, down to second. Ease on the throttle to turn two, but shift down to first-and be late on the throttle, very easy to run wide. Accelerate up to seventh for turn three, taken in thrid or second depending on setup, it's ideal to trail brake here. Turn four and five are fantastic-those cars with a lower downforce setting will have to lift through four, and touch the brakes for five, those with a high downforce setup should be able to take both flat. Turn 6/7 is brilliant fun-double apex, fourth gear-prioritise the second apex, as the exit is important in the run to 8. Turn 8 is a slow, off camber, second gear left hander which is very good for overpowering your rears, and care is advised with the throttle, especially if no tracton control is available. Turn 9 has a curved braking zone if a traditional racing line is taken-but because turning and braking is silly you should try and keep the car going straight under braking by lining it up properly. Turn 10, 11 and 12 are fun-flat through ten and eleven, but twelve is very similar to 9-however exit is so important here so you should not go defensive at all-if you get passed on the inside, good luck to them keeping up with you on the long straight that follows. A big stop follows a long straight-seventh to second, good overtaking spot, again prioritise exit speed for the long pit straight.

I'm never tired and bored to drive Nordschleife, any car! This track is like heroine! In GTR2 and rFactor.

*Heroin. Heroine is a female super hero. :sly:

I am tired of Nordschliefe, I race it on all console games and have been around it way too many times on rFactor. If I see anymore green I may puke. I feel the same way about Knockhill too. It was my favorite track for awhile (quick, challenging, good number of turns, narrow, etc) but now I can't get into it.

Hungaroring is good:

Coming down the main straight, you'll be pulling 290-300km/h depending on your setup. Braking down to second gear, easy to understeer on the exit of the first corner. Turn two is a 180 degree, 2nd gear corner, which is perfect for trail braking. Throttle late, as the rears can easily overpower, and turn 3 is a flat kink. Turn 4 is the most difficult corner-4th gear, down from 7th, blind apex. Turn five, third gear understeer haven, throw the car in to solve this. Short run up to the chicane-second gear, ake it so you can accelerate all the way through turn 6b. Turn 7 is third gear, use the outside kerbing on entry for maximum effect, turn 8 is compromised, and low third gear/high second. Turn 9 is flat, turn ten down 1 or two gears. Turn 11, hard braking down from sixth to second, easy to lock both fronts, very tight on the exit. Turn 12, come in in third, reach the apex, shift down to second and accelerate, watching the back end. Turn thirteen, final bend, prioritise exit for the long straight ahead, entry second, exit fourth.

Road One, Rattlesnake Point , Westwood Park , Vancouver 99 Indy Car track, The Ring, actually too many tracks i like. hard to pick a favorite.

iRacing is the only PC sim I've played recently, my favorite tracks are:
1) Lime Rock - I love the first turn with its tightening radius, coming out of the turn I use the right tree on the far hill as a reference point to pull out and line up for the next turn (left turn) and then I roll into it going outside-inside-inside so that I can take an outside-inside-outside line for the last turn in that section (right turn) and get a good exit onto the straight before the hill. Besides the massive satisfaction I get from executing those first few curves right, I really like the feedback I get from the track because there are a lot of bumps as well as the slabs where they did repairs.

1) Road Atlanta - I love the first turn up the hill because of the speed, then the esses down the hill and then back up which just flow and you can run them at high speeds. I just love this course because of the wonderful corners it has.

2) Watkins Glen - No really notable turns but I find the track flows nicely and I really like the rough road surfaces that provide nice FFB.

3) Laguna Seca - Awesome track in terms of the actual track the positions should be flipped with Watkins Glen, but I overplayed this track on console so I do not enjoy it as much anymore.

Don't want) Summit Point - Cannot put my finger on it, just do not like the track at all.

Iracing tracks:

ALL of them. The quality of the tracks just blows me away. I can never go back to "normal" tracks ever again lol.

But as far as driver tracks i have a few that i truly love.

Suzuka, not out yet but for me it´s probably the best drivers track in the world.
Spa, do i even need to mention Eau Rouge, Pouhon, Blanchimont? :)

Non Iracing tracks:

The green hell. It beats any other track in the world by a mile.

i would pay $100 for a laserscanned Nordschleife 24H track.

I find this as well. The iRacing tracks have so much more character with the bumps and surface changes modelled - it makes the driving so much more fun and boosts the immersion immensely. Tracks in other games seem horribly smooth and boring in comparison.

Back to the original question. Well, Spa is my favourite but I've driven it too much as it is in most games (but not GT5! :nervous:). Brands Hatch is awesome and as a bonus is my local real life track - the details of iRacing's replication are amazing. Finally, I love Watkins Glen - a great track with a nice variety of corners.

Why am I not surprised at this Madison?

I've recently downloaded this mod as well and have been having a blast. I have to admit however that the Bathurst & Nordschleife track mods are still my favorite.

Hahaha. Yeah.... No surprise really. :D Seriously awesome track, can't wait for the iRacing version.

But agreed, the ORSM Bathurst version is fantastic (so hard to get a clean lap down) and so is the Nordschleife versions. They're both also fantastic.

Lienz festival - Rfactor - This is basically a whole mountain of amazing roads, and a rally stage, one of the best locations i've ever driven.
Nordschleife - GT5 version is the best, i'm sorry.. no pc version is even close.
Spa - iRacing - Pure brilliance, i love this track and the iRacing version is by far the best.

I love all of the 1970 Tracks for Rf, and along with 67 Spa and the upcoming Targa Florio mod they go great with WSC1970.

On iracing I love Grand AM racing on Watkins Glen and the Lotus 79 around Brands and Zandvoort.

Nordschleife - GT5 version is the best, i'm sorry.. no pc version is even close.

I think the award winning one for rFactor is pretty freakin' good! I've spent hours and hours on it.

Other tracks I've loved in rFactor: Eastern Creek Laser, Oran Park LiDAR, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Pikes peak! (even though it doesn't look practically good...) There were also a couple of tarmac hillclimb courses that I've enjoyed, but can't remember what they were called... Can't think of others right now..

Other pc sims.. Well In the TOCA-series I've always loved Bathurst (haven't really driven it much in rfactor) and Brands Hatch (especially indy), Getting back to it now that i recently installed Race On with STCC2, GT Power and GTR Evo.. I love how those games integrate. Still waiting for the release of the retro expansion! :sly:

In rfactor the BMW Nurgburgring GP, i love Nurgburgring GP any version, but this one rocks! Higly recomended.

Also Mosport, Mid-Ohio, and all the GTR2 tracks converted from Delphi82, this last is a must.

I find this as well. The iRacing tracks have so much more character with the bumps and surface changes modelled

That´s because it´s the real track ;) Not something made with an estimate like many other tracks.

Not mention the super high textures on kerbs etc..
Spa and Okayama are the benchmark in any form of racing whether it´s PC or Playstation. Soon the rest of the tracks will get the same treatment.

I love Brno it's a technical track, lot of mid speed corners

And of course all the classics already mentioned here.
