So, who here has the PC version of San Andreas? I am really impressed with the graphics this time around. I'm running it at MAX settings, (Very High visula effects, 2XAA, and 1280x1024x32), and have little slowdown. It's nice.

Post screens of mods or anything you want in here.

Some examples of the improved graphics:

PS
How's the draw-distance?

And what are the system req'ts?

System Requirements
Recommended

* Windows 2000 or Windows XP
* Intel Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon XP Processor
* 384MB of RAM (the more the better!)
* 16-Speed DVD-ROM drive
* 4.7GB of free hard disk space (full install)
* 128MB (or greater) Video Card (Geforce 6 Series Recommended)
* DirectX 9 compatible Sound Card (Sound Blaster Auidgy 2 Recommended)
* Gamepad with twin axis analog controls
* Keyboard & Mouse

Minimum

* Windows 2000 or Windows XP
* 1Ghz Pentium III or AMD Athlon Processor
* 256MB of RAM
* 8-Speed DVD-ROM drive
* 3.6GB of free hard disk space (minimal install)
* 64MB Video Card (Geforce 3 or better)
* DirectX 9 compatible Sound Card
* Keyboard & Mouse

Draw distance is excellent. Look Down Grove Street and also look off the buildings. Yes, those are cars down there.

And if that isn't enough draw for you, there's a mod that increases is 10 times.

Also, Every texture seems to be higher resolution. You can read the liscense plates and highway signs. You can even make out the R* logo on CJ's hoodie.

So I just found out that those aren't Very High Visual Quality pictures. I restarted at very high and it KILLED my system, so I had to lower AA to 2x (setting 1). Here are some much better quality pics!

Note the DYNAMIC SHADOWS!

Pimpin' Slamvan (it did have a flame paintjob but my garage turned it white for some reason :grumpy:):

Yay for DX9 water effects!:

Jesus christ I hate Imageshack it's so annoying taking forever to load. I was wondering is there anyway to upload PS2 SanAn pics off the console and onto something....?

If you had a PVR capture card, then you could.

Hate to tell you but you could quite easily do that on PS2.

Yeah, I've seen that modification before, I didn't think there would be any here say about it though. I'm kinda suprised.

Anyone seen this stuff about 'Hot Coffee'? (explicit sex scenes in the PC version of GTA: SA)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4671429.stm
Yeap.

Apparently because the sex minigames are actually included in the retail version of the game and locked away at the last minute, it breaches some agreement between the ESRB and Rockstar. I still don't see why its such a big matter though. The end user still has to install the Hot Coffee mod to get these minigames, so its really out of Rockstar's hands.

I can use IE or Firefox to look at pr0n, why not just slap a 18+ rating on those and somehow ban those from young people?

What, San Andreas itself or the Hot Coffee mod...?

...and besides, you're not 18 yet... so not hot coffee for you! :dopey:

edit: all the websites with the modification are down for some reason :irked:

Don't know why i'm moaning though... I have no intention of buying the PC version of the game...

Exactly, the game has to be modified from it's on the shelf form for a player to use these features. It's not like a cheat or something, the game has to be modified from how it is sold. It is out of R*'s hands.

A playable San Andreas demo yeah.

STFU, n00b! :p I can read them much, much easier in the the PC version than I ever could in the PS2 version.

I might get it...only if some truly good mods (and not hot coffee) come out.
I was hoping some good ones would be out, but sadly, not yet. There aren't many extensive car mods yet. Give it a few months and there should be some more. THe game has only been out for a few weeks.

Get a better TV. 💡

I might get it if a mod like that large Island mod that came out for Vice City PC is introduced.

That mod kicked a** on Vice City!

But yeah, San Andreas' cities, roads, trees, and buildings look extremely good, yet, the people and vehicles still look the same and actually out of balance to me.

Anyways, I'll get it if some excellent mods come out.

Does anyone notice massive slowdowns in certain areas of the city? For some reason, I can be cruising along smoothly with max details but as soon as I hit the "El Corona" area, the FPS slumps to like... 18fps.

My specs are well above the recommended specs and others with similar rigs are experiencing the same problems, which leads me to believe that something's up with San Andreas.

Yeah, but the thing is that the code for these minigames is still in the actual game, its just locked away. All the mod does is unlock these minigames. And because of this, the ESRB aren't happy.

Although slapping and "Adults Only" rating on the game won't do anything, as we all know when it comes to ratings. :rolleyes:

I'm sure in heavily wooded areas you'd get some slowdown, because of all the dynamic shadows. If you noticed, the shadows actually move with the sun. With all of those shadows going on in a forest would probably hurt the FPS.

Shannon - Yeah, but R* don't sell the game with that unlocked, hell you can even unlock it on the PS2 if you have a X-Port or something. But it's not like the game is being sold modded. IMO if you cant get to it without modding the game it doesn't matter.
